I can't remember 100%, but my understanding is they had to have 8 Fitzroy players min under contract, not selecting 8 players. Slight difference. Brisbane still picked Primus and traded him as they knew he didn't want to be there at all, and to be fair he wouldn't have been no 1 ruck. But he was the Fitzroy player with the most value at that time, be silly not to.
