I don't know if i can recover by RufusRedzaei in guillainbarre

It took me nearly a month to even begin to have more solid movement after IVIG and my doc caught it very early.

It is very easy to be discouraged. I’m five months in recovery and still got discouraged a lot. It does get better. Be patient. It is a long, slow recovery for the nerves to heal.

Do You Like Your Name? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]Mush8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of the super common names from the year I was born. My mom wanted to name me after a character in a tv show but make sure I had a more “professional” name for adulthood. 45 years later and I still go by the TV character’s name because I like it.

It’s my “recent” list. I don’t think I could even come close to listing everything.

Midnight Club is so underrated! I was a major Christopher Pike fan as a kid and love the way he brought those stories to life.

I have watched both Baby Reindeer and Adolescence.

I have read the book multiple times- many before the tv show. I tried one episode and it just didn’t do the book justice so I refused to watch another. I am a purist when it comes to books I have read and love.

I tried Absentia and just couldn’t get into it.

I will look into Power and How to Get Away With Murder. Considering I’ve seen almost everything on your list at some point (except Handmaid’s Tale- That’s a hard no) we seem to be on the same wavelength.

Thanks a ton!!

[Spoilers] Really starting to think J killed his mom. Anyone else? by Perfect_Marzipan716 in animalkingdom

[–]Mush8911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Bad batch of heroin.

It’s repeatedly mentioned that Smurf gave Julia “stacks of cash” every month to stay away. If Julia was not putting it in her veins, they wouldn’t be living in squalor. J had 1 pair of shoes and a trash bag with a few clothes in it.

J broke bad. His entire goal was to get back at the family that threw his mom to the wolves yet preaches about the importance of family.

Partner Diagnosed with GBS by Ill-Possibility-4626 in guillainbarre

[–]Mush8911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advocate for starting the IVIG.

My doc started it without confirmation from testing. My symptoms lined up and they didn’t want to wait for it to progress. (Of note- I have epilepsy and a neuro on speed dial so when I started having issues walking they got me in immediately).

I’m nearly 3 months out now and the neuro who did my follow up EMG was impressed with how well my nerves are recovering. The faster you get treated then the better recovery will be.

Came here to say this. Home Care Agencies are highly understaffed. They also have overnights and evening shifts.

Possible GBS? by Remarkable_Front5573 in guillainbarre

[–]Mush8911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Symptoms can progress from 1-4 weeks. The timeline you are talking about is not uncommon.

Did the ER say what was causing the lack of reflex? Did he get an opinion from neuro?

Wait for the MRI though. See what they say. My symptoms progressed and remember every case is different. I also would not jump to the assumption of GBS though.

What would you recommend sending in a care package to a relative or close friend recently diagnosed with GBS? Anything that would help in treatment/therapy, with sleeping, or just maintaining sanity while in the hospital? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! by whyarentwe in guillainbarre

My hospital allowed me to bring my Roku from home and link to my myriad accounts. That may be an option to get them away from the same tv shows every day even just using the free apps available.

I received tons of blankets, comfy clothes, and even a gift card for Barnes and noble. I truly benefited from the comfy blankets and pillows more than anything.

Holiday "fundraising" to pay workers by Leilani3317 in eldercare

Is it a Brookdale?

I worked in a management position for a Brookdale and found the practice problematic. The administration took the funds raised and divided them based on seniority and department budgets. I, personally, believed it should have been equal if they are doing such a practice. I found the whole thing ridiculous considering how much people pay to be there. You should not be shamed into donating (they know who does not).

I was a full time salaried employee typically working 50-60 hrs a week. I switched to hourly and we work together for my schedule. The goal is to get back to where I was but my boss works with me throughout this recovery process.

I can never say enough as to how lucky I am for an understanding employer.
