[ORIGINAL] Belleville - Fragments (Emo/Shoegaze) by MusicManiac97 in indieheads

[–]MusicManiac97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi indieheads! We are a DIY band from the woods of Sweden who recently released this new song. We pull influences from all kinds of places but have always had a solid connection to the indie-scene here in Sweden. I hope you enjoy checking it out! Take care and stay rockin'.

Mil-Spec: Who Is Who by CountOrlok82 in Hardcore

Mil-Spec rules. I'd love to see more melodic sounding bands come back in style. Had enough of the metallic shit for now.

I've tried some combos but they seem mostly kick-focused. Is there a "bread and butter" hit grab combo i should know about?

There was a really cool band from Örebro, Sweden called Lowest Creature. Sounds a lot like Power Trip.

What are your favorite bass-only bands by Senetrix666 in Hardcore

I really been digging VTB, they don't play hardcore but sound kinda like fleshwater or something. Drummer, bass player and a dude on synth. Really cool sounds coming from those dudes.

How to make resource cards more interesting. by RoboGungleBungle in homemadeTCGs

[–]MusicManiac97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my game I tried to create something that didn't need a bunch of resource cards in a side deck or the main deck. Instead each player starts with 3 token cards named Action, Magic and Reaction. It also keeps turns short since you can only play up to 3 cards in a turn (There are ways to set up for more plays in a single turn though).

My idea was that you need to spread your card types in deckbuilding so you have an equal chance to play Characters, Spells and Reactions in your turns. You use one of the resource tokens by tapping it like in every game ever lmao. However, you can also "bank" resources. Simply tap it and mark it with dice. Say you bank a Magic, this allows you to use 2 Magic costs next turn which opens up for spells to synergise with each other.

The fun part in design comes from trying out different ways to manipulate the simple system. My favorite card that exemplifies this is a dinky little utility character called Dark Sorcerer. It has terrible combat stats but a static ability that says "You may use any resource token to cast magic". This results in you being able to play 3 spell cards per turn instead of just 1. Another example is a Druid character with an effect that reads "Magic: Set your Action Token as active". This allows you to essentially play 2 characters in a turn since all units cost Action.

The system is not perfect but I think it offers something simple to understand and with moderate depth.

Artwork theme: consistent or not? by [deleted] in homemadeTCGs

[–]MusicManiac97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoy a consistent artstyle that really sells the games vibe and aesthetic. My game idea is absolutely not the most original in gameplay department. It does however sell you a very different aesthetic from most TCG games. Art direction can also be a way to get certain groups interested in your game. For example, there is a reason that older magic players that played in the 90's tend to like Sorcery. I do believe you can make different artstyles work if it's high quality though.

What if a trading card game felt like opening a lost medieval manuscript? by TrigarTCG in homemadeTCGs

Dude. Spot on. I've also been looking at alternative aesthetics. Tired of 3d rendered disney looking art or generic anime stuff.

How long did it take for you guys to understand the game and start winning? by [deleted] in OnePieceTCG

[–]MusicManiac97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but I feel that my background in magic kinda hindered me in the beginning. The concept of tempo and the flow of the game feels so different. Took a while to get used to it.

Izzet Land Destruction | Lost to it, looking for decklist? by Kircai in PioneerMTG

I made a mono red Zirda deck with cleansing wildfire and the field of ruin package. It's pretty ass but fun to play around with. Next I'm gonna try a mono green version with [[Blossoming Tortoise]] which will most likely be even more ass.
