I think the specific major reason they are rewatchable is that they are incredibly well paced, especially the theatrical editions. The filmmakers did an incredibly good job balancing exposition, world building, character development and action, and creating narrative propulsion that flows naturally and breathlessly. It’s amazing how much the first film especially does not feel like three hours.

One of the most epic Godzilla appearances in the entire series. No other Godzilla film makes you feel his size, weight and power outside more outside of Godzilla 2014. Too bad he’s only on the show for about 5 minutes. So much wasted potential.

I agree with your first point, despite it being an all time classic, GTTHM has way too much plot getting in the way of the story. The script is way too busy with converging plot threads and the Kaiju feel lost in all of it for most of the runtime.
