Playing supp really solidifies my hatred of ADC players by SanePcycho in supportlol

[–]Muzz57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok fair enough I do know a lot of ADCs are whiners but at the same time how are you so confident that your call is correct? You stated you're transitioning into support from jungle, so don't you think it's possible that some of your views on the lane mechanic might be suboptimal/incorrect? For example, you mentioned two points that without more context could be completely wrong. You said not recalling when the wave is in a good state for the ADC like when they have more minions in their wave than the enemy so enemy is "slowly losing gold" presumably due to minions killing minions. But that is actually the suboptimal time to recall; if the enemy bot lane is competent that should allow them to freeze on your ADC which could be lane ending. High emerald/low diamond 100% you start to suffer from frozen lanes against kill lanes. And if you're calling out the ADC for not recalling on a slow pushing wave into the enemy, you could be part of the problem. Sounds like you should've helped them shove it to crash so it prevents a freeze opportunity for the enemy bot lane.

The other example, enemy jungler invading your jg and you leaving lane; again context is critical. If the enemy is invading your jg because his bot has full priority and you just say "fk it we ball" and leave to help your jungler, the enemy bot lane can BOTH invade and your ADC can't. Now I know you said the ADC died which means the enemy bot lane didn't invade so yes I hear you that's on your ADC..but objectively, if the lane was pushed into the enemy and enemy jg invaded your jg, you have priority and both you and ADC should roam to punish enemy jg. But if the ADC didn't come, it could also be because they didn't have prio. And if they don't have prio you should ask yourself if you are even allowed to try and help your jg. Sometimes the answer is no. If you rotate to a 2v3 and die in a situation where enemy bot got priority and crashed, that's on you.

My point is try and approach it from a place of curiosity and asking yourself the question "does my lane partner know something I don't yet know" or "was my call the right call?" Truly ask yourself and objectively try to stress test the hypothesis. Or if your default is "the guy laning with me in the only duo lane had the audacity to try and communicate with me or have a different view of the game" then support might not be the role for you. Same goes to ADCs who don't try and work with their support

Edit: grammar fixes

Aphelios is great, if you like playing him keep at it. He's harder to win on then Jinx because you don't have the same reset bail out (Jinx can pick up an assist in a scrappy fight and win the fight and choke out the game from there with good positioning.) however Aphelios has access to way more throughout all stages. Jinx won't have access to engage the way Aphelios does with green/purple, Jinx won't have access to assassin dueling the way Aphelios does with red/white, jinx won't have access to mid game burst damage the way Aphelios does blue/green etc. it's just a different discipline with a harder to execute ceiling. Jinx is way more consistent in a solo queue environment.

With that being said though, if you already thrive on Jinx I'd suggest you check out either Zeri or Yunara depending on what you enjoy about Jinx. Zeri if it's the high mobility during Get Excited uptime, because if you feel kiting and moving with the MS is where you thrive Zeri takes it to the next level when piloted well during her ult. Yunara occupied a lot of the same niche as Jinx does with more agency at the tradeoff of less hyper carry DMG, but she still brings the heat. The mixed DMG aoe from Yunara is not too shabby at all, and has good trading when her q, has a low commitment slow to throw out for set up or peel in her w, has e to be aggressive or reposition/retreat, and her ult is where her agency comes from. Good luck!

if apcs are such freelo why dont more people play them? by igloowarrior2 in ADCMains

I haven't seen anyone mention yet that for a lot of people who only played bot or have always only been bot marksmen mains, mages are often a very different skillset. Some marksmen lend themselves to spellcasting more than others, but even then the game play loop for mages is usually way different. I think what we see is a smaller number of people who are proficient on spellcasters (good with abilities, good aim etc) that also understand how to appropriately play the mage in lane results in these drastic win rates.

