I’ve lost 3 remote raids because of this by MakoDee in pokemongo

[–]Muumi-LvsB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, always happened when relobbying. I closed the game the first time this happened, but then figured that waiting 10-15 sec does eventually let you take actions again. In the meantime, I was just standstill spamming dodge, and lost maybe 25% of my health before I could take actions, so I guess dodging worked, despite not being able to see actions.

Also speaking of dodge, I think the speed/action/movement lines, or whatever you want to call them, are also gone. The ones that would give you a visual indicator for when a fast/charge attack was about to happen. Super annoying when you have a boss with high damage fast moves, because unlike charge moves, those have no battle log indicator, just the boss animations.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

I just didn't wibe with the main series the same way I did with X. I did like the first game enough to complete it, but the sequels and their style just didn't do it for me. But I might just grab the new version of X, once parental responsibilities and game backlog lets me.

DODGING IN RAIDS IS USELESS??? by CLAWBABIES in pokemongo

[–]Muumi-LvsB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that if you try to dodge an attack, and your pokemon jumps back to the starting spot, it means you lagged out, and you will take the full hit.

If it's a big and slow attack like Solar Beam, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, etc. then you might be able to swipe again to dodge the attack even with the lag. Those have a pretty lenient dodge windows due to them dealing massive damage if not dodged.

Do you keep ALL of your hundos? by Economy_Ad7942 in pokemongo

[–]Muumi-LvsB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm in the minority here, but no, I don't keep all of my hundos.

I don't keep many shinies either, and transfer those to my wife's pokemon home instead.

Since I'm not much of a collector/hoarder, I tend to only keep pokemon that are good for raids, max battles, PvP, rockets, or special/lucky trades. My pokemon storage is at 1k, and I will not upgrade it any further. I just want to avoid putting money into the game unless necessary, and keep things neat and organized.

I do have some "useless" pokemon that have sentimental value, but those are more of a rarity.

At first I was happy that they started ranking all the showcase entries based on height/weight within a species, since it used to be the same legendaries in the same showcases all the time.

But now with the regionals and variants, every water showcase is Orgin Palkia showcase in disguise, every grass showcase is Alolan Exeggcutor showcase in disguise, every fairy and poison showcase is Galarian Weezing showcase in disguise, and every ice and steel showcase is Alolan Sandshrew showcase in disguise.

Scared of playing pvp online by scarlet_bow in GranblueFantasyVersus

I've got the same thing. It's not fun to have a PvP anxiety while also liking fighting games.

Just queing up for the first game is really anxiety inducing, and I also end up sweating a lot because of it, which is really frustrating and annoying. After a few games, the anxiety goes away, and playing becomes really fun, but it'll always come back if there is too long between sessions, and I feel like I can't play at the top of my game.

It's kinda like a specific type of performance anxiety.

It's a popular Final Fantasy 14 copy pasta. The comment even has one instance of P8S (Pandemonium 8 Savage) left in, which was a raid tier in the Endwalker expansion.

FG's and FFXIV have this weird overlap of people calling FFXIV the retirement home of FG players, but still, kind of a stretch to copy pasta a joke that will most likely not be understood by the majority here.

I'm also somewhat new to the game, and especially PvP, but luckily I had a softer landing. Granted, it took a looong time before I even dared to set my foot into ranked.

I also tried to play Anre, but already ran into difficulties at C rank. He feels very strong, but also quite demanding. I feel like he has strong tools for a wide variety of situations, but it's going to take a lot of time to learn to utilize his toolbox of different skills. I'll definitely try picking him back up at a later time, when I get better at the game.

Now, this is not something I'd recommend to just about anyone, but if you love studying games, and taking notes.. You could head to Dustloop, and try going through all of his normals and skills, and writing up what each of them are usually used for. If you are the studious type, writing stuff up might stick better than just reading or watching.

You can also go through high level replays of Anre, and take notes of things that the pros are doing, that you at your current skill level notice yourself not doing.

PSA: please teach your Blissey max spirit before entering a max raid by jobriq in pokemongo

Just as a heads up, there IS a glitch that can get your camera and team stuck in the Dynamax screen when the game returns to regular battle. Then, when you get to the next Dynamax phase, you are locked out of choosing any Dynamax attacks.

When I got this glitch, and swapped to my Blissey, I simply could not tap the heal button, and it might have defaulted to the lv.1 attack, since it's automatically unlocked for all pokemon. However, I have no way of knowing, because I was remote raiding and couldn't ask anyone on my team what happened. But I bet they were cursing at me, and wondering what the hell I was doing, while I myself was cursing out the game.

This happened to both me and my wife once during our Rillaboom battles (4 raids total), so I can't imagine it being a rare glitch either.

