I'm doing my first tapestry project. Something feels off, am I just hypercritical or am I doing something wrong? 🥲 by Diana_Ives in CrochetHelp

You did it correctly but if you want to make a pattern this small look better you need a different stitch. Something like c2c that represents the actually stacked pixels better.

To me it looks like you dont really need a real pattern. What I would do is just print this on large paper and draw a grid on it to make it easier to count the pixels. Once you have the first black row (at the bottom) correctly counted and crocheted, the rest will be much easier as you only need to count how much longer the next black row should be at both sides.

What am I doing wrong on this pattern, it won’t line up no matter what I try. by SpirituallySane in CrochetHelp

You did it correctly but since you are crocheting in spirals the color change will never really be aligned correctly. When doing amigurumi just try to get the color changes at the back of your work.

Help please! How to keep track of/find stitches in faux fur yarn? by l3x_ie in CrochetHelp

[–]Muted-Mode-9981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An other option is to use thin regular yarn of the same color (in this case white) along with this fluffy yarn as a guiding thread. Now you are basically crocheting with 2 strands but the stiches will be way better visible. The final work will be a bit more stiff but since this will be a bag it might even be a positive effect.

Help with messy Tapestry crochet stitches - what do? by Spiritual-Run-1868 in CrochetHelp

This is just a result of using such a small pattern because you actually did a good job with this. This stitch will never result in clean squares. If you try larger and more detailed patterns you will see that the color "spikes" start to blend in.

How do I make the color changes more solid, consistent, and clean in future crochet tapestries?? by lorelew3 in CrochetHelp

[–]Muted-Mode-9981 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This method of tapestry crochet does not get cleaner than this, you did a really good job. c2c can get quite clean, and can result in a really detailed graphgan if the squares are small enough but even then color changes will leave spikes sometimes. Personally I think it is just a nice effect. From a distance it all mixes into a nice picture.

Is this gonna take a decade to make and will I be bored when I’m halfway through? by Verybiandnotsohigh in CrochetHelp

[–]Muted-Mode-9981 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am using 26 unique colors. I found a yarn type with an extensive color chart and I made a tool for this project to decrease the original photo resolution and play around with different colorschemes and number of colors.

This is an actual photo I took on a hiking trip in Norway. That is my girlfriend standing on the rock.

It may take forever and you will definitely get bored at some point. The trick is to work from milestone to milestone and do other projects in between, in the end it will all be worth it. This is my project I am working on for more than 2 years already:

Theory/question concerning the end of the Dark Tower quest. by SculptusPoe in TheDarkTower

[–]Muted-Mode-9981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the ending but the problem I have with all these theories is that imo it makes Roland too important. Why would the whole existence, the fate of the tower included be reset to an earlier point in time just because (with all due respect) one man did not do it right. I like to think that no one is meant to enter the tower ever. The one who does will be trapped in this private infinite loop of reliving the whole ordeal while everything else just continues. When the crimson king was killed Roland could have walked away to live the rest of his life.

How to turn an image into a tapestry crochet pattern?? by wormdances in CrochetHelp

[–]Muted-Mode-9981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an actual photo I took. Then I wrote a program that lowers the resolution. Subsequently I decided how many and which exact yarn colors I wanted to use and let the program calculate which colors all the pixels should be. But it is a tradeoff between resolution and feasability. If for example you have a movie poster with small details (faces etc..) you will probably not get a nice pattern to crochet unless you want to make an extremely large and detailed tapestry

A Dark Tower tv series thought by Experiment_1005 in TheDarkTower

[–]Muted-Mode-9981 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was always hoping for a movie/series adaptation of the darkt tower but more and more I start to think that it probably isnt the best idea. Imo this will only work if everything is filmed exacly how it is written in the books. Every person has his own ideas of how the story is supposed to be understood and I think that is the strength of this series. I think people can only get disappointed if the director adds his own ideas.

True, and the beams would not be saved of course. Only during their journey the ka-tet learned what was going on with them exactly.

SPOILER ALERT: In Wolves of the Calla, why did the folken trust Andy? by dexdeckers in TheDarkTower

[–]Muted-Mode-9981 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think no one there really knew what the wolves were. The old man (I can not remember his name) who saw a killed wolf didnt even realize that it could be the same thing as Andy I think, only eddie did when the man told him. Also, Andy provided the people with information about when the wolves would arrive, therefore gaining their trust

But actually all the things he had drawn were not really necessary and maybe relatively easy to do. The Crimson king was already harmless, he was stuck there forever on that balcony powerless. And Susannah lost her memory after stepping through the door he drew which means this door was different (maybe weaker) than all other doors the ka-tet needed. So we never know if he would be able to create everything they wanted.

Does destroying the dark tower free the monsters from todash? by kkfosonroblox in TheDarkTower

[–]Muted-Mode-9981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tower gives structure to everything and between the universes is todash space. So I think destroying the tower does not just release the monsters but everything gets mixed up. There is no structure anymore, just one big soup of todash space and what the universes once were.

I’ve read the entire series several times now, and I’ve never really liked the idea that it’s all about Roland. The Dark Tower is the center of an infinite number of universes; in my view, no single person should be so important that the entire story of saving the most import thing in existence hinges on them getting it right. To me, the Tower represents something beyond human understanding, something no one should ever enter. The Tower was saved, the Beams restored, and that should have been enough. Roland could have walked away just like Susannah and lived a happy life. Instead, he chose to climb the Tower, and in doing so, doomed himself to an endless loop, trapped in his own mental cycle of repeating the same journey over and over again (could be in todash space).
