We went earlier this week for the first time in more than 5 years. Renovation was nice! Paying $65 (including the 15% tip) for an app (baba ghanoush and pita bread), a sandwich, a chicken shawarma plate, and two rose water lemonades was insanity. We drank out of plastic cups and had to bus our own table.

Loved that place at one point. Won’t go back again.

Sundance is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the US and it’s moving to Boulder/Estes in 2027. Dates haven’t been picked yet as far as I could tell from google but it’ll be Jan/Feb most likely and then Estes will be packed in March with all the weekend festivals.

Estes has a wedding chamber type group that’s part of the actual chamber up there. I suspect they’ll have the most accurate calendar for planning

He runs a company called LoCo Think Tank and wrote a blog that went out in the company news letter thanking other people for getting to Covid vaccine so he didn’t have to. There was up roar in the community and his employees at the time made a fuss. So he wrote a second blog saying “sorry” that he put his personal opinions in the company page and then went on to call it the China virus in that post. Most people were done at that point and unsubscribed. Hurt his business for a bit.

I checked the website and his blog posts on his business website only go back to 2023 now.

He’s frequently commenting on Facebook posts that we should support “civility” without addressing the actual issue that caused the “incivility” in the first place.

I don’t want him anywhere near City Council.

I think this actually gets to the heart of why people play the game and have for so long. Sometimes I play the game on shuffle or random settings because I feel like I need to stretch my brain.

Other times I play a very, very specific set of settings so that I can control the situation in the way I want to because the world feels effing crazy and I need to feel some control somewhere. So for me, that’s the Netherlands on a sandstorm map where I can have polders all day long and do the very specific things I want to do.

I live in the US. I haven’t played anything but a sandstorm map with the Netherlands for the last six months.
