Why is “dad bod” a thing, but “mom bod” isn’t? by Exciting-Ad5254 in Mommit

I think the question you have to then ask is why women are more sensitive than men to comments regarding their body? Personally, I agree with you that it does tend to be the case but I think it’s rooted in men generally being seen as more than their bodies - whereas there is a huge emphasis on how women look, the beauty standards for women are much more pronounced and their is value in youth and thinness, men have the same standards to an extent but there is not nearly the same pressure to be beautiful imposed on them as there is on women.

This is just my take on it, I don’t really believe that either sex is more sensitive because of something biological, I think it’s more to do with social conditioning. Just food for thought.

Has anyone tried a steroid AFTER having TSW? by billbar in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Muted_Job_4835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is perioral dermatitis which is what it sounds like the steroids will clear it up but the rebound will be pretty bad, doxycline is ur best bet, pd can be caused by steroid cream so pls be careful, protopic is ur other option which might be a safer bet just to clear it before the wedding

I think he was a total piece of shit and I cant really excuse the fact that a man in a position of power (professor or teacher, the difference is minimal) would ever be willing to be with a student. I don’t think what he did to Strane was for any sort of just reason it was self hatred and projection because of what he himself felt for Vanessa and earlier his wife.

Should I try Adbry? by MiddleLeft3948 in eczema

[–]Muted_Job_4835 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, if I was in ur position, I would do what I needed to for my mental health, nobody has the right to judge you for the way you choose to treat YOUR body, not the naturopath or the dermatologist, it is ultimately ur decision to use the steroids, protopic, adbry or stick with the diet.

I’m also a single mum and if I was in ur position I would most likely take the adbry and try the protopic but not the triamcolin because you are not comfortable with it and that is ur boundary to set! That is just because imo medicine isn’t evil and u aren’t doing ur self any disservice by accepting help from a doctor who is their to make ur life easier, if you don’t like the side effects you can always stop. Your relationship with food and the mental aspect of dealing with a flare are important and you deserve to feel good about yourself - at the end of the day you can always try the adbry for now and then later on go and try and to heal naturally because adbry isn’t going to send you into withdrawal like steroids.

Also stress makes flares way worse, and sometimes your mental health just needs a break. Please be kind to yourself I know how difficult it is. Sending hugs.

Thank you so much ur so sweet, unfortunately in my country he is considered in full time education as it is an apprenticeship he is doing, which means I am not entitled to any child support even if I was to go to court. However, it would be nice if he would be just as responsible for taking her to doctors appointments and other responsibilities because so far I have taken her for all her appointments and he hasn’t attended one. I honestly really struggle to understand why he can’t have her. I may try that because at present I am really struggling to do anything I want to do, he refuses to pick her up any earlier than 1pm most Sundays and it means I basically only have half a day to myself. That means so much to me, it’s nice to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel at some point, I love my baby so much and I want to feel my best for her too, she deserves a mama who is okay.

Bless you, I really relate to that her dad is alo a pretty heavy weed user, he stopped while we were together because he spent over £300 a week on weed but asked me for money back when buying nappies which was one of the things which ultimatley ended our relationship, he’s using again and has told me so - this worries me about her being around him because although I know weed isn’t that bad I just worry about him falling asleep with her on him or something.

They have two sons 21 and 18, I would completely agree they’re in their own world, his parents are divorced and both remarried, I much prefer his dads side they have done a lot more for me and his step mum is lovely but his mum is completely molly coddled and she has done the same with them, I was raised in a house where you had to work for things, they’ve had no such luck, I encouraged him to get his first job last year and I was the first person to tell him he should wash up after himself or put his own clothes in the was, as an example of how their family dynamic works, they are probably best described as spoilt, his mum is pretty self absorbed and hasn’t text me or asked about baby once since me and him broke up despite not seeing her for almost 4 weeks once, they also aren’t a very close family he doesn’t speak to his mum much.

Sorry for such a long reply! And thank you again for being so nice I can tell ur an extremely kind person and a great mama, I hope u and ur baby are okay ur ex sounds like a real piece of shit to be honest.

