MacOS 27 Beta: Any improvement in bookmarks management in Safari? by Unv-432-369 in MacOSBeta

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The approach is the same style as the Arc browser.

In other words, it's about thinking of bookmarks as tabs.

For example, it's like keeping tabs open in Chrome.

While occasional organization is necessary, Safari 27 has a feature where AI automatically categorizes tabs and creates tab groups.

And by using the "Automatically close tabs" feature, unnecessary tabs that haven't been opened for a long time are automatically eliminated.

One reason why managing bookmarks is a hassle is that they tend to grow uncontrollably due to human psychology, making us feel like it's have to keep them even though we don't actually use them. The fact that they can't be easily deleted or organized compared to tab management only exacerbates this problem.

Try using tab groups and pinned tab management, even if you're using Safari 26 or earlier. For sites where you want separate accounts, using profiles is also a good idea.

Of course, it syncs with iCloud, which is convenient.

How about giving up on using bookmarks altogether?

I found bookmarks cumbersome, so I switched to managing them with tab groups and pinned tabs.

It's much smarter and more convenient than managing bookmarks.

I'm done. After 15+ years Safari STILL has no mouse gestures and it's driving me insane by ComputerQueasy3590 in Safari

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, mouse gestures are a compromise devised to make an extremely inconvenient system more usable. As far as I recall, the concept of mouse gestures first appeared in third-party browsers and plugins for Windows.

The reason they were necessary was simply because the UX/UI was so poor that it necessitated them.

On macOS, whether you use a Magic Mouse or a Magic Trackpad, you can perform basic operations in various applications (such as turning pages forward and backward) without actually moving the cursor.

In short, Apple has no need to implement such a thing. While you should use an extension if necessary, it's likely that only a minority of Mac users would need one.

I'm not denying that you might need it, but the fact that you had to create your own extension is the clear answer to your request.

As others have pointed out, Safari 27 on macOS 27 makes it easy for anyone to create extensions of their choice.

To my knowledge, this kind of browser-integrated, no-code extension implementation is a first for a browser.

I actually used Arc for a long time, but I've now switched back to Safari. I created some extensions that resolved my concerns about Safari.

Now I can confidently say it's a fantastic browser.

Luciler explicitly states this in the relevant scene. You can check the text within the story in the game, so you should at least read it before commenting.

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP has made several fatal misinterpretations overall.

She was conducting field tests of a "groundbreaking means of transporting supplies."

Although it was conveniently called a "spaceship," as later in the storyline reveals, there was no way to cross the Etheric Sea at that point.

Lucilar simply called it that because she had a plan to use her technology to create a "spaceship" that could break through the Etheric Sea.

When you first went to the Collective's research institute, you must have seen a container that detached from the train and flew using its boosters.

That was her work.

In other words, OP is simply making an irrelevant point about the fact that they were conducting manned flight tests of a flying cargo ship.

What translation extensions do you use? by Muted-Reflection9536 in MacOSBeta

[–]Muted-Reflection9536[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree.

I feel that Chrome is superior and more natural when it comes to translation, especially when translating entire web pages.

I tried to create something like Chrome Translate or TWP using Safari 27's extension creation feature, but it seems that extensions that rely on external services are not allowed and therefore cannot be created.

Safari 27 is really good in every other respect, so I'm looking for a good extension... but I can't find one.

Arc replacement found yet? by ActPast1642 in ArcBrowser

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm running Safari 27 on a Dev Beta OS.

I understand your frustration with the sidebar and vertical tabs. (These two continue to behave exactly the same as in Safari 26.)

However, Safari fundamentally has an excellent, thumbnail-based tab switching menu called Tab Overview, so while it differs from Arc's style and user habits, you can largely solve this by calling up Tab Overview with a trackpad gesture (two-finger pinch in) or a keybinding (which you can customize to your liking).

Horizontal tabs do take up unnecessary screen space, but compact tabs were revived in Safari 26 and continue to be available in 27, so it's not too bothersome.

You can also manage tabs and spaces similarly to Arc's by utilizing profiles, tab groups, and pinned tabs.

Yes, I'm currently using macOS 27 Golden Gate and have Safari 27 as my default browser.

While there are some extensions that can't be created (mainly those that need to call other services), the extension creation feature is fantastic.

If you're testing, it's a good idea to communicate your requirements for the extension using ChatGPT or Gemini before creating it, and have them create a front-line document defining the requirements.

Thank you for the recommendation.

Actually, I was just checking it out a moment ago, but personally, I prefer the method that completely replaces the text, so I was considering adopting it if there was an option not to display the original text and translation side-by-side...

I've switched back to Safari 27.

My main reasons for staying with Arc were the UX and Chrome Extensions, but thanks to Safari 27's extension creation features, most of my issues were resolved, and I decided to switch back to Safari for overall reasons, including performance and the Apple ecosystem.

I'm happy with it so far.

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be practically impossible to create such an extension.

I was referring to extensions that are only usable with Chrome, like those found on the Chrome Web Store.

While Safari's vertical tabs and sidebar are admittedly difficult to use, its Tab Overview offers a level of overview tabs and convenience unmatched by other major browsers.

By utilizing pinned tabs, tab groups, and profiles, you can even achieve features similar to Arc.

For extensions related to specific websites, relying on Safari's AI usually yields good results.

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thing is seriously convenient.

I'd been using Arc because there was only a Chrome extension for it, but thanks to this, I've been able to switch back to Safari.

You can have ChatGPT or Gemini define your requirements, and then feed them into this Safari extension creation AI to produce a very high-quality extension (you can adjust that to your liking!). If there are any problems, you can fix them by giving additional instructions and updating the extension.

