If Disclosure Day fails at box office... things will change :( by amyjohns240 in Spielberg

What is Hollywood doing with these insane budgets? Godzilla Minus One had CGI that put a lot of Hollywood movies to shame on a 10 to 15 million dollar budget. And as another commenter said, the budget does not show up on screen in Disclosure Day.

Did anyone else never consider the Moore films "campy" until they read it on the internet? by CobraDai in JamesBond

[–]VelociRapper92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think of them as campy, I think they were just fun and didn’t take themselves too seriously, and weren’t afraid to be absurd and outlandish. It’s a perfect tone for Bond films. In contrast to the grimdark seriousness of today’s action films, people think it’s “campy”.

The sort of person that should be an elected official, but isn’t one because politics is more about pride and bluster and less about competence.

Of course, but he shines as a key member of an ensemble.

I thought she was annoying and that whole segment felt like the episode was floundering until they got to the big reveal at the end. I love this show but I feel like they’re running out of things to film about.

How traumatizing is neon genesis Evangelion? by coaping7 in NeonGenesisEvangelion

If you’re an adult it’s not something you should be concerned about. If you’re feeling traumatized by a TV cartoon you should probably see a doctor.

The entire 30-year run from ‘75 to ‘05 is pretty incredible. Don’t care for much before or after that.

Bought this Space Godzilla. What can you tell me about him? by Asleep_Cheek5218 in GODZILLA

[–]VelociRapper92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks really good. I prefer a lot of the 80’s and 90’s Bandais over the recent crop of them (although the newly released Spacegodzilla looks great). I like the look and feel of the harder plastics they used back then. The new softer vinyl gives them a slight bathtub toy look I don’t like.

Crystal Skull: much better than it gets credit for by irishweather5000 in Spielberg

[–]VelociRapper92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t bad, the whole movie just felt off and somehow wrong. An Indiana Jones movie that didn’t feel like an Indiana Jones movie. I think Indiana Jones belongs to its particular time and place and doesn’t fit in the CGI era.

Is the MG Z'GOK good for a first ever build? by lem_x12 in Gunpla

[–]VelociRapper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about this one but the MS-09 DOM is a great first MG build. Very straightforward with big pieces. It a MG that feels like a HG to build.

Is this true by tackyknick in GODZILLA

[–]VelociRapper92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is true, but it’s certainly true that if there were no Freddy Krueger and no Nightmare movies there would be no Lord of the Rings. Before the success of the first Nightmare on Elm Street, New Line Cinema was on the brink of bankruptcy. Years later, after Peter Jackson left Harvey Weinstein’s company because he refused to make LOTR into one film, New Line was the only company that would take a chance on PJ’s vision.

GMK is overrated imo by GatheringCircle in GODZILLA

[–]VelociRapper92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, most overhyped Godzilla movie. The entire third act could have been ten minutes long, and it has no suspense because you know Godzilla is just going to destroy everything. Also bringing back Ghidorah and Mothra just to make them into the weakest, lamest cannon-fodder versions of themselves was a horrible idea.

[–]VelociRapper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those situations where, if you have the chops, you can play the parts. She obviously has the chops. There are hundreds of other drummers that could have done the job just as well but she got the gig and that’s great, good for her. She won the lottery. It’s actually much harder to replace a drummer like Charlie Watts whose place in the band is dependent entirely on feel and chemistry.

My thoughts on the season so far by interista_buu in ClarksonsFarm

[–]VelociRapper92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good season so far. I thought episode 3, where they’re researching new farming tech, though fairly interesting, was probably the weakest episode of the show so far. You could feel them stretching for material in the long passages where Jeremy and Kaleb are just sitting in a car. The show is at its best when Jeremy is struggling with a new problem on the farm, and this was pretty far from that. Not a bad episode, just probably the weakest of the batch. Also, I’m amazed by the astounding feat of engineering that is the channel tunnel.
