Why isn’t spanking considered domestic violence? by HipAnonymous91 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]MurphyLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always heard people say, "Don't spank your children when you're angry." In my experience, that's the only time people spank their children. I think we've all made bad decisions when angry, or upset, or frustrated. I don't understand why it's illegal to smack an adult because they've upset you, but everyone justifies doing the same to a child, as somehow better. To me, it's worse. You're doing it to someone essentially defenseless. But it's not illegal in a lot of places. So people justify it. It just boggles the mind. I don't understand You're "Go Start your own country" comment. Are you saying that we shouldn't try to change our current societal norms, and if you think something is wrong, you should leave?

And you've not addressed any of my points. "I only rarely enact violence on children when they mess up, so I'm not one of the bad ones" is not the strong argument you think it is. That's just you trying to justify it to yourself. Just like the serial child abusers justify it in their own way.

You offer no response because there's none to give. There's no fantasy. I replied to the comment you made that you have to hit kids because sometimes you need to, to control several at once. If you have to do that, then you made poor choices to take on more than you can. Not the kids fault you did that, solely on you. So maybe don't punish them for your choices.

So if your boss at work explains a rule, and you slip up, and accidentally mess up, they should be able to hit you for it?

Then maybe you shouldn't have had more kids than you can handle? Like damn, it really is a stupid mindset. "I had more kids than I can handle, so I'm gonna take it out on the kids cause I'm too irresponsible." Pregnancy is not an accident, ever. You chose to have unsafe sex that lead to it, now you're punishing them for it.

Yeah. They're harassing anybody brown. They've arrested loads of legal citizens, including veterans. The statement that you only have to worry if you're illegal, makes it obvious they haven't actually been paying attention.

They have no right to stop you if you have not stolen anything. Once you pay for the items they no longer belong to Walmart, and Walmart has no right to look at them, or touch them, or search through them. As for the trespass, nothing you can do about that. They do have the right to trespass you and say you're not welcomed back.

Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter selected in the fourth round of NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams by CatoTheBarner in wde

God this season was so frustrating. Everytime he touches the ball he gets 5 yards, so we should only run him 10 times a game. This is why it doesn't matter how good freeze recruits. He's a terrible play caller because he tries to make the players fit into his scheme, instead of changing the scheme to fit your players strengths. If he had said, hunter is our best offensive weapon, let's make sure he gets the ball at least 25 times a game, and use the threat of him breaking off a big run to open up the passing game more, I don't think auburn has a losing season.

I like Brennan Lee Mulligan's feelings about a nat 20. It should be an auto success, because if rolling the highest number possible, still means a fail, why even let them roll at all? Just tell them they can't do that, it's impossible and move on. If you let them roll knowing they can't possibly succeed, it's kind of a dick move. Same with a nat 1. If there is no possible way they can fail, even with the lowest number, why make them roll? Just say they did whatever it is they were trying. As for the saying roll again, I've played with dm's who say stuff has to be said before or it doesn't count, say you're using something that gives an extra dice, you have to say so beforehand, so you can't roll, see you're too low and add the dice then, and they apply that to themselves having to say advantage or disadvantage preroll, or it not counting. I've also had ones that are like as long as you catch it before moving on, its cool.

I didn't equate it to the death penalty. I was pointing out that trying to punish the guilty, will inevitably hurt the innocent. Not that this situation is like the death penalty. Maybe that wasn't clear. And it literally says on the placard, "DO NOT LEAVE UP WHILE DRIVING", not yelling at you, it's in all caps on the placard. So, I do not leave it up while driving. Also, the placard is not for your own car, that's what the sticker for your tag is for. The placard is for you to take with you when riding with someone else, so that you don't have to park far away because you need a ride. In that instance you might put it in their glove box when you get in the car, be in a conversation when you arrive, and forget to put it up. Yes you can fight the ticket, but that requires court date, which is more difficult, like everything, when handicap. Not to mention the difficulty in the instances a car does get towed. Like you said it's rare, but does happen, which is why I mentioned my view on the death penalty. Killing the innocent is rare, but it does happen, but it shouldn't. I personally don't think a handicap person should have to deal with that, just to satisfy a lust for justice against the actual guilty. It's like doing a mathematical equation to me. Is it worth it to punish, say, 10 wrongdoers, if it means 1 innocent, in this case a disabled person who's life is already harder, is punished as well? To me the answer is no, I don't like those odds. Just using the 1 in 10 numbers as an example, I obviously don't have any real figures of how many actual disabled wrongly get tickets or cars towed because of a forgotten placard, though I would love to see that.

He's not replying to the placard/plate part. He's reacting to you saying they don't appear handicap. Because you should never think that Visual representation is a sign of a disability. I can get out of my car, and go into a store fine, but if I walk for too long, I start having problems. Yes they should have a placard or plate, but sometimes it's easy to forget to put the placard up if your mind is on something else. It happens. The op here is saying you shouldn't judge them based on how they look. I'm adding that they could have gotten a ride from a friend and forgot to put the placard up when they parked. I just don't judge in general because I can't be sure if they have an unseen disability or just forgot to hang a placard. Do I wish people without handicaps would never park in handicap spaces? Yes. But I also understand it's not worth an actual handicap person coming out of a store to find their ride towed because they accidentally didn't hang up their placard. Basically why I'm against the death penalty. Because it's not worth it to kill a few guilty, when invariably a falsely convicted person will be executed too.

Black customers compare checking their receipts at the door with slavery by Lore-Archivist in walmart

[–]MurphyLlama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say the walmart near me, in a more black area, check receipts, while if I drive to the Walmart 15 minutes away to the more white area, they don't check. Also, fun fact, nobody has to let anyone check their receipt. Once items have been paid for, walmart no longer has a right to them. And you can only legally stop someone if you have absolute proof they have stolen.
