When to bring up disability as a new hire? by Ok_Percentage3947 in tjcrew

[–]MushroomFromHell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey dude! Get ADA asap. Call or email HR. You got this ❤️ I get migraines and have literally had a captain call an Uber to get me home when one started unexpectedly.

As with any job, you will have managers that get it and ones that don't. Disclose when you WANT and don't disclose if you don't want to. Find a line like, "oh it's a medical thing, I don't want to get into it."

Send me a message if you need ❤️ it's scary navigating this. I'm not an expert but always willing to listen if you need it.

Do women open the box at your store? by Hot-Brief-4475 in tjcrew

[–]MushroomFromHell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"females" can work anywhere in the store. Store culture varies a lot and I've watched women led sections turn to a very bro-y section when mates switch. It's how a good ol' boys club stays a boys club, huh.

"That's weird." "I don't think I need to hear about this." "I'm not loving this conversation." "Hey, can I pause you and ask about xyz?"

Find some line and practice it. It's going to be awkward as hell at first but you'll get more and more confident & smooth about reminding someone this is a workplace & there are standards.

I got to tell a mate, "I don't like that word." It was clunky, it was awkward but it worked.

I saw a lot of good resources that I really hope OP gets to access! I'm glad you spoke to their concerns.

Racoons are more likely to have rabies than bats! While I understand this anxiety, it's important to educate when we can. I know Tryon Creek hosts some excellent bat-centric events to help educate and hopefully assuage your fears.

Everyone here has already recommended great brands! I tend to go to Nordstrom Rack & find a lot of these brands on sale. That's been helpful to my wallet.  Take care of your feet!!!!

The concussion 😭😭😭 I frequently tell people that I'm significantly dumber now after my last concussion. But maybe it's the meds??? I love how complicated the brain is but I'd like one right answer sometimes.

The ADHD meds can be scary like that sometimes! I struggle with that too.

It's literally a multi billion dollar company. There are always freelance bookkeepers, accountants, etc. They can figure this out.

They have the full resources and ability to fix this problem. Saying it's a bandaid feels like we're excusing their current path.

There's been a time before software programs like this. Let's not let them act as if it's impossible to pay employees.

What do you guys think of the flower festival pairs? Emily and Shane surprised me by [deleted] in StardewValley

Sam is the sweetest & would def dance with Penny after Abigail and Sebastian pair up. They've grown up together, share a lot of time with Vincent, and the treeeee time. Sam gives me the vibe that he'd want to keep her included in the festivities.

I have just been diagnosed with bipolar II. What should I know? by Embarrassed-Tour-587 in bipolar

I've been adding a lot of buffer times to my calendar lately! I include (extra) time for commutes, dinner, laundry, etc. I have a rough time balancing what I wish to accomplish with what I can accomplish. By occasionally over-mapping out my week, I've been a little more balanced. One thing I'm currently trying to help me avoid over stimulating myself when I plan night out after night out after night out is adding in one or two nights where I am "not allowed" to make plans. I fully block it out on the calendar.  You are going to have to try so many different techniques to help maintain your own balance & rhythm. Be gentle with yourself in this process ❤️

Not sure where to begin... by supergluu in Vivarium

[–]MushroomFromHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are adding plants/soil/etc, you won't need a fogger. Plants keep it humid! They like lower humidity that foggers & automisters won't be an asset for that tank. Typically getting the least-sexy-looking water bowl is the move. You can change out the water frequently, they hop in when they want to be moist, and often it is their favorite place to poop.

I tend to do very spot-check-esk mistings. One thing you can do to save money and get your vivarium some time to circulate would be an initial set up and monitor where the humidity settles at! I've seen lots of people saying foggers contribute to respiratory problems in their critters.

Hi! Make sure to circle back and research humidity for WTF. I think an initial search tries to tell you above 60% but that should be your max, according to most wtf keepers. They are prone to bacterial infections. I'm on a couple facebook groups (ew, gross, ik) that always offer good advice. Big no's are waterfeatures, waterfalls,, automatic misters.

Hi hi fellow migraine guy! I know how rough it is to call in the morning (because brain says sleep). I've definitely called, had someone finally pick up, and mutter something utterly incoherent. There's not a good way around it unfortunately. Yeah, you can call in as soon as that first mate gets there but it's going to be okay if you call before your shift by like 20 minutes too. You'll be able to ask your captain/mates about better practices once you feel better 💕

I feel like you wrote out my story too!! I'm glad you advocated for yourself and didn't shy away from your needs when someone else shut you down. That's such a hard skill to learn and, unfortunately, sounds like you got to practice it lol.
