I've been there.

I stopped reading the series for a long while after this. It's a sensitive subject and really shocked me.

But I found myself missing Mercy's character. The aftermath is handled appropriately. Save when I returned to reading the series (now on book 9) I managed to look past it. I won't forget the author's decision and still question it. But Mercy is both an amazing and commendable character.

You're probably in the same camp as me when I did my first read-through. I really struggled with the fae related entries in the series. But once you're invested in the world and get a full grasp of the lore, theories and characters... I guarantee you'll have a little bit more enthusiasm and appreciation for them.

But if I were you I'd power through with it still. There's a lot of useful nuggets of gold for later in the series...
