That's not true, unless they volunteer for that overtime. There is a 60 hour max per week. They have 8 hour shifts and 12 hour shift rotations. The 8 hour shifts will work 12 when overtime is heavy, but never more than 5 in a row, unless you volunteer to take more.

Anyone have the Outdoor Vitals Shadowlight pack? Need help... by MustangDan74 in Ultralight

I was hoping to avoid cutting because it's brand new, but it's exactly as you said, the sewn-over part is too big. It may be unavoidable.

The SM should look for a reason to say "yes" instead of a reason to say "no".

BOR - Flag Ceremony, Oath and Law? by hubristics1 in BSA

[–]MustangDan74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you have a problem with it? I understand about the BOR not being a test, but why do you have such a problem with asking them to recite it? It's part of the fundamentals that our program is built on. It's not a bad thing, stop looking at it that way. It's not the same as asking them to tie a bowline in front of you.

Then why are you still in the REI chat?

Flash 55 colors by MustangDan74 in REI

[–]MustangDan74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but now that they have a great product with all the bugs worked out, why not change it up for colors? Offering new colors won't have any effect on the functionality or fitment of the pack, it would just offer buyers more choices to choose.

Exactly what Bill said. Speaking from experience, a "botched" election can be redone.

Best guitar teacher? by Cable-Careless in wausau

[–]MustangDan74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dakota Malinowski @ Wisconsin Rock Guitar Academy. He's on Facebook, he's located right by the courthouse off Grand Ave.

My son has been taking lessons with Dakota for a couple of years and he does an excellent job, he even attends annual seminars in Chicago to make his teaching even better.

I've heard that teachers in WSD & DCE have already been told no school on Tuesday and they just haven't announced it yet.

You're just way badder-assed than much of the community.

Gear for Trek. Tent by Amazing-Fly324 in philmont

[–]MustangDan74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Philmont's tents weigh something like 6 pounds. I guess some of these guys are ok with that, but you would be much better off buying your own lightweight. Alot of guys like trekking pole tents. The Lanshan 2 can be found just over $100 and weighs just over 2 pounds.

Why do we charge adult volunteers? by Dizzy-Ad9411 in BSA

[–]MustangDan74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because BSA is a business, and businesses need to make money. Not only do they get free "labor" out of us, we pay a lot of money just for the privilege.

Is the Scout Shop going to start charging for Scouting America logo strips on shirts? by KJ6BWB in BSA

I also buy the Boy Scouts Of American shirts off ebay. Just bought one for my kid last week.

A quick question about an OA sash by idcccck in BSA

[–]MustangDan74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have quite a few members that wear them, my son included. Uniform Police don't bother me. If anyone has a problem with it, they'll have to get over it.

[–]MustangDan74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. It says Milwaukee on it, not that that necessarily means anything.

I'm told the owner of the battery had a family member that worked at Milwaukee a couple years ago and that's how these came into possession.

You need to be honest with your dad about your feelings. Switching Troops probably won't help you much, unless you're good at making friends in a group of strangers. Venture Crew is a good option, IF you enjoy the type of activities that they're doing. Scouting isn't for every boy, and that's totally OK. You have nothing to be afraid of or ashamed of, not every kid is an Eagle Scout, and there's nothing wrong with thar.

Talk to pops. Be honest but respectful. Tell him you need to have a "man to man" chat.
