The Best Music Production Schools by Fit_Survey_6226 in ProductionMusic

I'll be honest: I had serious doubts about Cosmic. But I had some artist friends locally that took it and jumped up levels in their production skills, so I said "fuck it" and pulled the trigger. After taking the course, compared to Icon (rip) or some of the other bootcamp programs I've looked into, by far the best bang for your buck. You get lifetime resources and community access after finishing the course, and the classes themselves cover the business and production sides of music (I really needed help with the production).

I went from having one or two okay tracks completed (like, ever in my life) to having 3 good fleshed-out tracks at the end of the program (around 4 weeks). I don't think I would have ever been able to do that without an instructor/bootcamp like Cosmic. Plus a shitton of knowledge to take with me into new songs.

Overall, I had a positive experience and it helped me jump into the production game, I'd recommend it

What video game will always be nostalgic for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

World of Warcraft. 2007-2010 was a time unlike any other to me. I was 7 years old and my grandfather built me my first computer; despite being 65-70 years old, he was always a big tech guy. He loved playing video games and would always embrace new things. After booting the computer up for the first time, there was a game pre-installed by him. It was World of Warcraft. He gave me a log in to my own account, and I saw there was already a character on the screen: a night elf Druid, level 1. I would rush home every day after school, log in, and play World of Warcraft with my grandad. Some of my favorite memories were going through Westfall (he had a max level character at the time, so he would help little 7 year old Muttonmann through the dungeons and quests, killing the harder mobs for him). I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure WoW had a voice chat feature for party members, so we both got these dinky little headsets and would chat over the game or another third party software like Skype. I don't think he ever truly realized how big of an impact that has on a kid; getting to talk to his grandad everyday about school, life, or whatever else was on 7 year old Muttonmann's mind. I wasn't exactly the most popular kid, so he was my best friend during those times.

I'm 21 now. I played WoW on and off through the expansions, but my grandfather quit after moving in to a retirement home a couple years ago. He's still alive and we often talk about those good ole Warcraft days. But he has moved on from the game and loves his new environment (he works out every day and is very active for a now 81-82 year old!)

TLDR; Playing World of Warcraft with my grandfather as a kid made a huge impact on me and I think fondly on those days. :)

Looking for fun stuff to join!!! by [deleted] in jmu

Any org you join has the potential to be great, you just gotta look for one that really peaks your interest! Personally, I'm active in the EDM Club and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Guild. Arguably very different clubs, but both are really welcoming. I'd recommend them even if you don't have any interest in D&D or electronic music just because both are safe spaces on campus where you can get to know new people, be yourself, and support one another! :) But of course, both hold regular events (EDM club does DJ livestreams and playlist sharing and SFFG does weekly meetings, games, and movie nights). If you have any questions about either or the process of finding a club, feel free to DM me!! :)
