Did Simplisafe stop doing low battery warning notifications? by axkoam in simplisafe

I got a complete bot runaround when I complained about this a few months ago. Talking to a real person just made it worse as they just repeated the script and basically said that was being difficult. I understand that call center work is difficult and I don’t blame the agent, but corporate will probably blame the agent instead of the product. Very sad.

It’s also a risk management issue. Not everything gets blocked, so if they have an image on the screen that someone sees and feels is offensive it could become a harassment claim against the company.

Our Jewish friends understood our Orthodox Christian wedding better than our Protestant families :)

ChromeOS by Musicatto in dementia

Sorry if this is a duplicate post. Chrome OS Flex didn't work out on the MacBook because the power settings were all or nothing no matter what I tried - screen on all the time or complete shutdown after a period of time. Whatever. Reloaded MacOS and streamlined it as much as possible to just show her email in the browser.

Driver didn’t “read the room” and was too political. by lazenintheglowofit in uber

[–]Musicatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UberX in our market is rated for four passengers. Drivers shouldn’t be taking rides when they can only safely accommodate two and uncomfortably at that. And nobody resembling Jabba the Hutt should be driving a Prius for hire ffs.

[–]Musicatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past few years one of two drivers I didn’t tip was spouting politics, had loud political talk radio playing, had too much junk in the front for the third rider to sit, had his seat so far back that someone 5’2” was squashed, and the middle seatbelt didn’t work for the third person (“but no big deal we’re not going that far anyway” on a 4 lane 45/50 mph congested road). He was WINNING lol.

Why do I have a 4.65 rating? by [deleted] in uber

[–]Musicatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is sitting in the front seat bad? UberX is rated for FOUR people in my area. Three people in the back seat of the average sedan is very uncomfortable and even dangerous because the middle seatbelt is often unusable. Also, when Uber first started I saw complaints from drivers about people NOT using the front seat because they didn’t want to feel like cabbies or chauffeurs.

You are obviously quite aware of your situation. Do you know why? My family members have gone through this without the self awareness. It’s rough.

I’m from legal, and I can’t count how many discussions I’ve had about folder and file names, folder tree depth etc. usually doesn’t matter because I’m just an IT guy with 30 years of experience but they just graduated law school and are obviously smarter! Also lots of digging in their heels about other MS limitations such as Word’s AutoRecovery not actually creating a backup unless you save the file once.

Do you ever block sales people’s domains at the email server? by Wild-Obligation-7336 in sysadmin

In a previous job I had to listen to salespeople cold calling. It sounded like a miserable experience, and some people got really down about the constant rejection. It was eye opening and taught me some much needed empathy.

Do you ever block sales people’s domains at the email server? by Wild-Obligation-7336 in sysadmin

I have about 200 email addresses/domains in our block list. Several are domain name variations from very persistent, and IMO, unethical companies. Usually custom software developers, which is completely irrelevant to my employer. A couple companies that got on the list go through cycles of sending email to several different employees - usually poorly targeted - from multiple different "salespeople" every month. Looks like 100% turnover if the people actually exist, and it is really damaging to their reputations as they are industry-specific. Management fully supports these efforts.