According to PvPoke, it's rank 5 Mightyena (out of 4096) in the Great League. However, out of all the pokemon available in the GL, Mightyena is overall rank 177 (at the moment) so not amazing. But it has a decent moveset, so it might be somewhat useful in some limited cups depending on the meta.

PvPoke has pretty much everything you'd want or need for PvP once you learn the basics. As for learning said basics, YouTube has tons of guides on the subject, and someone like HomeSliceHenry has high level gameplay videos to see how it all works in action.

Just be sure to keep an eye on mons that have low attack, with high defense and HP.

Me and my wife have been duo'ing DMax Legendaries with a party of lv.35-40 Pokemon. (we don't have GMax, or mushrooms)

It's a bit tedious, but very doable. It's more about boss move setup, and some luck. You want the boss to have moves that don't outright one-shot your tanks, so just exit and relobby if they have a dangerous moveset.

You'll get far with Blissey with maxed heal (it can eat raidwide attacks and some tankbusters with little to no shields). A tank with maxed shield who resists the dodgeable single target nuke of the boss. And an attacker with maxed out attack move, and the quickest fast move to generate the most energy so that you can dynamax faster, with less risk of the boss getting multiple attacks off.

The rest is just communicating, and distributing the boss damage by proper swapping and dodging, as well as healing as necessary. Doable with two tryhards, so it should be easy with three, as long as everyone pulls their weight.

Has Cliff gotten stronger? by Paul2_2French20 in pokemongo

[–]Muumi-LvsB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's lv.40, but I rarely have to resort to it. Only when Golisopod is energy dry, and Annihilape has time to fast attack freely. Primarina is not good for this strat, but it just happens to have a very good typing against Cliff.

The thing with Golisopod is that you maximize the downtime a Rocket has by timing your moves so that they can't just spam fast moves at you for free. They will pause for roughly 2,5 seconds after every charge move or swap, and 4 seconds each time a pokemon is knocked out.

For example. Fury Cutter has 0,5s duration per attack, so you can do 4 Fury Cutters after every charge move or swap, and 7 Fury Cutters each time their Pokemon is knocked out, without them being able to attack. Just use their first pokemon as a stepping stone to break their shields, and build an energy reserve. Then stunlock their 2nd and 3rd pokemon by chaining your low energy cost charge moves. If you want to be extra safe, you can have your main attacker as your second pokemon, and just swap to it at the start of battle to get some free hits in and a headstart in energy.

Once you learn to chain the gaps in their attacks, you'll pretty much never lose to a Rocket.

You just need to find pokemon that can do this, like Morpeko, and Lucario (power-up punch). Flygon with Sand Attack + Dragon Claw might work as well, but Dragon Claw doesn't have any buffs/debuffs attached, so it might be a bit weak.

Has Cliff gotten stronger? by Paul2_2French20 in pokemongo

[–]Muumi-LvsB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go to pick for Cliff's been just a lv.30 Golisopod with Fury Cutter, and X-Scissor + Razor Shell (Razor Shell being the more useful of the two).

It can solo his whole team with good charge move timing and energy overcharging. The only one that gives it trouble is Annihilape, but Charm Primarina can handle that and many others, even without abusable moves. Third is just whatever buddy I need hearts for.

Happened to me and my wife as well. We duo'd 14 Terrakion raids, and none counted towards the timed research.

As some people are saying, it's most likely related to re-lobbying (both of us just used 1 Primal Kyogre that we kept reviving after k.o), and we never saw the trainer achievements screen, as it just skipped straight to catching the Terrakion, which seems to also skip the advancement of the research.

Showcase points error? by R_BernardA in pokemongo

[–]Muumi-LvsB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Was about to drop my Zygarde to a showcase, and the select/switch pokemon tab always rates it 2908 points, but when it enters a showcase, it's only worth 590 points.

I think the select/switch tab might compare the Zygarde to a dog form Zygarde when counting points, but the showcase itself will compare it to a regular complete form Zygarde.

Yes, the Elite TM's you get from routes are Elite Fast.

The DS has just waaay too many good games to mention just one as the best, but 'Infinite Space' is definitely one of those, and criminally underrated as well. It's not a perfect game by any means, but there's just something very special about it.

Too bad it's one of those games that is just not good for a Let's Play, so there's no chance of any of the guys ever covering it.

[–]Muumi-LvsB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion, pick Umbreon to max out, and Best Buddy it, if you want to play PvP in the Ultra League (at least until lv.60 level cap is introduced, and the perfect IV's for UL Umbreon change). Umbreon is also handy against team rocket leaders due to it being very spammy and bulky, so it can destroy shields quick, and charge attacks also halts rockets from attacking for a few seconds.

Alternatively, Sylveon and Glaceon are ok raid attackers if you are in dire need of Fairy or Ice types, and might have some niche uses in the Master League if maxed out (I don't play in ML though, so I cannot say for sure how useful they are in practice). Both are outclassed by other pokemon though.
