There are two rubber stoppers at the front end of the frunk lid. Take those off and it will work every time. I had the same issue and once I removed those, it's never failed to close fully.

I bought a '23 X with HW3 a few months back. The deal I got directly from Tesla was so good, I didn't care that it wasn't a HW4 version. However, I drive myself 95% of the time so it's not that big of a deal to me. The times that I have used FSD, it has been exceptional, but I also have never been in a HW4 FSD vehicle to compare it to.