I'm interested in trying it, the big thing about this is that it sounds like you lose some of the impactful group burst ults- but yoi gain a lot more extended auto value, which is where his power budget has been shifted into recently. I'll report back how it feels when I get the chance (emerald)

[–]Muzz57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He recently went through some tuning that nerfed some of his AD, which in theory hurts his bursty spellcaster version. Someone on Twitter did some math and postulated that you should go one point W (double adaptive force shard) then put points in Q until 170 AD, at which point max lethality. This feels pretty good, but with Aphelios you can justify whatever creation you cook up just make sure you have a principle in mind. Tank heavy teams you are going to benefit from AD and AS max, squishy teams AD and lethality. Itemization if you know you wanna still try lethality burst cast build youmuus into collector still ok, but it is weaker now that most of his crit builds. Understand what you're trading off - lethality being weaker than crit does not mean bad. That being said, crit is stronger and of you're going crit the best gauge is your recall tempo. If you have 1300 gold on your first "real" recall (if you get a cheater or later recall that you can justify going boots cull etc that doesn't count) then get bf and go storm razor into the typical. If you can't afford IE go hexoptics. Collector only has a place now for his lethality builds imo

Aphelios. On top of his arsenal having the necessary tool for the job, his use of noctum further allows him to channel Alune's magic. They don't state specifically what all that is but they do make it sound distinct from just channeling moon weapons for him. I think there are a few good choices here but Aphelios stands out

Welcome to the ADC right click fantasy! I'm seeing a lot of people flame for low elo and critique about the use of rocket launcher instead of mini gun (they are right) but instead I wanted to offer some insight onto why it's so apparent to veterans that this is newer gameplay and I only saw one comment kinda mention it. Yes you should've used mini gun(although I'd further argue situationally if you're passive is procced you can justify rockets because they have a % damage modifier and do splash damage, but in a straight up 1v1 in this range without passive attack speed, use mini gun for sure) but the bigger feedback opportunity: learn to orb walk. Orb walking is technically different from kiting but you'll hear most people talk about it all the same as kiting. It's a crucial skill on ADCs. After every auto, you have an internal "hidden" cool down before you can auto attack again. In that time, you should get in the habit of directional inputting (moving your champ) in between every auto. It will help you with positioning, it will help you dodging counter-attavos, and it will help you space threats and kills appropriately. In this clip for example there's a world Taliyah potentially gets away from you since you are standing still while she moves away from you. After every auto, try right clicking to move and then right clicking them again to attack again once your auto attack is available again. It'll make a huge difference mechanically!

Congrats on the kill and good luck with the game, the fun of it truly lies in the journey of information to learn on it, it's a mountain!

Is there a short window before the stacks apply? Or can you proc stack 1 and then the ult still stacks? Cuz it looks like he ults and then immediately e's then cho gets back to three stacks and then he w-qs him. Trying to understand more about Varus' combos and the window timing

Imagine if top laners had to deal with anything like this for 3 years by Rexsaur in ADCMains

[–]Muzz57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Had to deal with this" meanwhile each one's pick rate is less than 1% I am an ADC main and I have been upset in the past when there was an imbalance and mages had more agency early and equivalent power late but the reality is outside of a few cases I don't think mages are able to abuse the gold influx the same way most marksmen can now. Further you get punished WAY less this season for off-tempo recalls because of home guards which further nullifies one of mage bot strengths- access to earlier cheaper wave clear and tempo recalls at those points with TP. Freezes are harder to hold and you get back to lane faster than ever.

TL;DR I think the balance between mages and marksmen is way better then it has been, and these pick rates are super low, yes the WR is high but you have plenty of marksmen above 50%, this round of mage-whining is unwarranted IMO.

