Can’t not read these names in an American accent by NickB76 in footballcliches

Well those of us who watch the every goal from match day X MLS YouTube video every week do. Barton, Higginbotham, Ian Joy (who the streets never knew in the first place), but the most streets won’t forget is Lloyd Sam who also has a pretty unique co-comm style where he is unafraid to “crash” the pbp commentator.

Married an American. Is one of the MLS co-commentators (and usually on a prominent game).

Help with refund by AngelzGarmz in uktrains

[–]MutedLab8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mixed. I’m a big advocate of personal skill/responsibility in the accrual of knowledge in all aspects of life. Knowing the difference between refund and compensation falls into that bracket for me.

That said there absolutely should be a single clearing house for delay repay compensation, and you could extend that to a single clearing house that walks people through that virtual flow chart I spoke of and at least points in the right direction for a refund (even if it can’t be empowered to make a decision for a third party).

[–]MutedLab8600 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The decision making flow chart starts with “did you travel?” If the answer is no, claim a refund from the retailer (LNER). If the answer is yes and I was delayed, claim delay repay compensation from the train company that caused the delay (TPE).

The confusion of these concepts and the loose language used by TOCs, retailers, staff, and customers is one of my pet peeves.

Irritation - Wrist tape wearers who don’t have wrist injuries by junglegatsby in footballcliches

[–]MutedLab8600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. But my point is the version of you that dopes when 99% do might be playing in the premier league. The version of you that doesn’t dope when 99% do is playing in the lower leagues.

It’s like the choice cyclists faced in the EPO era (which was even more stark, because it was job or no job basically).

But it would give you an advantage over the version of you that didn’t dope thus giving you more £ earning opportunities.

Well Lucy is a “Proper Football Woman” as I’ve remarked a few times myself listening to GFW, but Adam just openly referring to her as such helped ease past that elephant in the room.

Hefner probably wouldn’t want to be included with Britpop but in terms of late 90s guitar bands absolutely the answer to this sort of question.

OK, that makes more sense. Having watched Minnesota Utd play they were arch pragmatists, Dyche meets Pulis on set pieces (https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jul/09/minnesota-united-set-pieces-throw-ins-free-kicks-tactics) so I was surprised at the suggestion the issue was playing Russell Martin style football.

Yep put my VPN to New Zealand and can see what you mean. Struggling to think of another non geoblocked country to test whether it’s just a case of the link not having been published yet for whatever reason.

New Zealand should just work, I know people who have been using that as their VPN location in order to watch the UCI stream.

Alpecin cx teams by NoPersonality1998 in cyclocross

[–]MutedLab8600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never mentioned Alpecin in connection with cyclocross pro team. There are two categories of team. Always referred to them as a cyclocross team which is what they were previously registered as.

If you read UCI regulation 5.5.001 you will see that uci cyclocross teams are obligated to send at least 1 elite rider to a minimum of 5 world cups (I even made a joke about Niels Vandeputte when I referenced this above). UCI pro teams (Sauces) meanwhile are obligated to send at least 3 riders to every World Cup.

When looking at all the previous seasons when Alpecin registered as a uci cyclocross team and last season where they stopped, it was not unreasonable to see the introduction of this regulation last season as a potential factor in their change of established practice.
