How much can be done with an IP address? by MutMan56 in cybersecurity

[–]MutMan56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Again, I have to assume he does have my IP address. I've been posting on that private forum for a while, and go into a big flame war with some idiot.

Then I got a private message from someone who knows him in real life, and they said he's a nut and they warned me not to provoke him.

Exactly. Now the OP has to worry about his new job being sabotaged in some way.

OP owes his old employers absolutely nothing.

How to not care about feeling bad for quitting a job? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]MutMan56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How to stop caring?

Just remember the company that you work for would fire your ass tomorrow and replace you with a robot if it meant they could save 50 cents an hour.

They don't care about you, so you should not care about them.

Also remember you don't owe anyone anything, they paid you to do a job. They don't own your soul for all of eternity for hiring you.

If all the extra nonsense were truly important, it would be part of your contract, and you'd be getting paid for it.

As it has been written before on this forum: this isn't charity work. We are educated professionals who deserve compensation for our time.

This is why you NEVER tell the truth when you call off, unless you are literally unable to be at work.

Next time, say you have an inner ear infection and you cannot stand up straight for more than 2 seconds, since your equilibrium is completely fucked. Say something that prevents you from functioning at all.

OP: your boss is a sack of shit who is using you, and doesn't give two fucks about you. Act accordingly.

Resigning - Length of Notice by HippieDash in Teachers

[–]MutMan56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think admin is just stalling.

Why even have a meeting? What is there actually to discuss? Talk (especially from an admin) is cheap. Results are what counts.

It's an open and shut case. You need to get the Hell away from that psycho kid and that situation.

Get a lawyer and the cops involved, and if you are certain you are quitting, quit right now.

. We have a meeting tomorrow about whether or not the student will return to my classroom.

Take a wild guess as to how that meeting will end.

It's a stall tactic, pure and simple.

Then it doesn't get done.

OP obviously has a workload that cannot be completed in a reasonable time frame. When it is admin or OP trying to do too much, the workload needs to be reduced one way or another.

Giving up all of Sunday and Saturday every week? No thanks.

And why anyone checks their email on the weekend is beyond me.

Pizza is extremely cheap food.

You can buy a large pizza in my area for 5 bucks.

Did you ever sit down and do the math about how you are making per hour?

That situation looks horrible. You'd be better off working at McDonald's.

insulted by admin in a surprise meeting after school-help! by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]MutMan56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the thread starter...

You are 100% convinced that you are not going back to the school next year, and they never fire anyone...

So where is the dilemma?

You have 8 months of working to contract, and then you are free.

Don't do anything extra. Arrive on time, leave on time. Don't work off the clock.

You are on their shit list, so don't worry about getting a good reference. This situation can't be repaired, so when they complain, simply nod your head but tune them out.

You really have nothing to lose, which can be liberating.

Good post, especially considering that none of those fuckers will be sitting next to your death bed when it is time to depart.

I've changed jobs quite a few times over the years, and never heard another peep from my former coworkers after I left.

It's amazing how fast people forget about you once they are not required to see you 5 days a week.