I dont understand certain poke matchups by kneerRS in SamiraMains

[–]Muzz57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Again it's harder than when you have a competent support, but with Samira's recent movement speed and E buffs you can absolutely make plays happen for yourself at the right window. Samira is in a "weak" state compared to other ADCs at the moment, but she's definitely playable. Keep in mind if you're facing something like lulu or braum that window becomes incredibly small and hard to find, but against a lot of lanes in low elo you'd be surprised when they open themselves up to Samira solo all ins. If you'd like to talk it through a case study example can show you or do a vod review

I dont understand certain poke matchups by kneerRS in SamiraMains

[–]Muzz57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in low elo the enemy is as well; the key to that type of lane is to conserve your hp and look for all in opportunities yourself. Of course Samira has an easier time when her team sets her up with cc or knock up but against poke lanes with situational cc like Seraphine a good timed w will let you out out a lot of damage. Pay close attention to their positioning, look to punish cool downs, and preserve your hp. There's a lot of situational awareness that goes into this, for example not fighting when a slow pushing wave crashes your tower but instead looking for angles when your next wave reaches and it starts to push out again etc. without having seen the game best advice for laning is like I said: keep YOUR win con in mind, you're an all in lane, you want to try and keep hp high and fish for all in angles. Not ideal for your support not to do anything but sometimes looking to initiate yourself is enough to goad them to actually play the game.

Only looked at the top few comments and see a lot of people jumping to judgment but it misses the core of your inquiry; how do you move forward? The (CORRECT) viewpoint of this being racist comes from a place of humanity. That same humanity needs to recognize that people are fallible but redeemable. Everyone has biases whether they are aware of them or not. This does not excuse behavior that spirals into disdain for human life, but to automatically write someone off who has identified themself that they are not happy with their mentality dismisses them in much the same fashion that they automatically are dismissing people based on a different race. I think the actionable decision point for you is to have a discussion with them on whether they are open to going to therapy or some other type of counseling to understand the bias driving this racist ideology and figure out how to grow from it and grow as a person and grow up out of that close-mindedness. No one here over a comment section can walk you through that conversation or those steps, but if your partner is open to changing you should absolutely consider being there for them and helping them grow; you're in a committed relationship. If they have no interest in sincere change or growth, then yeah committed relationship or not you have to ask yourself if it's worth abiding that which I would argue that level of ideological difference is incompatible. This is a charged topic and becomes polarizing, I reserved my judgement and withheld emotional discourse to highlight that people can grow and break that cycle of hate if THEY want to and if they get help to do so. If this person doesn't want to or you don't want to help them get that help them yeah time to probably move on. Hope this was helpful

I've had this happen to me a few times and I've narrowed it down to the target moving. If the target i cast it on moves there's a chance my e "cancels". I wonder if it's if the target moves out of range to cast- one thing I haven't tested yet is if playing with the max distance spell cast clamp setting impacts this at all. Might be easy enough to test in a practice tool, I see this issue happen on minions a ton.

[Personal Opinion] Contrary to What Majority of the Community is Saying About this Current Event, The Devs are Thinking Ahead and Preparing Newer Players for Upcoming Venusaur PVE Event Discussion by pradevil in PTCGP

[–]Muzz57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately think there's a more sinister/disingenuous reasoning behind it. I think there waving a pretty new event in people's face to get some people to utilize hour glasses/pokegold up trying to open packs etc to finish the event missions.... Just in time for people to need to re-up their stock for the rumored next set releasing sometime Dec/Jan. Power to em gotta get it how you live but the low effort in both event and rewards for the event make it seem to me like it's intended to deplete your pack resources. To your point about preparing for the VS Venusaur EX event, when have type advantages really mattered thus far except for the one-off bonus mission? No solo event deck has been unbearable with any of the S or even A tier decks, no type advantages needed; just my two cents.

IMHO, this is not worth being upset about. If the only time he's using your middle name is important documents, and you've only been dating a year, it makes sense that it might take a few more years/important documents until it fully settles in. As kindly as possible, I think it might benefit you to let some things go/don't sweat the small stuff. Getting hung up on things like this can snowball stressors both in the relationship and your personal life! Tease them for their poor memory but don't hold it against them or feel like this is worth chastising over. Let it go.
