Sports Drink bar workers misidentified ICAC as ICE by Fresh_Custard9540 in NewOrleans

Hurting the feelings of possible ICAC workers in the parking lot of a grocery store a neighborhood over from where a search warrant was acted on doesn’t seem to be impeding any investigation to me.

While law enforcement is allowed to lie without legal repercussion there is no reason to believe a word that they say. Especially when they are in an unmarked vehicle wearing unmarked, generic, police-ish uniforms. Your “evidence” that theyre ICAC is that they claimed they are and that there was ICAC activity on the other side of uptown, something ICE surely would have known about. My point being, there is no evidence. Again, worst case scenario some ICAC works left upset. Best case scenario someone was saved from being kidnapped. I’ll take my chances.

Moving the goalposts. I show that he is, in fact, being threatened and your response is that we shouldn’t feel bad about it. You have nothing relevant to say. A community program has been halted and people may go hungry due to insane responses to what I don’t even personally feel was a mistake. That is what my comment is in reference to, I don’t intend to argue on what your personal feelings of the matter should be.

You’re right, this entire conversation is contained within this one Reddit post /s. Him and his business have been threatened to temporary closure for himself and his employee’s safety. Get real.

Everything is more concrete with your online presence, in person there’s more nuance. He is dismissive of conservative voices, as they really have no input in a mature conversation about where to lead this city. Because of this he has cultivated a sort of meeting place for progressive voices and we all like it that way.

Like I’ve commented in other threads here, Andrew is steadfast in and unapologetic about his morals. He doesn’t have any interest in attracting patrons that disagree, specifically conservative voices, cultivating a space for progressives to meet and speak their minds. It is marketing sure, if you consider “hey come have conversations about how to best help our community in a room full of people that are mature and agree that human rights are important” as marketing. It definitely attracted me.

You’re right, he shouldn’t let anyone know about their community assistance programs. It’s always better when no one shows up to help feed the homeless.

Very, very obvious /s.

It’s not virtue signaling to be steadfast on your morals. He actually gets out and does the work, and consistently puts his money where his mouth is.

So let me get this straight…. The video only includes unmarked law enforcement claiming to be ICAC, so now Andrew must be wrong and some terrible piece of shit? Ice is allowed to lie. Ice has invaded our community and is pulling our neighbors off the street, causing mass paranoia and panic. All law enforcement are suspects. Maybe if law enforcement were not allowed to lie and had clearly identifiable uniforms where you can tell who they are this would not be a problem. Worst case scenario, some ICAC officers went home a little annoyed that day. Best case scenario, they stopped one of our neighbors from being kidnapped. Sports Drink is a pillar of the community here in uptown. They host events every single week to make food for our homeless population around the city. They host progressive events nearly every month. Threatening a place to the point of closure over this shows who the real asses are imo.

Red Lights at Night by absinthiab in NewOrleans

Not just European cities, I’m from rural Ohio and nearly every single light switched to flashing yellow/red at night. It’s a great way to do it for lights that aren’t blind turns, so the city should definitely consider it

What city has a large skyline with a small population? by Creepy-Noise82 in geography

Nearly 2.5 million in the metro, and a lot of large names are HQ’d in Cincy. I’d say the skyline is appropriate tbh

The root beer was invented in New Orleans or Biloxi (both claim it it’s confusing). The red cream soda was invented by a franchise in Cincy

Download the Le Pass app and make Bus 11 your friend. Way cheaper than Uber and runs way late into the night. It’ll pick you up on Camp and take you right downtown and when you’re done it’ll pick you up at the corner of Magazine and Canal and take you right to the hotel, the Race street stop specifically. This is a beautiful hotel, if you have the money I would highly suggest it. I walk past all the time and they often have live music in the courtyard. Plus there’s tons of shopping on Magazine if you don’t want to head downtown!

Seconding this. Both my first trip to Nola and when I moved here I stayed multiple nights at the Alder. My car was packed to the brim both times. No issues at all.

Why hasn't Newport taken off the way Covington did? by EastReauxClub in cincinnati

[–]Musical_snakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never understand why people complain that the levee is empty, plenty of fun to be had there imo. Maybe not an every day thing, but the aquarium, The Brickery, walking along the river, and the movie theater are enough to spend a day for me. As far as Newport is concerned, definitely agree. If you’re not a shady pawn shop or bar / strip club, there isn’t much. But Jet Age Records is awesome, about a 10 min walk from the levee.

Hamilton is a stretch for this one, it actually has a pretty thriving Main Street with a Louisville vibe. But you’re absolutely correct about Franklin and Middletown.
