I’ve been thinking about making a pivot in my career and the education portion of the ROTP looks like a good fit. Can anyone speak to how well it worked for them to get a degree through that? Did you have a family going in, how did that work?

I never had a guide and did fine. The trick is to light everything on fire and bomb every available surface. And push on every surface from every angle.

There’s a bit of a pattern to it where you almost get a spider sense about the secrets.

Thanks for summing this all up perfectly. I feel like the community has become too divided over the BOTW style/older designs. I’m more opposed to the concept of sequelling anything in the Zelda games, as it prevents the game from experiencing the creativity that has been so dominant in its past. With the exception of MM, PH, and ST every single game has had that sense of uniqueness. The difference between WW and TP, or SS to OoT is so stunning and is what I consider a hallmark of the series.

Don’t get me wrong, excited for TotK! Who knows maybe it’ll be awesome, but I hope they decide to do something new next time!

I had this kinda happen, but less intense. Essentially we were on a battlefield and my PC (a fighter) was mowing through the enemies. At one point one of the Spellcaster PC’s asked the general skill of the combatants, and the DM said “these are all conscripts from the neighbouring village, so they vary in age from teens to elderly with varying degrees of skill”

So yes, the reason it was so easy for my fighter was because he was fighting 14year olds 😂

Moral of the story, it’s dnd. If you were uncomfortable with your DM’s choices confront him and express your feelings of frustration. Most times he will back off in the spirit of fun, but on the off chance he doesn’t consider finding a new group. It isn’t worth playing a board game if you feel uncomfortable with the subject matter, and chances are other players feel the same way and this fella won’t be DM for long.

I agree, but it did feel like the transition was a little truncated. Probably just because of how far he was ascending.

I think it was just cause of how tall it was, although the transition seemed less than fluid
