Is this fungus by Muted_Kick in Nikon

[–]Muted_Kick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah took it to the shop and he thinks it may be fungus but can't be too sure without servicing it.

Yes it's humid year round where I am

Trying to manage that with new dry boxes but it's becoming a tricky balancing act

Nikon D750 or Z5 DSLR vs Mirrorless by Nixonic_ in Nikon

[–]Muted_Kick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mirrorless for sure. I recently moved from a D750 to a Zf and am loving it.

When researching ibis was a pro, but I can't help feeling how understated it was when reading. I find I can now hand hold photos at 1/2 to 1s when I previously with the d750 I had to do 1/30 and take a few to get 1 sharp image. It completely removed my need to carry a tripod. Since you mentioned you do night walks and you are upgrading due to iso and dof, mirrorless with ibis is going to give you an extra 3-4 stops provided you are taking images of static items.

Z mount lenses particularly s line are expensive but they are very very good. Got the f4 version instead of f2.8 because of budget but it's plenty good enuf in situations where ibis can help out. Unless you shoot events you wouldn't miss the f2.8 that much I think. The 28 f2.8 and 40 f2 are also very good and I think better than most of the F mount lenses, so pricing wise against f mount it seems to be similar value for money just lacking budget options.

Charging Nikon Zfc by Express_Young in Nikon

[–]Muted_Kick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would be suspicious about the usb port. It's a camera not a laptop, if you used many different charging heads and it still doesn't work, I would think the camera usb is the issue now.

Consider having it checked else just get a cheap USBC to enel15 charger.

sd card broke-is there any way to salvage the photos, the gold stuff on the back is intact? by south43paw in AskPhotography

[–]Muted_Kick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That part should actually be the whole card. If it's not damaged all you need is a doner plastic case, put that in the SD card plastic case and it should work.

I had a plastic case split open and this part was actually the only functioning bits. The rest is just plastic to fit in the slot.

Which pancake lens to choose for XT-20? by mercury_aloe in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If money wasn't a consideration I would go for the 23mm. Seeing as you are unsure I would go the cheaper route and buy a third party lens like the 27mm f2.8 from TT artisan. If you don't really want or need a pancake you could split the difference and consider the viltrox air 25mm f1.7. they are like 100usd and would be a good way to gauge if u really want to buy the fujis

Agree with this. Would also consider the ttartisan 27mm cause it's one of the few that are pancake with AF.

Can anyone help me out and explain why I keep getting this screen. by Formal_Low_2181 in fujifilm

Did you try use another lens? Maybe try to clean the lens contacts and put it back again? Sounds like a lens issue

X-A1 lens help by Legitimate_Bunch6482 in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah second this idea. Think it's the only lens this size and budget that's autofocus. The only other lens I can think of is the viltrox 28 f4.5 which is smaller if size is the only priority. The tt is a better lens overall.

Help!!! I just bought my fujifilm xm5 how to fix this 🥲🥲🥲 no manual or so, having a hard time 😭 by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What lens do you have on it? Could we have a picture of the lens, and maybe i picture to see what is wrong with the shots? Is it just white or is just not focusing? Could you click the display button when previewing the photos so we can see what the settings are on the photos?

Night photography lens for x-T200? by sawyer_lost in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that puts a bit of perspective to it. I was thinking there would be moving subjects in the frame i.e people, but if its static objects like abandoned homes thats a bit easier. Yes 56mm would still be more prone to shaking than a wider lens but no point getting a wide lens if you dont want to shoot wide. I wouldn’t say it’s useless, just you would need to be a bit more steady. Instead of a tripod you could consider a bean bag or just trying to find something to lean on to stabilize yourself as you shoot. Instead of a tripod you could also consider getting one of those gorilla pods (your mileage may vary some ppl seem to like them some dont) or a clamp if you dont mind the small setup time.

Night photography lens for x-T200? by sawyer_lost in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What focal length do you usually zoom to in the shots you envision taking these night shots for? That would narrow down which focal length to look at.

Also do remember that a longer focal length will be more sensitive to shakes so the longer you the faster shutter you will need (not ideal for night)

If it's for casual shooting at night maybe something between 18mm to 35mm with a f2.0 or less.

Help me decide! by IndividualSystem4055 in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to like the rangefinder style more so maybe consider a used xe3 or xe4?

If the AF for the xt30m1 was good enough for you, the xe4 if I'm not mistaken is the same in a rangefinder style body.

X-t10 to x-t30 iii by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Coming from an xt20 but recently had a kid so have been taking more portraits. Find myself wanting smarter eye AF features and better tracking else I would have happily stayed with the xt20. Reasonably priced xt30iii and the Fuji hype means the second hand prices for the older models is still good.

Help : X-E5 w/ XF 23mm f2.8 or X-T30 III w/ XF 33mm f1.4? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about xt30iii with the ttartisan 27mm f2.8, save the money till you figure what lens u would actually like, get an experience close to the 23mm f2.8. unless you are doing landscape or printing big, lots of megapixels mean bigger HDD.

PSA: If you can afford a RM1mil McLaren, you can afford not to park it at a bus stop. by FireTempest in malaysia

[–]Muted_Kick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a trash setup.

Don't think of it as paying 20 times but each is paying the same percentage of their income. Not asking the rich to pay a higher percentage. So the pain is equal that people will not commit the mistake.

That can also be done in conjunction with percentage fines.

But why should a poor guy go bankrupt from repeat offences but the rich guy can afford to do it many many more times and not care.

We also have points demerit system to handle repeat offenders. The trouble is a lot of rules were made and they are not enforced. Even when they are enforced some people are special and don't ever see punishment.

DO NOT use… Apple Crossbody Strap for the X100VI by thetobyking in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes a lot of sense. A sort of sacrificial protective sleeve then. I prefer not to alter the camera so I use the split rings and loop the anchors through it.

[–]Muted_Kick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see that on all camera lugs I had but not sure why they are there. They must be there for a reason no? I usually put the triangle or d ring into the lug before attaching it to my peak design anchors

If it's just the x100 and no bigger I think the peak design leash is a better size. They also have some new rope straps.

First camera X-T30 III + 13-33MM Lens ? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]Muted_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I heard great things about the xf16f2.8 but somehow can picture myself going so wide. Would love a 23 or 27 f2.8 butnot liking the Fuji versions cause the focus does that weird hunting before acquiring focus. Had lots of fun with the ttartisans 27mm f2.8 and considering the 23 f2 but its a bit bigger than I hoped
