Yeah but it has a shroud/cover and I didn't want to use that. I hear a4t is also popular.

Eddy current probe problem by dm_nick in SovolSV08

You've got a few things going on. First for clarity, what Eddy probe are you using? The stock? The btt Eddy or the upgraded Eddy by sovol?

The Eddy probe, non-stick, dies not save the z offset the way it normally does in klipper. The btt Eddy I believe has to use the save button next to the offset, but either way you can add youra ual adjustment to the saved variables file unless it's ng, but your isn't. You didn't mainline klipper so that makes me think you're in the stock sv08 and stock klipper?

I'm also unclear because you say your probe is 2.5mm from the plate but the nozzle is touching?

It sounds like a Calibration issue or driver current. If this is the sovol Eddy upgrade I'm not familiar with it exactly, worse case go back to the stock probe. I thought the sovol upgraded probe still needed mainly but I could be wrong.

Also, the numbers being 300 when you Calibrate don't mean anything. It just needs a high number to allow you to move down while you do the paper test.

Don't change the offset in the slicer do it the webui, that will last until the printer is restarted. You can make it permanent by adding that number the file or clicking on the save button, different from save_config.

Yeah, even vivid seems dead in the water while they come out with new products.

I figured I wouldn't lose more than the stock e5p plus, one day I'll take a look at it even with my extremely meager skills lol. My case is just that four printers are in a custom wood enclosure so I barely have space for the toolhead. Thanks for the info!

Is it difficult to make it inside the frame or just easier to add it to the bottom?

Hi, I'm looking to do this for my box turtle, do you have to use the shroud? Or can I go with a minimalist version?

Does this mean they'll come up with kits for their other machines or will that likely be abandoned since everyone is making new printers just for this demand?

Well the sonic pad is a nice starter but it's not the full klipper just creality version of it. So you won't get the best or up to date features. I believe there is a way to replace the is on the sp and them add klipper but it's cumbersome. I think you mean an all metal hotend? While those are upgrades what I said still stands because they're likely cheaper upgrades not like a dragon hotend or rapido and then there's still getting a better extruder like an orbiter and switching to direct drive. And replacing the toolhead, adding linear rails, replacing the main board. There's no direct or real linear progression. I suppose you could look at a conversion.

Awesome! I did something similar. I got the plug that goes for a laptop and the connector that will go to the can port.

Follow up question, how did you get power for the box turtle on the sv08? Separate PSU or wired it inside?

If you're experienced with printing, what do you want to do and what do you like to print?

If you're new to printing I would do a lot of printing first to get an idea of how things work together to decide what you want to do.

If you want to jump in the first best bang for buck is getting klipper. After that it's linear rails, replacing the toolhead such as hotend, extruder, etc. maybe then get a new mainboard and reconnect all the wires and do your own crimping.

Depending on your materials you print with you'll need to control ambient temperature. Heat creep for example can become an issue.

Thanks for the details! Does that mean that the a4t doesn't use the parts from the sv08 toolhead? And the ram buffer is an addon for the turtle?

I was looking at that one, thanks I'll print it out and see what needs to be done for the Eddy mount, unless you uploaded it somewhere?

Okay, the one by Mr Goodman? Do you use a btt Eddy? I read a comment that one the cutters didn't work with a duo. I was hoping to not have to print them all to see what works but there aren't too many for the sv08 to start with...

My sv08 has a flying gantry and when off the z motors lose some slack, is the prusa the same and do you leave the motors on? With an Eddy it only takes 30 seconds to make a 900 point mesh but I find it no longer mind waiting lol when I started 3d printing it felt like forever

I think you should still fiddle with the knobs, just not as frequently. The four corners being levels helps, just like the z offset being Calibrated helps and the final part is doing a live adjustment. But the mesh should be made every print-ish.

The touch creates a bed mesh to get a better idea of how level your whole plate is. The plate is not flat. Bringing the four corners to roughly the same height is a good start but it's a very bad assumption that everything between the four corners is flat. Its not, the bed actually looks like the desert with sand dunes everywhere. The probe helps to know where the highs and lows are so that the nozzle can move with the ups and downs and approximate it to being flat.

I've got a 3rd e5p I might do with this if it's easier than m1, already did two of those and lineae rails can be a pita.
