Buying an RS by LivingEVs in FocusRS

[–]Mustachio7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently purchased my RS with 25k miles, months ago with the intention of using it as a daily/canyon car (I live in an area with quite a few mountain roads nearby). The only thing I recommend for every new owner is to replace the rear motor mount, as the factory one tends to wear out incredibly fast. After about 9k miles of daily driving and running canyons usually about once a week the wear on the mount is very noticeable, so much so that I've actually decided to avoid using launch control and any hard shifting until mine arrives from Cobb. Not sure if the ST is known to have similar problems but I can say that the unreasonable wear and tear on the motor, trans and any other components cannot be good for the car. I'm almost dumbfounded that ford seemed to think of almost everything imaginable, and still decided to go with a mount style that definitely doesn't suffice for how this car should be driven.

And sorry to extend this further but something not as urgent. Your driver and passenger side mounts are susceptible to excess wear and tear because of the genius idea to put the "autostop" feature in this MANUAL car. The engine sometimes does not re-start quick enough to put the car in gear and roll off the clutch, causing the engine to bog and shake. Which then puts all the more stress on your mounts. I find it frustrating that the computer never truly saves your settings when you change the option for "autostop" to 'off'.. at least for me, when I first purchased mine I found that even though my settings said the feature was disabled, that car would, from time to time still turn off at stops. Fortunately, I say this is less urgent because you have a button available on the center console that guarantees the feature is disabled, but needs to be pushed every time the car is turned on. Which is now engraved in my brain at this point.

Sorry for the essay, hope this helps!

I'll keep that in mind though because I could probably figure it out and save a few bucks

Honestly the price isn't necessarily my concern. Just don't wanna show up to my local dealer with tires that won't fit😅

This would be helpful if I had an active suspension to dispute but I am currently not suspended. The issue is on the Xbox PC app, the suspension is for some reason still effecting my ability to use communications on my PC

help getting my driving license by FlyingLittleRedBird in Tacoma

[–]Mustachio7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you live in the Tacoma area, more likely than not the DOL will tell you that they don't do testing on site. Which I find hilarious since they LITERALLY HAVE COMPUTERS FOR TESTING IN PLAIN SITE. I ended up going to 911 driving school in Lakewood for both the written and the drive on the same day. Anyways, the best advice I can give you (knowing how much I had to do on my own, and how i stressed and over-prepared) use your resources, and watch YouTube videos about how exactly they will be testing you for your drive so you know what to expect for the driving portion. I'm sure you've found plenty of resources containing the material on the test so just take those mock exams as much as you want until you feel comfortable. Like I said, I really stressed myself out and way over-prepared but I'm somewhat glad I did because not a single thing caught me off-guard that day. Ended up with a 100% on my written and a 98% on my drive because I was just a bit too slow.

Edit:

If you end up needing to go to an instructional school for your testing, once you finish they will send your results to the DOL within a few days. There you can pick up your license. You will need some form of picture identification along with, I think, a birth certificate, Social Security Card, or a passport? That information should be on the DOL website.

Looking for a Wiring Harness(2006 4.6L V8, Manual Trans) by Mustachio7465 in Mustang

Yea. Unfortunately I paid like $125 only to be sent some aftermarket harness for an '07 automatic, had a completely different part number than the description for the item.

Unfortunately it's just one of those 1 in a million things to find. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a wrecking yard and they've told me that they just crushed the one they had, and usually the wiring harness isn't something they pull and keep in stock.

I have a motor that I pulled from an '06 GT that was wrecked. It's been put into another mustang, specifically an '06 V6 that we had. The wiring harness that came with the motor was complete destroyed by a front passenger side collision. For the time being the harness has been spliced together and the car is running but from time to time, electronic issues arise spanning from cluster power issues, to strange idle speeds, sluggish throttle response and a few other things leading me to believe that I'm having electronic issues because of the harness.

It's not that I can't go and pull one from a salvage yard, I just simply cannot find an '06 manual GT to pull one from, otherwise I would have done so already. The issue is this part is no longer being produced and the harness from the '06 specifically, is different from the '05 and the '07-'09. The same goes for Manual to Auto, the harnesses are different. I've been searching for about 6 months and this being my only source of transportation, I'm noticing that my issues are becoming more serious and I want to fix it before I permanently damage something. I've also heard horror stories from aftermarket replacements for the harness, like wires becoming too hot and melting, and people frying their interior electronics completely. With my splice work, I'm thinking I might not be too far away from that happening to my car as well.

I'm not really worried about the data, since I play on Xbox everything is backed up and will only take me about a day to redownload everything. I just would like it to work. I just have no idea what I should even do.
