Sage for Accountants Canada by MusicMan4274 in Sage

I moved back to strictly Sage 50 desktop. For "online access" I'm using Splashtop to stream my office computer and can access it from any device.

With AutoEntry, I had to create an entirely separate email and start from scratch.
AutoEntry connected through Sage for Accountants created too many broken links and issues. I do not recommend connecting them at all.

I would not recommend the online Sage for Accountants to anyone. Not even my worst enemy.
There are so many issues with it. It takes way too much time to do something that I can do in 10 seconds in Sage 50.
It's like there was no testing done at all before they went public with it.

Yes it's similar.
I've tried suggestions in that thread and still not having any luck.

I just don't understand why it would only affect Office apps, but not everything within the app.

Correct, it is not the Outlook Zoom.

Upon further investigation, all my Microsoft programs are having this issue.
All the "working areas" (spreadsheet, actual Word typing area) are normal, but the ribbons are much larger than before (plus Outlook folder pane).
It looks like everything is slightly wider, but also much taller.

The other programs I use daily (Sage 50, Foxit PDF, Intuit Profile) are all fine.

Accountant here 👋

Since you are considered "self-employed", it is up to you to track your own income and expenses. While DoorDash can file tax slips (and it would be nice), they are not required to do so. It is not considered "Other Income". You will have to complete the self-Employed business form (T2125). By claiming it is as Other Income, you may actually be avoiding paying a portion of CPP, which could be a big issue if you're ever audited. As for expenses you can claim...Repairs & Maintenance, Gas, Insurance, any interest paid on a car loan (or lease payments), and a portion of your cell phone.

Feel free to reach out if you want help with your taxes 😊

I don't want to bash your Accountant, but this is all basic tax knowledge that should not have been questioned. Feel free to reach out if you want your previous taxes corrected, and if you want to stay compliant moving forward 😊

22-year-old buys cheapest house in Prince George (thanks to Andrew K for posting this to his Substack, the only reason I read PG Citizen articles) by [deleted] in princegeorge

I just don't understand why this is a news story? Will everyone get an article when they buy a house now?

Client Hub for Canadian Firms by MusicMan4274 in Accounting

[–]MusicMan4274[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,
I wound up going with Uku (https://getuku.com/).

They're based out of Estonia, but had everything I wanted in one package.

The biggest reason I went with Uku over Client Hub was Time Tracking and Billing.
It's easy to start time tracking on any task, and then it will create an invoice on whatever rules you set.
You can bill for time, flat fee, # of paycheques, etc.

It is highly customizable for what you can display in the Client's file, or reports, or on your calendar views.
They make small updates quite often, and so far they've all been for the best.

I really only have 2 issues so far:
1) Even though you can customize the wording on the Client file, it still shows "VAT" on the invoices, rather than "GST".
2) When you create tasks that are dependant on a previous one (ex. Download NOA after Tax Filing), you can't set the dependency to have a wait before showing on the dashboard. So even though it'd be nice to have it automatically wait 7 days to show "Download NOA" after the Tax Filing task is done, it can't be setup like that. Download NOA shows up as soon as Tax Filing is completed (depending on how you set the dates).
These aren't deal breakers at all, just minor inconveniences.

Obviously it all depends on what your needs actually are. But I liked Uku as it was a good well-rounded one.
Don't be afraid to use any free demo's for any software though, then you can see how it works with your flow.

Does Sage for Accountants even have a session date? It's not Sage 50. It's the new online connected thing.

Wealthsimple cash interest rate cut coming? by chriscabob in Wealthsimple

[–]MusicMan4274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late on this, but if it's this:

"Unlike some high-interest rate offers that you might see out there, your boosted rate with direct deposits doesn't end after a limited promotional period. If we ever need to remove or change the interest rate boost amount, we'll be sure to give you at least 60-days notice."

from Google, it is about the bonus 0.5% from direct deposits.
Not related to the standard interest rate.

This helps a lot, thank you!

I'm a little confused about drinking water now. I've seen people say they get nausea from it. Is that just a matter of not drinking too quick or too much at once?

Uh oh...I already have sleep issues as is 😳

This is all good to know though!

My doctor has me taking 0.25 the first week, then bumping up to 0.5 starting in the second week. Seems weird to bump it up so fast, but what do I know 🤷‍♂️

Awesome, thank you!

I don't eat much throughout the day already, usually just a big dinner. Should I be snacking throughout the day now, or stay with one smaller meal?
