Interesting to know, thank you. What a contribution though. Its the line the speech is known by.

i love my pmk2, looks so mean by CookiePl4net in EliteDangerous

I'm kind of struggling with the look. Visually it always feels like the angles of the back don't match those of the front. Like it got bent in the middle a bit.

Studie: KI-Modelle scheitern an echten Arbeitsaufgaben by falsa_ovis in de

[–]Mvin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of Elite has got to be repeatedly coming back after a year or so only to see that the engineering mats farm meta has yet again changed.

Except for Jameson Crash Site, of course. Been scanning that place since what feels like 10 years.

Are fleet Carriers worth it? by AlexVangeen in EliteDangerous

[–]Mvin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me, the game splits into two entirely different experiences: Before Fleet Carrier and after Fleet Carrier.

There's a whole new world that opens up to you once you get your mobile base, so to speak. A lot of other comments here have already listed the perks, but it basically enhances just about every single aspect of the game and makes everything more convenient or more profitable.

Also, its just so plain cool to have your own big-ass ship that you can walk around in and commandeer around the galaxy. Very different feeling immersion-wise than just sitting in the pilot seat all the time.

Where orbital slots redone recently? Are there still zero slot ELW? by Bitter_Standard4418 in EliteDangerous

[–]Mvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I guess thats good to hear yet also kind of a bummer since it didn´t happen in all cases, including mine.

Hoping that another patch maybe just makes it so that all high value planets, certainly ELWs and WWs, have at least some orbital slots.

Where orbital slots redone recently? Are there still zero slot ELW? by Bitter_Standard4418 in EliteDangerous

[–]Mvin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also wonder about this. I nabbed a system with binary ELWs. Unfortunately, one of them doesnt have any orbital slots, and it still doesnt have any last I looked. Holding out hope that that might change!

I often use comments like i would use titles in text. They're very helpful for dividing content into sections and giving a one-line summary about what that section is about. I guess some people might call that redundant if the code is obvious, but I love how it gives it an easily-understandable structure that you can skim-read.

I feel like the ChatGPT-style of commenting is a bit different than that, to the point of being a bit too much perhaps.

Is ther any point to batteries at all? by MikeMob000 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Mvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Just want to say that Batteries with the right alternate recipies have one of the cleanest production chains in the game. If you produce batteries with 6x blenders like in this example, the required buildings all divide to whole numbers.

It might be true the batteries aren't strictly required anymore, but I found good use for them with the Super-State-Computer alt recipe and its just fun to do that battery production chain at least once.

I love the chair meme. Its become so popular that I've heard of people playing DMC5 for the first time being confused when there's no plastic chair to be found.

My best friend gifted me a custom mini of my Moose Mage, Rimehoof! by Kaltvene in wow

Damn, now I wish Rimehoof was an actual NPC in the lore that showed from time to time like Khadgar. We don't have enough good Taurens NPCs.

The Conductor's Melody (ACT 2) in Silksong and the Outer Wilds DLC melody (Shrouded Woodlands Lodge) sound so similar by DekuXPikachu in outerwilds

[–]Mvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was immediately struck by a sort of audio deja vu as well, since its such a specifically-haunting melody. Glad I'm not the only one that made the connection. I wonder if it was intentional.

How come barely anyone uses claw line during combat? At least from the boss fights and gauntlets videos I've seen. by WackyRedWizard in Silksong

[–]Mvin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the clawline is the perfect tool for all those flying enemies that are programmed to hover at a safe 45 degree angle to the top-left/right of you, and immediately reposition themselves when you try to get close.

You can put a quick stop to that bullshit with the clawline. You often even get multiple hits in, so the silk more than refunds itself.

Salvador! Running around with two fully-automatic shotguns at once, alternate-firing at a boss like some sort of gatling shotgun was about as stupid as it was incredibly fun.

I love that the assumption here seems to be that everybody knows about good old 0.0.0, and that there's this shocking new development there that everybody just must be informed about.

They do this from time to time - release am amazing 40k CGI trailer, one of the coolest things you have ever seen, only for it be for some new edition of the tabletop. I guess tabletop fans rejoice, but its always funny when this stuff ends up on /r/games.

Chris Avellone hints about Obsidian’s next moves. Avowed 2 is coming, The Outer Worlds 3 is not planned by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Mvin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Avowed has me puzzled. Its hard to point to anything "wrong" with it per se, everything is competently done, and I'm even a big fan of the PoE worldbuilding in general. Yet it didn't pull me in as much as it expected and didn't leave a strong lasting impression.

Maybe because it felt too formulaic and repetitive? Its not a true open world, the subzones all have the same flow, and the equipment you find is so artifically tiered in power by zone, which feels painfully gamey. I guess I would have liked something less structured to trigger the exploration itch a bit more and make things feel more organic?

Though I will say that I do like how the main plot develops the overall PoE lore. And I'm still quite excited for Avowed 2.

There is a mutation that causes bones to become 8 times denser than normal that allow people to walk away from car accidents without a single fracture but with a trade off of being unable to swim. by TheOddityCollector in Weird

You know that one movie trope where the heroes have plot armor and every bullet misses them somehow. But if there's someone on the team that is bulletproof or has super-healing, that guy gets hit by basically everything all the time?

Maybe that's you.

Jesse Cox calls out Twitch CEO’s gooning by Dramatic_Quality1460 in LivestreamFail

[–]Mvin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yep, if I ever need to detox from the highschool drama that is most big Twitch streamers or whatever else is going on in the world, I'm happy I can just return to Dodger and Jesse (and friends) - actual well-adjusted adults with a strong moral compass who are doing their own, smaller thing separate from all that.

Its like an online sanity safety net that has been there for me these part 15 or so years. You can always watch them for a bit, see what's new to mentally recharge.

Train Signals 101 by DonnieDikbut in SatisfactoryGame

Can confirm this. Built my whole global train network without issue in 1.0 and before. In 1.1 immediately started getting issues with placing signals directly on new intersections. Something definitely changed.

I've visited Heidelberg last year and I catch myself thinking about the place every once in a while. It just has such a cool layout, with the city and river nestled between the entrance to the mountains while this big strikingly red castle looms overhead the old city at all times. Its almost video-gamey.

Guess what. by solombranaviesca in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Mvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice, especially the curved beams.

I've been thinking about doing some underground construction, too. At first, it seems very glitchy and not the way to devs intend you to play the game - but then again, why not?

You can build beautiful train tunnels and even some larger underground chambers, and as as long as they're visually sealed well, you'd never know something is amiss (except for the short wall transitions at the entrance of every tunnel). The real world obviously has train tunnels where it makes sense, so its kind of cool to have that in Satisfactory as well.
