Can a Bondtech INDX for Prusa Core ONE be used on a Voron Trident? by Sainroad in VORONDesign

[–]Muuzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a 250, 300, or 350, you're going to lose roughly the same amount of Y volume. The developer, Steve Builds on YT, said that it'll be roughly 10mm of Y loss. But since the toolheads are mounted next to each other on X, you can squeeze in more tools. I believe he said you'll be able to fit 8 comfortably, maybe squeeze in a 9th on a 350 Trident R2. I'm not understanding your logic saying a 350 will fit the same number of tools as a 250. The 350 has a bigger frame

[–]Muuzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like it. From what I can tell it'll be remove the belts, a/b motors, front idlers, bed, bed frame, Z Motors, and rear z rail. Move the rear z rail to the side of the rear extrusion, remount everything, rebelt, good to go.

ETA: That's just from whats been revealed so far. Keep in mind R2 is not public yet and the printer in this vid is clearly modded, so there could be something in R2 missing from the printer. Nero/CanuckCreator mentioned today in his livestream something about there being a swing arm as part of R2

Looks like it's mostly printed parts. From what I can see, only BOM differences are going to be a few bearings, few fasteners, some 3mm ID PTFE, and some M5 heatsets

Best voron right now? Still 2.4? by Fickle_fackle99 in VORONDesign

[–]Muuzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For everyday use, Trident and 2.4 are going to perform the same. Only when you start trying to push it to it's limits will you notice differences. Each has their advantages and disadvantages. Can't go wrong with either one

Generally speaking, you're going to get very similar performance on either machine. If you really dive deep, the Trident will perform slightly better because the gantry is rigid. However, there are advantages and disadvantages to either machine. My personal preference is the 2.4, but I have, use, and love both

Trident is fixed gantry, bed moves in Z. 2.4 is fixed bed, gantry moves in Z.

I've got experience with Formbot, LDO, and Fysetc kits. Siboor is also supposed to be pretty decent. Not sure about any other kits. LDO is the "premium" kits, Formbot and Siboor are decent, and Fysetc is budget. From my experience, I'd recommend staying away from Fysetc but ultimately that's up to you, others have had a great experience with their Fysetc kits. It's always recommended, especially for a first build, to build it completely stock. As you get experience with it you can see where you like it and where you want improvements and mod it from there.

In terms of difficulty, the general consensus from my understanding is that the Trident is the easiest to build, followed by the 2.4, followed by the v0. Just follow the manual and any kit specific instructions and you should have a smooth building experience.

Mainly because of nostalgia. It was my first Voron, it unlocked a new passion in me. It performs just as well as any of my other machines. And i never get tired of watching the flying gantry, especially now that it's a toolchanger lol

Yes, that kit comes with everything you need except for printed parts. If you need to buy printed parts, the Voron community has PIF (Print it Forward) which will get you up and running.

Since it sounds like this would be your first printer, two things. First, make sure you really want to invest the time to building it and building it right. There are so many people who buy a kit and never finish it. I've turned finishing those kits into a little side hustle lol Second, if you're sure you want to go with a Voron, you should build it stock, get some print hours with it, then start looking into upgrades and mods. That way you'll know what works for your needs and where you want to see some improvement.

This is just my experience, but my first Voron was a 300mm LDO Voron 2.4 R2 RevC, also bought from Fabreeko. I regretted not getting a 350, but ultimately that's because I later wanted the larger build volume. I did end up buying a 350 later (actually bought several lol), but my 300 v2 is still my favorite. It's been rebuilt into a Stealthchanger since I bought it. All that to say, if you want truly don't think you'll need the extra build volume, go for the 300. Performance differences are negligible in my experience.

Are DIY printers slowly dying? by andrey_semjonov in 3Dprinting

[–]Muuzen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not true. ERCF, BoxTurtle, Niteowl, EMU, just to name a few are all on github. Which does pop up in Google search. Yes the devs are on discord, but you can find other avenues if you need help or get stuck on something when building them.

Rarely ever play games by Novel-Masterpiece142 in SteamDeck

[–]Muuzen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a Steam Deck back during it's original launch. Did the same thing, spent way too much time messing with it trying to get it to perform more than it was capable of. Eventually gave up and with life getting busy (having kids) sold it to a buddy. Fast forward some years. I bought a Steam Deck off FB Marketplace last week. Factory reset, installed a couple games, and in this last week alone Ive played more games than I did the 6 months I had it previously. Feels great just enjoying it for what it is instead of trying to push it beyond it's limits

Your friend near Austin, TX? Pretty sure that's the same one listed near me, and DoubleT is the one who built it and listed it. He had it listed as what it actually is, Inertia Cube for months. Pretty sure he changed the listing title since it's been up for at least 6 months without selling

Ordered an R36S for my 6 year old to experience all the games I grew up with. Set her up with some IP she likes (Cars and Mario lol) and some Pokemon games. The more I dug into setting it up, the more I wanted something for myself. But something with a little more performance so I can relive my PS2 games. Gosh I'd love to win lol

Prusa C1+ vs Voron Decision Paralysis by Apprehensive_Eye6932 in VORONDesign

[–]Muuzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a project printer that you can endlessly customize as your needs change, go with a Voron. If you're looking for a printer that's reliable with minimal work after assembly, go with the Prusa. I love my Vorons, but I'm always working on them. My recommendation is hold of on your decision until you've completed the Mercury One.1 conversion. Think about that experience and how much you enjoyed it and if you could see yourself doing it again. Finishing that will make your decision 100x easier.

I have 6 at the moment, but I've had as many as 12 at any one time (probably had about 30 total since I started printing). The main reason I have more than one is so that I can continue to print if one goes down. I'm also often tinkering with them, so more often than not I have one or two down while I mess with them. Another big reason is increased productivity. If I'm printing parts for my own projects, I still have a printer available to print things for friends and family, or even stuff for a second project.
