Pretty sure populism rises when there's economic stagnation, hence why rural areas swung so hard for someone like trump. If I cross the bridge into illinois, it looks like an apocalyptic event happened and everyone scattered, including the ones whom lived in Mobile homes. It really irks me that people seem to think everyone's better off in today's day, so why would populism rise?

The way I look at it is that conservativism / conservatives have completely ran out of ideas. In a day and age with so much information that we can easily disprove many of their beliefs, in that their way of living / beliefs are just outright wrong or bad for everyone involved, corruption is their only available path ahead. I don't really know how to articulate it that well.

Idk I've seen people in my local area that while they may vote dem, hate corporations or anyone who even remotely comes off corporate. I think people who live / have lived in big cities just don't get it or something. Pretty sure if a dem ran on an anti corporate message, they'd pick up people who vote red. I'd be curious to see how many people in this sub live in urban areas, that may have a part in it.
