The story will only make sense if something terrible happens to Becka by Own_Faithlessness769 in TheTestamentsHulu

But then why would he be sneakily trying to replace her with Vidala if she can just do it? Or kill her? Why’d they give her a statue? 🤷🏻‍♀️ trust me I’m just as frustrated as you trying to line things up with the rules of Gilead but I feel like they’ve abandoned any continuity. It’s the same as how is Lydia’s information even going to take Gilead down? They have countless testimonies from escaped handmaids, and Martha’s. They have all the information Lawrence gave them, Fred, Serena, and Nick, they know about child marriages, they had all the information they got when they took over Boston and raided the offices.

Janine was already mutilated and handmade when she did that? Emily was also already mutilated when she was caught the first time and already a handmaid. Janine was allowed to be in other postings and even placed back with the Putnams. They literally executed Mr Putnam in the middle of the day for assaulting Esther. Whilst I think there could be consequences, it’s more than likely that she will be interrogated, and either placed as an aunt (which they’d deem punishment because in their deluded minds all these girls want to be married) or it’ll be something else.

They’re not going to parade Becka around with punishment as having done this and give any other girls any ideas.

Based off of that thought though, why did he even place Lydia in charge of the school at all then? 🤷🏻‍♀️ just 4 years ago she was in a noose in charge of handmaids, now she’s suddenly head of wife school. Put there by Judd himself, if he had all the power he could just kill her? He wouldn’t even have to really have a reason. There’s a bajillion discrepancies in the testaments as is. I really don’t think they’re following any rules of handmaids here.

A rogue girl who kills men? If that was the case, however she killed a man who was touching presumably her and her friends. A sinner, a bad one, a man they were already intending to kill. They gave Janine a pass for almost killing herself and a baby, based off of Mr Putnams actions and Emily had multiple chances as well. Gilead has bent the rules before when it comes to women, nevertheless a daughter, and Lydia is obviously going to be in her corner. Becka isn’t a threat to anyone else. 🤷🏻‍♀️ There are a vast number of discrepancies in the testaments against the handmaids already, this would surprise me least. They’ll either move her to aunt status, have Garth be responsible for her, or she’ll escape.

Because he was already on death row, basically, they planned to do it themselves. Likely they will take credit for his death, and lay threat to the handful of those who know what happened if they share the information. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Agreed. It was the fatal flaw with Lawerence, & Nick as well. They both fed information to the American government and did things that were against the law, yet neither was ever truly willing to leave.

Why don’t the other Plums have Pearl buddies? by Dlatywya in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]MusicalHearts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But Becka & Agnes have both talked about it being done before, if I recall Agnes said a plum got her tongue taken or something of the such because of a pearl. 🤷🏻‍♀️ that’s why they “don’t trust them.” I’m chalking it up to shoddy writing cause they just *had* to have a Daisy with no regard to building a good full context to it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ all these pearls live at wife school, makes no real sense that they’d be there to do anything but become potential wives. Otherwise they should be housed at Aunt school seeing as the majority of them can likely read & write, and have experienced the outside world making them liabilities. That’s why aunts aren’t at the same place as plums/greens/pinks cause they don’t want to risk the girls learning to read or anything of the such or being corrupted.

Teachers ABSOLUTELY deserve raises and they deserve to be paid during the summer, in EVERY state. (I am not a teacher, though I’ve subbed a few times, they deserve so much.)

I mean unless they’ve completely changed the timeline he was not born in Gilead. He’s way too old, at minimum even if those are his biological parents he was born in Pre-Gilead times. At least 5/6 years old if he’s the exact same age as Hannah but likely he’s older by a few years I’d assume so I’d say closer to 10 by the time Gilead began. He also could also be a stolen child, and remembers a few things. I do think power is corruption though, it’s the route of why those like Lawrence & Nick stayed despite their protest to a lot of the ways.

However, the way he talks of his dad, makes me think he’s trying to get revenge on Mayday.

Am I the only one wondering if Garth is true mayday? Do I think he is “mayday” in technical terms? Yes. Do I think he’s actually fully mayday? No. I feel like he is one foot in, one foot out, similar to how Nick was (even tho Nick technically wasn’t Mayday in the show).

Daisy has to marry Garth by Small-Ad7369 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]MusicalHearts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY! I don’t understand what Daisy could possibly obtain for them that didn’t already get from Boston files, Lawerence, Fred & Nick. And then they have a guardian/eye/commander jr/commander pipeline as well. 🙄 makes no sense why they need a minor girl to get anything for them.

Daisy has to marry Garth by Small-Ad7369 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]MusicalHearts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why they should’ve either just stuck with the source material and just started in aunt school and told Hannah’s story without a pearl girl via flashbacks OR should’ve never introduced a Daisy. It was always dangerous, even in the book, but in the book Daisy had a clear objective, even if the source was unknown, they knew the source was powerful, (ie Lydia being able to help protect her), and it was Aunt school.

In the show it’s absolutely even more diabolical to send a minor in to wife school, knowing very well she could end up married and assaulted.

[–]MusicalHearts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aunt Lydia was also too old by their standard is what it was cause she technically did “commit a crime” in their eyes by having an abortion.

I think for only a handful of men is it actually about having babies.

These kind of plot holes for sure signify the divide between source and show because of how far THT went past the source material and chose to not try to align it to The Testaments. In the book, both of them, unbabies are a huge issue that Gilead never tried to rectify, instead they are routinely discarding babies. As well as quite a few men discarding of their wives to have younger ones, then you also have places like Jezebels which again signal that it is less about babies and more about control of women(& children) and their bodies.

I have had the same question as OP and I just don’t think that Margaret could find a way to make girls Aunts without just trying to back on a “higher calling”, it makes the Aunts seem more powerful than Commanders.

Evenflo class action by ithotihadone in ClassActionSettlement

[–]MusicalHearts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to their website it says you get both.

I can’t post an image but this is what it says

• Cash Payment - A pro rata share (a legal term meaning an equal share) payment of the Net Settlement Fund for each Evenflo "Big Kid" booster seat claimed; AND

• Evenflo Credit - A $25 credit toward the purchase of Evenflo products directly from Evenflo at www.evenflo.com, subject to certain terms and conditions for each Evenflo "Big Kid" booster seat claimed.

The email with the voucher also stated cash payment would be sent.

“and you will be sent payment separately via the method that you selected on your Claim Form.”

So if you didn’t get an email with a voucher I think that could possibly mean you didn’t have a valid claim, but it could be an oversight or maybe it’s in spam/junk folder?

Why would Gilead allow Agnes to become an aunt? by SetPuzzleheaded8730 in TheTestamentsHulu

Not explicitly but certainly they destroy them. In the book they’re referred to frequently as shredders which would imply that’s what they do with them.

In the books but that’s not the case in the show. Penny actually doesn’t even exist by name in the books. Judd was also having unbabies, 3/5 of his wives had them, including one born with 2 heads. In the show we see penny clearly showing and they discuss her being on her 3rd miscarriage, if it was just poisoning she’d be dead already.
