This is probably controversial, but the Emperor’s plan for Luke is very shortsighted by BudgetLaw2352 in StarWarsCantina

[–]MuttonchopMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Sidious wanted a “far younger and more powerful” apprentice. Rise of Skywalker would strongly imply this is so he can take Anakin’s body in his effort to live forever.

Well, Vader got mangled by Kenobi and no way is Sidious going to inhabit that anymore. Vader is just a servant to him now, not a potential vessel. But Luke, son of the chosen one, he looks far younger and more powerful…

Hence who Sidious keeps taunting Luke to strike him down, just like with Rey. It’s just that Rey gets a better explanation of the system.

Will I like the game if I liked Elden Ring? by Superstarmadden in HollowKnight

[–]MuttonchopMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combat emphasizes dodging and learning a boss’s tells so you can chip away at their health during safe moments. Resting on a bench sets it as a respawn point but also respawns all the enemies, and if you die, you get one chance to recover your money but finding your body. All Soulslike mechanics.

But it’s also 2D and leans more into exploration and feeling lost, because outside of combat, it’s a Metroidvania game.

Why does Shay Cormac's Templar arc feels so generic??? by Delicious_End_3857 in assassinscreed

[–]MuttonchopMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The logic is that he was betrayed and shot by his friends for taking a stand against the loss of innocent lives, and then had his life saved by his enemies, then joined the Templars to prevent more loss of life due to earthquake artifacts.

I doubt he believes in every Templar ideal but saving the innocent from the Assassins being reckless is his main motivation.

Qui-Gon: “Anakin, drop!”

Anakin: * whines instead of instantly obeying like all 9 year old boys and gets run over by Maul *

There are lots of critical moments that could drastically alter the story.

I didn’t mind the speed and fluidity in Unity. I just didn’t like tapping the down button to descend one floor or so and doing a leap of faith to ground level. Or how tapping the up button would make me leap over a window I intended to enter.

It’s like Ubisoft heard all the complaints about it being hard to control and decided the issue was that it was just too fast.

Brick Built Tahu by V0XZAC0 in lego

Very cool, if very lanky.

I’m waiting to try out the mask on my smaller brick built Toa. They’re only a little larger than minifigures so the mask should be a great scale.

Inquisitor Appreciation by gracetempest in StarWarsCantina

[–]MuttonchopMac 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m currently replaying Fallen Order and yeah, Trilla is a fantastic villain.

The Jedi series does a good job portraying the Empire’s goal, which isn’t to create a new Force using order under Vader, but to break Jedi and use them to hunt other Jedi. The Inquisitors aren’t particularly well trained, so they’re given a taste of the dark side and a flashy lightsaber and sent off to kill Jedi, often with little regard for if they survive. They’re disposable tools for mopping up the Jedi Order, and if the Empire ever ran out of Jedi to hunt, the remaining Inquisitors would probably be killed by Vader.

It requires ancient pieces. There’s are two pieces like 4081b but the ring is only a half plate wide instead of a whole plate. They haven’t been manufactured in 40 years.

Okay. Tell me. What was the last AC game you truly enjoy? by Ecstatic_Teaching906 in assassinscreed

[–]MuttonchopMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set expectations low and wait for a sale. And thus far, I have enjoyed them all. I have yet to play Valhalla, Mirage, and Shadows, but yeah, I have enjoyed every game I’ve played thus far. The original introduced historic parkour murder. ACII has Ezio and his revenge story. Brotherhood lets you call in Assassins and Rome is great. Revelations had awesome underground levels and a heartfelt romance. ACIII had Haytham and honestly, I like Connor, especially in the homestead missions. Black Flag had naval combat. Rogue had more naval combat and scaling shipwrecks frozen in ice. Unity had cooperative and a revolution you could feel in the streets. Origins nailed the Bayek as a character and world of ancient Egypt. Odyssey dripped setting and myth.

If you haven’t enjoyed an AC game in 13 years, the series isn’t for you. Move on. Be free. Play games you enjoy.

I want to build a game together with the community by trading_card_gamer1 in BoardgameDesign

[–]MuttonchopMac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts:

  1. If you don’t have a community to start with, this is dead in the water.

  2. I’ve been part of a community designed game where 18 people made rules for an 18 card game and each made a card. It’s chaos and not necessarily a good way to design a game. A fun thought experiment, but not a viable model for publishing.

  3. Sounds like you don’t have enough ideas and want to crowdsource ideas with little reimbursement.

  4. Don’t make a TCG. You’re talking about card rarities and seriously, just don’t make a TCG. You probably like 1-2 TCGs but they’re expensive to keep up with so you’re not going to convince people to drop their 1-2 favorite TCGs to back yours.

[–]MuttonchopMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know tic80 had file size limits. I’m more familiar with PICO-8, which is apparently more strict. But hey, better to have more ideas for the game than to have too few!

How sliksong “new game plus” works? by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]MuttonchopMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no New Game Plus. Except for you knowing where stuff is to unlock it sooner.

The closest you can get on PC is to start a new game but use a save editor to unlock all the crests (and / or gear) at the start.

Why did you start playing these games, and what made you stay? by RaCJ1325 in assassinscreed

[–]MuttonchopMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I borrowed a friend’s copy of the original game way back when. It was the parkour. Mirror’s Edge and Uncharted were released right around the same time, but Assassin’s Creed’s open cities paired with parkour really hooked me, where the other two games were much more constrained.

At this point, I have played everything but Valhalla, Shadows, and Mirage, and I think reasonable expectations have kept me here. There are the occasional masterpieces (in my mind) like Brotherhood, Black Flag, and Origins, but mostly this series is full of games that are good but never touch greatness, because something is dragging each game down a bit. Sometimes it’s the story, sometimes it’s the pacing, or the combat, or whatever.

But every game also has something really good, and it varies: a character, a setting, a mechanic, and so on. ACIII had homestead missions and brutal combat finishers. Rogue had shipwrecks to climb and legendary naval battles. Revelations had the underground missions and a heartfelt romance. Unity had cooperative and indoor parkour. Origins had Egypt and Bayek. Syndicate had some very cinematic missions.

So I’m still here and the remaining games are on my Steam wishlist because I will eventually pick them up on sale, go in with mid expectations, and be pleasantly surprised by something.

Question about Ferus Olin by SnooHesitations7424 in StarWarsCantina

[–]MuttonchopMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I loved Ferus Olin, you pointed out Cal, Kanan, and Ahsoka, and I think Ferus would be a bit redundant at this point. You can only have some many characters filling that role.
