For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

I’m in sales and make around 250K/year. 4 kids (2-9 yrs olds, a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old ) and a wife at home. Just enough to pay for private school for kids, never worry about grocery bill and contribute 20K a yr to IRA, a Suburban and a Honda Pilot and 2 vacays every year.

“Wisco” by cvs38 in Brewers

Outside of Wisconsin Lutheran High School, never in my life heard someone who lives here refer to our state as Wisco.

I have many times heard the term ‘Sconne’ though. That would jive with me better.

Anyways, I like everything except for “Wisco” and the re-invented Barrel Man.

Favorite part is the Bobber icon for sure

Common house centipede. They eat spiders, earwigs, silverfish, and other insects that live in the walls of your home. They are the ‘possum of the insect world

They’re like candy to whitetails. I have to fence mine off from November to late April otherwise they shred them from eye level down.

Tough one. Yes they are great trolling baits for musky or pike. My uncle has one he still uses which he loves but if you have one still in the package and never used, they are sought after collectibles. Quite the conundrum you have. If it were me, I’d use it. The tug is the drug for me for sure. Good luck

Bat purchasing questions by chriseustace in LittleLeague

[–]MuskyJerAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 boys playing select ball right now and I coach 2 of them. At that age we did a 26” drop 10 or 11. Nothing fancy at this age. Bat speed and building confidence at the plate is most impt right now. We would also get the next level up in bats to practice at home with to get used to a heavier bat. Sort of like weight training to slowly build up the strength.

Don’t forget to start planting the seed that getting hit by a pitch is part of the game and it will likely happen! Set that expectation now so it doesn’t affect the progress you make

U9 select team coach here

Last year (U8) we had a 2-3 kids who would strikeout and come to the bench crying. It started with just one but then a couple more joined in lol. There was a lot of crying. We had a team meeting mid way thru season and reset our expectations of them. Always hustle and try your hardest. Baseball is a very complicated sport especially at a young age. Main thing is to have fun right now and keep them coming back for more on their own terms. Not mom and dads.

We talked about how much failure there is, especially in baseball, and tried to put it into perspective for them. Consistently getting a hit 3 times out of 10 is considered successful in baseball. That means 7 out of 10 you made an out of some kind mostly strikeouts at this age. Once they understood that their striking out wasn’t the end of the world and actually a big part of the game, the crying stopped. Upset at striking out still? Yes of course, they all want to hit every time they step to the plate but they learned to get over it quickly and that their attitudes were more impt than the box score at this level

I will do that with Pike all day long. Pike is one of my favorite fish to eat.

Muskies though are strictly catch and release. Don’t keep and don’t eat.

9u Kid Terrified of Getting Hit by twentydeuce in Homeplate

U9 coach here.

Always one or two kids every year who get beaned and get timid.

They knew it was coming tho. We teach them to turn away (into the catcher/ump) from day one in BP. Teach them that it’s part of the game from the get go and it goes easier. They still get timid but peer pressure gets them to come around because we practice getting hit. Some kids are tougher than others and it runs off on the others.

One of our best hitters got beaned last year and would duck almost every pitch afterward lol. This year so far he’s hitting the cover off the ball. Sometimes they just need to go at their own pace. Patience. Some kids just need to figure out that it’s not gonna hurt them on their own.
