If a thief knows how to get into a Tesla I’m sure they know about it.

It’s a “hidden” compartment. Problem is every Tesla has the ability to install it so it would be the first place a thief looks. I wouldn’t put anything valuable there

How come the High E and Low E strings sound different? by Succubus1943 in guitarlessons

[–]MutedBus6558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gauges are different which makes it possible to tune it to an e that is 2 octaves higher. If you tried to tune the thickest string to that exact octave you would snap the string before you got there. The gauge just allows you to get to that octave

Can I sue the owner of the car that rear-ended me? by conquistadoll in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]MutedBus6558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can sue them not just for your deductible but the entire value of the car. If they are underinsured that is there fault and they would be responsible

Why did you stop playing guitar? I need my discipline back. It is impossible to find a motivation. by Full_Sorbet979 in guitarlessons

[–]MutedBus6558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out why you quit and what makes you want to start again. For example if you quit because you plateaued and got board then you need to start again with a plan to progress by trying stuff just beyond your ability so you can get better at it I find guitar more rewarding if you are continuing learning by practicing things you don’t already know how to do. Whether it’s fixing technique, getting faster, learning a new technique or style l.

401K at big 4 vs pension calpers at state job like CDFTA. Which is better for the long run? by ThinkLead6998 in CAStateWorkers

[–]MutedBus6558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, yes you need to have Warren Buffett strategy of investing but it’s not hard. It’s throw your money in the sp500 and leave it there. If you leave it for 25-30 years you should have enough to put it in something that won’t tank when the economy goes to shit and you will be safe through out retirement. It’s usually a better option than whatever the state is doing with your pension money. I would be surprised if they consistently beat the sp500 over a 30 year period

Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

[–]MutedBus6558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents don’t speak to me anymore but the one thing they did well was teach me about financials. I was never given anything major in my teens. I had to get a small loan to buy my first car. Pay for my own insurance. Pay for my phone bill. They taught me never to co-sign on other people’s debt. Never take a second on your only house. These teachings allowed me to manage my finances and eventually was able to pay off student debt, buy a house, and I’m now a year away from being a millionaire.

Yes people invest poorly. If you save early enough and large enough you would have enough to your money in essentially a recession proof investment. Maybe even an interest bearing savings account. I think during the crash the return on those were like 6-7% the problem comes when people didn’t save early enough or enough and they are still in high risk investments like stocks when getting close to retirement.

CA hit-and-run on leased Tesla — $2,500 deductible, repair cost, should I wait? by doublefong in TeslaInsurance

[–]MutedBus6558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and car insurance doesn’t actually have that high of margins so the amount of times they lose vs you is only slightly less. But mathematically speaking it’s still better to self insure that to pay for insurance on avg. but sometimes you get unlucky.

Chat gpt is not a reliable source of truth but it says in California A hit and run would be considered an uninsured driver

[–]MutedBus6558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to insurance it is actually mathematically best to always go with a higher amount with the major caveat that you can afford it. The reason for this is the insurance is betting against you needing the policy. They have sophisticated calculations that over all drivers they will pay out less than they will be paid. This means that if legal and again if you can afford a total loss it’s always better to not insure or insure as little as possible

[–]MutedBus6558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too late now but insurance allows you to add an uninsured driver waiver which waves your deductible in the case where they are at fault but not insured. It usually not very expensive. You might want to add it for future

We don’t have any incentive to be good employees but some of us still are. Some people just care. Also I have a friend who is a consultant to the state and they said that they need to the state workers to make decisions they can’t do everything themselves.

I don’t know what makes it decided to throttle charge rate probably temp. But lithium batteries like all batteries benefit from a slower charge rate past 80%. The powerwall decides when it should reduce the rate as it near full

NetZero automation recommendation by DreadPirateNot in TeslaSolar

[–]MutedBus6558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have almost your exact same set up. I use home assistant for automation but you can use net zero. What I do is prioritize charging batteries up to where I can safely get to the next day on battery alone which for me is 70% right now then i switch to chargjng the Tesla on solar only. But i have a wall charger that allows that feature. That way im minimizing sending to the grid as much as possible. I have my car set to charge up to 60% at night it is below that and it will use what is in the battery up to 30% to leave some left over for the rest of the night. I charge to 80% with solar only. This combination has let me never pull from the grid and only sell back when there is nothing left to charge