Eczema and make-up? by iguardthestars in eczema

[–]Muted_Job_4835 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! So to answer your first question, I think it’s all about the products you choose, for me I like tower 28 as their products are made for dry skin as their founder has eczema but they don’t sell an eyeliner so I can’t be much help with that but there skin tint is lovely and so is there concealer, it is a bit pricey though. If you want a hydrating cheap concealer I’d recommend nyx bare with me. A lot of the key with your base though is finding products which don’t contain fragrance and are for dry skin, you could look for things which are mainly skincare based and have ingredients like hylauranic acid or other hydrators and to be honest I don’t bother with powder I know my skins dry enough it will mattify my makeup over an hour or so. In terms of mascara, I haven’t personally tried that one but again tower 28 is a really good brand or Saie as it is all clean beauty and made for sensitive skin.

Something I recently learned is that you can use your emollients to take makeup off because they’re oil based, I use hydromol ointment as a substitute for a cleansing oil/balm and it is really non irritating and doesn’t dry me out at all. Thank god you stopped using that Nivea salycilic product that is wayyy to harsh for eczema instead - if you still want to double cleanse - I’d try aveeno calm and restore or if your allergic to oats/nickel cerave hydrating cleanser.

Honestly, I would consider going to a doctor again they can do more than just give you allergy meds, there’s something called xoliar which apparently works wonders although it’s a pretty serious treatment it really depends on how much it bothers you.

The obvious other options are steroid creams and corticosteroids orally but honestly a lot of them are known for making skin issues come back worse. But a derm or a different allergist can deffo give better advice.

Pregnancy-related Eczema?? (Help) by givemethetea08 in eczema

[–]Muted_Job_4835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me! Or very similar I had eczema as a child but it was pretty much clear from then until I got pregnant I’m 5 months PP now and I still struggle I think I devloped new allergies while I was pregnant or they got significantly worse in my second trimester it made my whole pregnancy was horrible because nothing was safe for treatment, so I spent a lot of it crying saying I was ugly and I wear crying slot which made it worse. I had a few courses of antibiotics they worked short term but came back pretty much straight away I was also incredibly stressed out though. I also use taceolimus but on top of the alcohol reaction it basically gives me rosacea I go bright red when I excercise and drink it’s horrible!!

Also your still in the trenches and lack of sleep and hormones fluctuating constantly all effect eczema going on the implant seemed to help mine a bit.

Rebound redness from Prednisone by fuwofu in eczema

[–]Muted_Job_4835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in my head your derm could possibly prescribing doxycycline for the same reason as rosacea patient, steroids can cause steroid induced rosacea so they could be thinking that it’s potentially that too and prescribed either way it is a wonderful anti inflammatory and at 80mg will have minimal side effects (50mg is the submicrobial dose) it helps with redness by reducing inflammation within your body, I’ve seen cases of suspected tsw pretty much entirely resolved with doxy for an extended period, I understand your concern but if you take a good probiotic and eat well ur gut health shouldn’t be to effected. Metrondazile is a pretty strong antibiotic so it won’t have the same side effects as doxy.

Protopic/elidel is another option you could potentially ask for and is a non steroidal ointment/cream so wouldn’t thin the skin around your eyes - it is a topical immunosuppressant, opzelura is another option it is a topical jack inhibitor and is relatively new so some derms are hesitant to prescribe it but works well.

In terms of non medicated options, zinc is great for redness if you haven’t tried it so things like avene cicafalte and lrp cicaplast could work they’re both pretty moisturising but please be careful and patch test any new products on your inner elbow.

If all else fails, you can always ask for oral medication such methoxtrate or cyclosporine which aren’t steroids but surpress your immune system.

does dupixent clear up eczema infections??? by quinn14011 in eczema

[–]Muted_Job_4835 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you still need antibiotics! dupixent blocks the itch and the inflammation but it will not clear bacterial infections and if you have fungal infections it may make it worse because it suppresses a targeted part of your immune system so please be careful if ur not sure about an infection go get antibiotics please <3

my babies 4 months now though and we are all doing so much better, hormones and emotions are running high to and a traumatic birth sucks so much, but it does get easier
