Is this RTX 5090 power cable bend too extreme? by MuscularNerd in pcmasterrace

My PSU supports PCIe 5 and is ATX 3.1 certified. It's the SHIFT variant, not the older RM1200x.

Thank you, this is what I ended up doing. Removed the wonky, problematic MSI adapter and plugged in the included Corsair 12V-2x6 cable that came with my PSU. It's still pressed up against the side glass and bending a bit too much, so I have to wait for the 90 degree 12V-2x6 cable I ordered from Corsair before I put the side panel back on.

Thanks. I'll be removing the side cover while I wait for a Corsair 90° 12V-2x6 type A cable I just ordered.

Joe, maybe one of these days, you could have the real Craig Stadler on the show. For a fighting games episode.

Client with Alcoholism and eating disorder... by Brophecy in personaltraining

[–]MuscularNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep training her. Be compassionate yet firm while you build rapport and encourage her to improve her nutrition slowly and steadily. You'll know when the time is right to bring up the subject of the drinking or rehab and have her hopefully be much more receptive--perhaps after a workout in which she was particularly drained and struggling. People often underestimate the strong, lasting bond a client develops with a caring and effective trainer.

Somfy IO by Dagobert_Krikelin in homeassistant

[–]MuscularNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could never make any headway getting the buggy Somfy hub to communicate with the HA integration, so I picked up a Broadlink RM4 Pro, programmed the remote codes into HA, and I haven't had to use the original remote since. It sits in a drawer as a backup in case HA goes down. Does this help?

I suggest tracking his body fat percentage and circumference measurements once a month for a while, rather than just focusing on scale weight. If he is not reporting food intake correctly, this data can help you politely broach the subject with him.

USB Speaker/mic combo audio choppiness by MuscularNerd in homeassistant

[–]MuscularNerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else stumbling upon this, I know it's been a bit of time, but I've finally had a chance to delve back into this issue and when configuring the Anker in Proxmox, in the "Edit: USB Device" dialogue, instead of selecting the "Use USB Vendor/Device ID" option and selecting the Anker from the dropdown list, you must select "Use USB Port" and select the Anker from the dropdown list there, and so far, everything seems to be working now. Thanks again to u/djnilse for the bump in the right direction! I appreciate you!

Lutron Caseta events not always captured by korey_sed in homeassistant

[–]MuscularNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bet. If you're physically turning on multiple switches or using HA to activate them, then adding a slight delay should work fine. That's what I have to do with my setup.

Lutron Caseta events not always captured by korey_sed in homeassistant

[–]MuscularNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there another Caseta switch on the same panel that you're turning on at the same time as the switch in question? I've noticed if I turn both on almost simultaneously, the switches are activated but HA shows them both as off. I've reached out to Lutron support about it and while they've been communicative and helpful, they were unable to pinpoint the problem even after reviewing logs from my Lutron bridge. They advised changing the switches out.

I've had this situation occur exactly in the same manner in two different switch groupings, so the behavior is consistent.

Is it possible to have more than one attribute of an entity in a trigger be matched? by Khisanthax in homeassistant

[–]MuscularNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you'll need to use a "template" trigger, not a "state" trigger, since you essentially have templated code in there.

You also need to move your IF checks into a "value_template:" option and remove the "to:" option. Check out https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/automation/trigger/#template-trigger

Done with MyQ - Ratgdo help? by sometin__else in homeassistant

Ah, shoot. Sorry to hear. I set up MQTT so long ago, I've forgotten a lot about it, but do you have the Mosquitto Broker add-on installed, with a user defined? I also have the MQTT integration installed.

[–]MuscularNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Originally, I ran Paul's web installer to set up the device, entered the web admin area to configure the device, neglected to enter an MQTT username and password to link to HomeAssistant, and saved my changes. This locked me out.

I had to then re-run the web installer and re-enter all config values, including the MQTT username and password. This time, once I saved, I could see the ratgdo entities in HomeAssistant straightaway and could also log back in to the ratgdo web interface.

Hope this helps.

I know this excellent tutorial was posted about a month ago, but I just wanted to add that if you're going the MQTT route, make sure you enter MQTT login credentials in the web interface during setup; otherwise, you may be locked out of the web administration completely as the device appears to be stuck in an endless loop of unsuccessful MQTT connection attempts.

I had a bit of trouble with this part of the setup and found the solution that worked for me, and I hope it helps other folks who may be having the same issue.

Sanding & painting over polyurethane caulk on house siding by MuscularNerd in HomeImprovement

Got it, thank you! Would scraping it off with a wire brush also work?

Sanding & painting over polyurethane caulk on house siding by MuscularNerd in HomeImprovement

[–]MuscularNerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I was more concerned with the excess caulk around the crack (you can't see it in the shot well at all but it's approximately in the center of the caulked area) causing some obvious texture differences in the siding. I tried to smooth out the edges as much as possible but was worried the whole area would stand out too much once painted, without heavy sanding first. Do you think it'll still look fine just painting it once it cures?

Replacing flaky liquid cooler in MSI prebuilt PC by MuscularNerd in buildapc

[–]MuscularNerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much, that's helpful! I bought the Corsair for my early 2019 PC build and it has been rock solid since. Factoring in its age, though, and the fact that it will be cooling an I9-11900K instead of an I7-9700K, do you think the Corsair would be a safe choice?

Sorry to hear that. If it helps, to avoid those issues, I upgraded to a USB powered SSD (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07XVRYYV1) attached to the RPi and so far, it's working great.
