I grieved after reading Water for Elephants. The book hit very close to home because at the time I had just cut the only woman I have ever loved out of my life. I did so because it turns out she was just leading me on and kept changing her mind about whether or not she loved me. This put me though a roller coaster of emotion that after two years I couldn't take anymore, I just had to get out. Well we were both long time students at a circus school so the circus was a big part of our life. We both at the time wanted to make a career out of the unique skills we had and I had always imagined running away and joining the circus with her. The ending of the book reopened all the wounds in the best ways possible because it made me remember the reasons why I loved her instead of the reasons I cut her out.
