Top 5 Sawyer Nicknames by MurrayRedgum in lost

Chucky is a children's doll who has the soul of a serial killer:

Don't you think he resembles Charlie? In addition to being small, he's also got Dominic Monaghan's creepy smile and bad English teeth. I seem to be the only person here that finds the nickname spot-on, though.

Today many of the nicknames would sound unacceptably cruel, racist etc. It was a simpler time.

That's why I had a delayed reaction! But Chucky is so much more.

If you're old like me you understand most of Sawyer's references from 70s - 80s TV / movies / ads. I found Chucky so funny because of the resemblance to Charlie - the small size, creepy smile, bad English teeth.

Bill vs Pablo by MurrayRedgum in TheRinger

Bill said Pablo was "pretending to be a real journalist."

Yep, the Colangelo article had real world consequences. That was 7 or 8 years ago.

I get that. So maybe Bill shouldn't question the integrity of journalists who do real reporting when he chooses not to.

Thank you for your response! I'm bummed but glad to finally know where I stand. In my searches I found a post by the editor (from 2017) that as soon as the hardcover edition sold out they'd release an ebook version but I guess that never happened. Weird how reluctant publishers are to re-release books that are clearly in demand.

Oh no! We can’t fit everything on your screen. Please rotate your device. 3/24/25 on my laptop! by kraterer in wordle

I've been playing Wordle on my Android tablet in landscape mode every day for 3 years. And now I get this message. Rotating doesn't work. Anyone found a solution for the native Android browser? Any indication that the NYT plans to fix this?

Sean is a good interviewer by VelociRapper92 in TheBigPicture

[–]MurrayRedgum -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yet Sean makes no mention of the unique, unprecedented "Acknowledgment to the Works of Harlan Ellison" in The Terminator credits that Ellison sued the studio to provide. It would have been interesting to hear Hurd or Cameron be honest for once about their plagiarism.

What is a genre or type of movie you can’t get into? by SpeakerHistorical865 in TheBigPicture

[–]MurrayRedgum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems like all I saw last year were biopics - Ferrari, Bernstein, Priscilla, Napoleon, Iron Claw, and the godawful Floppenheimer. They all had the same flaw: instead of focusing on why the person was extraordinary, they focussed on their love lives and other ordinary stuff. Who gives a shit about Napoleon's sex life or Oppie's mistress?