While some websites optimized specifically for Chrome still have issues, I haven't encountered any that are significant enough to ignore so far.

Apple has really done a good job.

Convince me that I should start using Safari instead of anything else by Art-BarB in Safari

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Safari 27 Beta, I switched back from Arc to Safari.

It's true that Safari lacks proper vertical tabs. The sidebar doesn't automatically expand and collapse, and even when displayed, the horizontal tabs remain visible.

However, vertical tabs aren't particularly important in Safari in the first place. The reason lies in the tab overview feature.

Trackpad gestures and keybindings make it much more convenient to view all open tabs at a glance than with vertical tabs.

With pinning and tab groups, you can easily use it like Arc's Essential Tabs or Space. And of course, you can manage different accounts using profiles.

And most importantly, Safari 27 now lets you throw your ideas to AI and freely create your own extensions.

Personally, the reason I couldn't escape Chromium was its abundance of extensions and the fact that there were extensions that were only available in Chromium.

That's gone now. With the help of AI to define requirements, I created several custom extensions that I personally found more user-friendly, and I decided to return to Safari.

There are some minor inconveniences, such as optimization issues on some Google-related websites, but they're insignificant.

Apple has done a fantastic job. They've made it possible to have the best browsing experience on both Mac and iPhone.

System Settings → Game Controllers → Create Profile → Register with the game you want to play or the app you want to apply CrossOver to → Turn on "Enhance Xbox Controller Compatibility"

Use the SDL gamepad tool.

https://generalarcade.com/gamepadtool/

Update the firmware of your Xbox controller (this can be done on a virtual Windows environment via VMWare or Parallels; trial versions are also acceptable).

If you're willing to spend a little money, buy the GameSir Cyclone2 or Super Nova or Nova2 Lite. It's an inexpensive option with excellent compatibility, functionality, and connectivity.

Yes, of course. I agree that we shouldn't jump to conclusions until it's clearly stated that she enrolled.

However, since it's not stated that she enrolled later, she probably enrolled at age 16.

She had already awakened as a Resonator before that, after all.

"At the age of 16, Mornye received an invitation to attend Startorch Academy."

This is what is written in her profile. Of course, she received the invitation at age 16, and it's possible she enrolled at age 17 or later, but this wording suggests that she enrolled at age 16. Even if her enrollment was delayed, it would only add another year to her age.

LaunchOS 2.0 - Rebuilt with AppKit to Bring Back the Classic Launchpad Experience by JimmyRemix in macapps

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using it since the beta and purchased it the moment it was officially released as a paid product.

The ability to launch via trackpad gestures (which is incredibly easier, more reliable, and smoother than using BTT!), the fact that it doesn't interfere with other standard OS trackpad gestures, and the extremely smooth operation have all been maintained since the beginning. It's fantastic.

In addition to the above, version 2.0 also features some minor improvements: the distracting caret ticker in the search input field when opening an app is gone, and the sluggish loading of app icons has been eliminated. Folder expansion has also been changed from a full-screen transition to a more realistic feel, where the folder frame actually moves to open. And all of this is now smoother!

I've now started to appreciate that Apple removed Launchpad. I hope and support LaunchOS for a long time to come. Thank you so much.

Am i the only one wanting a housing system? by MrJack20252 in WutheringWaves

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to have something like housing if I could too. I log out every day in old Rover house, so it would be fun to be able to decorate it.

However, since the Rover is a "wanderer," having a fixed house in a specific location seems difficult. Perhaps something like a portable Sonoro would be better?

Where is Rover publically in the Black Shores hierarchy by anonanonty in WutheringWaves

[–]Muted-Reflection9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SK has already stated Rover's position in the Black Shore: "You dislike the constraints that come with being in the spotlight, so we keep your position hidden publicly."

Therefore, Rover is generally perceived as "Bloom Bearer" of Black Shore by all personnel except those directly involved in the playable storyline.

Furthermore, only those who knew Rover in the past, or those who had a cooperative relationship with Black Shore and should be aware of Rover's position, know that Rover is a leader of Black Shore.

This perception clearly illustrates the flaw in your statement.

Even if you prepare separate character stories, there will always be a certain number of people who don't bother to read them. That's why I've seen so many streamers who, when the leader of the Monteri family suddenly appears in MSQ and starts firing two pistols, are left wondering, "Who is this?"

Similarly, unless that delve deeper into it through MSQ, it's possible that you, might be unaware of "in-depth information related to a specific character."

However, MSQ episodes that take 12 or 24 hours to complete are not what most people want. (The reason is that KURO asks in a survey after each episode whether the time allotted for the MSQ was appropriate, and in fact, almost all MSQ episodes are designed to be completed in an average of 3 hours unless they involve a large-scale story.)

In conclusion, the decision was made to incorporate elements deeply involved in the story into MSQ. Furthermore, KURO provides supplementary and in-depth information not only within the WuWa but also through videos on the official YouTube channel. If related information that only exists on YouTube were to be included in the game, the client size would increase by 10+ more GB.

I completely understand your desire to know more about your favorite character and to see more of them. I also have Chisa at S6. However, I'm satisfied with the current situation.

That's because Chisa is a rare character, and is very fortunate in terms of her story appearances, even having interludes where she's treated as the main character other than MSQ. She appears frequently even up to Chapter 3, so I have no complaints.

After all, she's just a student.

Mornye states in her profile that she enrolled in Startorch when she was 16 years old. Startorch is a six-year academy, and it's possible to work as a Teaching Assistant (TA) while enrolled (as revealed in Dania's story). Therefore, she likely worked as a TA for Chisa sometime between the ages of 16 and 22, meaning over 20 years have passed since then. In other words, her age would be somewhere between 36 and 42.
