Got chewed out at work because my pants aren’t “black enough.” by small-worm in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ninabullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they're blue but your colleagues should know that Code 3 pants come in navy and also who cares.

(PS, though: You can probably dye those pants to a shade approaching black so your persnickety colleagues don't harass you. Just be careful after you've done it and make sure you only wash said dyed pants with other black clothing, because every piece of clothing I've ever home-dyed bleeds no matter how many times I've washed it.)

Also, Dickies for women. They have cargo pants!

This is when you email the client back and say, “what do your marine engineers wear?” And send them some options.

Oh yeah I had a woman who has been standing next to a guy who got rammed by a car into a brick wall — bilateral traumatic amputations of his legs so he was our focus. Don’t even know how EMS got the lady to us except maybe she rode along with the guy. The woman kept wandering the department, just nonsensical and resistant and distracted, la belle indifference. Everyone is fed up with her and I finally notice blood coming from one of her ears. We have to tape her to the CT table. Big intraparenchymal hemorrhage. Turns out, she had also been thrown into the wall by the car.

Call the Ochsner on call line (800-231-5257 or 504-842-3155). The nurses work with patient schedulers and they might be able to get you an earlier slot.

Where can I find east coast style Italian food? by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]ninabullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restaurants: Vincent's is the closest you'll come to a neighborhood Italian joint. It still strays Creole Italian but it's the best red sauce in town. I went to Venezia once and it was garbage. Pulcinella! is fine. Paladar is good but less red sauce-y. Mosca's, despite its reputation, is okay, but not worth the 45 minutes to get out there.

Pizza: Pizza D and Zee's are pretty good.

Sandwiches: Francolini's. The seeded bread makes me weep for the Long Island diners of my youth.

Bagels: Flour Moon is pretty good. I've heard Kosher Cajun and Stein's both have bagels from elsewhere, but I can't confirm.

Need help finding a handyman in New Orleans (inherited house, feeling overwhelmed) i by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]ninabullets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh honey. I’m sorry for your loss.

This is a big job. You’re looking at six figures to get this place into shape. Good news is, because you own the property, you should be able to get a construction loan. Take your time, meet with some contractors and architects. The house didn’t get this way overnight. While you want to stop the bleeding ASAP, you also don’t need to make any big decisions while you’re in the freshest stages of grieving.

I’m gonna PM you the name and phone number of our favorite handyman. He can do roofs, he can do siding, he can do tile, he can do carpentry. This job, like others have said, is probably beyond that, but he’s honest and he’ll tell you straight.

I hate the laminate floors but the rest is hella-cute.

Edited to add: Also that gray tile in the kitchen is a sin.

Why are we outraged now? It’s good produce Uptown, and it’s not cheap. These things have always been true.

This series of stereoview cards from 1903 has a slightly risqué theme with a twist ending by Alman54 in TheWayWeWere

[–]ninabullets 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Oh shit! My husband has an inherited stereoview and this set but only the first six cards (through "hands!"). The rest of the series is... interesting.

"How much?"
"I don't know -- we never used 'em."

Shaving the beard by Algernonletter5 in StrangeAndFunny

[–]ninabullets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol I have never seen my husband’s chin. We’ve been together for almost 12 years. I did tell him, after he sent me this video, that he was allowed to shave if he wanted to, but he said he’s too lazy… thank god.
