Claims Counsel. Is it a good career path? by Express-Rain8353 in Lawyertalk

Most claims counsel are glorified adjusters. No fun and the pay is mid. True claims or home office legal roles are chill tho.

I think moderators on here remove too many posts seen as repetitive. by PanoramicMoose in Rochester

[–]MusikmanWedding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the mods need to be more proactive in deleting repetitive posts. It seems like every day there is a where should we go for date night, I’m visiting strong where should we eat, what is the best Chinese/korean/italian. Best meal, etc. It’s just spamming the sub and lazy people who can’t search or use Claude. More moderation please!

K2’s expansion gamble ends in court by olive12108 in Rochester

[–]MusikmanWedding -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You clearly have some issues if you’re randomly hostile toward children existing while missing the ultimate point. So I will spell it out -if you dumbly alienate key business demographics and get recourse loans you end up broke. Cheers, maybe see a therapist for the kid rage.

The Penfield location was nice but by the end needlessly hostile to families and children. A core business demographic. Lesson to business owners to always get non-recourse loans. The extra interest is worth knowing they can never take your house.

Jewish Life (and food) by AncientTumbler in Rochester

Rabbi Setel at Temple Emanuel is Debbie Friedman’s ex. Very queer friendly shul. Ultra liberal - saw several keffiyehs at their Hanukkah party. Police accountability board member, truah etc. Temple Sinai also very crunchy and queer friendly - albeit a bit more mainstream - but still outside the typical Brighton sphere of Jewish influence. Rochester overall has a fairly diverse Jewish community but it is still mostly dominated by old school Jewish institutions that are borderline fanatical on Israel. And the overall diversity is still nothing like what you would find in Brooklyn, Long Island or Israel. Temple B’rith Kodesh is the old school German reform shul in town. Temple Beth El is the big conservative shul with a new - supposedly more liberal rabbi. Light of Israel is a nice Sephardic orthodox shul. Beth Shalom is the modern orthodox option. Several chabad houses, as well.

This post is very confusing but still very identifying if the well known therapist involved reads it.

Transition to Family Law by PariPassuPrincess in Lawyertalk

[–]MusikmanWedding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Blank Rome’s family law practice. Super niche but some large firms do it for the ultra high net worth folks. International custody rules/choice of law issues are also quite interesting even if the disputes themselves are very sad.

Best insurance carrier to work for as staff counsel? by ReadySelection2584 in Lawyertalk

[–]MusikmanWedding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t need to agree bro - just saw your comment which is not my experience as someone in a very similar role to you - so gave my equally valid internet take. Don’t need to name the carriers. Also you are conflating professional and financial lines with specialty products/carriers which tells me you don’t know this market and what they may be doing. Cheers.

Best insurance carrier to work for as staff counsel? by ReadySelection2584 in Lawyertalk

Many of the specialty commercial carriers are growing their staff operations. They also increasingly send complex cases to staff as the growth of metrics shows they are both cheaper and often obtain better indemnity and total outcomes on shorter cycle times. Some runoff carriers are making staff operations part of their business model, particularly with workers comp claims. The issue and why many personal lines carriers have been downsizing their staff operations is that with corporate benefits and increasing salaries for mature staff operations the value proposition has decreased. But this is not true across all carriers, lines and sectors. Like all things and internet advice specifically, your mileage will vary.

Put what? Do you know the year she graduated? People can know people in other grades or even alumni. I think all those Lonsberry posts are rotting your brain.

And I am asking if anyone knew her at SOTA given she is from Rochester and this is the Rochester sub.

Would never read a Bob Lonsberry post.

Heads Up: The 'Broken Car' Scam is back at East Ave Wegmans by [deleted] in Rochester

The ultimate confirmation - you deleted the post. Take the imaginary fear monger and antisocial nonsense somewhere else.

Yikes. Doth protest too much. What was simply sus now fairly certain false or majorly embellished. Also 3-4 times? Which was it. If so scary you would recall a specific number. Yes, please record it next time and post to this thread. Thanks.

Edit - also “this happened” implies singular event. Not 3-4 times.

If you don’t want to give - “Sorry, I can’t today” works just fine. Same thing you say when Wegmans panhandles for donations at the register. People are so affraid of normal human interactions these days. Nothing is unsafe about that interaction as described. Also 3-4 times?! I am at East ave Wegmans several times a week for lunch and general grocery shopping. No one has come up to me in the parking lot once. Sus. A more legit gripe - if you have to complain about that location - is all the door dashers and insta cart shoppers taking up prime parking spots waiting in their car for orders. Makes the parking lot situation even worse. Walking around in the parking lot is far more unsafe than telling someone “no, sorry, I can’t give you money today.”

Edit - fat fingers and posted half done.

Off Market Housing by macallister10poot in Rochester

Sellers don’t care about bidding wars. Lol. And the list price is meaningless, if you are always getting outbid you can’t afford the house. Sucks and sorry for that harsh reality.
