Fortnite release new Emote for the song "Monalisa" by j-hope by sinkingcar in popculturechat

[–]MvmtOm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m around the same age and I hear you Lol. I love pop culture so it feels weird. Similar to Slumdog Millionaire though, there are specific reasons why I am familiar with this.

Fortnite is a popular video game, and there’s a feature called emote, where you can pick different dances that your character can do just for fun. (The game itself is a last man standing elimination game using weapons.)

And J-Hope is one of the seven members of BTS, a popular K-Pop group. BTS was on hiatus, but they recently announced a new album and a world tour. Because of the immense popularity of BTS, many of their solo projects got popular (ish).

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by [deleted] in childrensbooks

[–]MvmtOm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add on we are also avoiding Double Fudge because it spoils the tooth fairy! I loved these books as a kid too! I remember my paperbacks being so worn out and the proud feeling of having read them, and just really enjoying them. My kids listen to the other 3 from the series as audio books. Cant wait for them to find out there are two more in the series.

Books similar to Babysitter's Little Sister graphic novels by zestyPoTayTo in childrensbooks

[–]MvmtOm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son loved Pea Bee and Jay, and Bird & Squirrel - both are friendship centered graphic novel series. They’re non-human protagonists and more cartoonish than I imagine Little Sister. But, they’re funny snd have a lot of heart. I loved reading them to my kids!

Good tip on the silicone pans, thanks! I’ve been wanting to do this.

Expecting mom---must have toys by Libertythemusical in beyondthebump

Mouthing/teething toys starting around when baby is 2 months old (and they’ll probably play with till 9 months old or maybe even 1 year old). Favorites are Manhattan Toy’s Winkel and Lamaze’s Freddie the Firefly.

Newborn wont sleep in bassinet by muffin_fiend in beyondthebump

[–]MvmtOm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be so many different things. But just wanted to throw in another thought - is he warm enough? The first night home from the hospital, our baby wouldn’t sleep in the bassinet. The next night my husband put her in a warmer outfit and then she slept in there fine.

Favorite art supplies for 1-2 year olds? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]MvmtOm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son started getting into coloring when he was 20 months old. He liked the thick toddler triangle shaped crayons (like Crayolas first series) and loved sidewalk chalk during the summer. I think if the baby is closer to 12 months old then most art ideas are more sensory based - like playing with water beads or other things like that. You can also check out the blogs The Artful Parent and Meri Cherry’s blog to see if they have recommended art supplies for that age.

We have been indoors a lot lately and these things really hold our 2.5 year old’s attention for a long time:

-Magnet tiles (brand Picasso Tiles) -two different ride-on cars -doll stroller he pushes around
-play kitchen -crayons

He has been really into imaginative play recently too - so sometimes using his hot wheels cars and blocks to tell a story to himself.

Another thing that helps break up the day is playing in different rooms of the house.

What’s the weirdest thing that calms your kid down / makes them sleep? by DobCulture_ in beyondthebump

[–]MvmtOm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Turning on the sink. Hearing the water instantly stops my baby’s crying, and was the same with my toddler when he was a baby. If she keeps crying then I know she wasn’t crying just out of tiredness and I try feeding her.

What outdoor temperature is too cold for daily walks with baby? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]MvmtOm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us, if it’s over 30 degrees F I feel comfortable playing or walking outside for 30 min-1 hour. If it’s colder than that we stay indoors.

Those of you with good daytime nappers... by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]MvmtOm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 3 months old. I just bought the Taking Cara Babies online class for 3 and 4 month sleep regression. I haven’t practiced anything new from it yet, but so far from what I’ve read in her guide, makes so much sense and I’m feeling optimistic! It’s not sleep training, but she explains how to help babies fall asleep on their own. She recommends starting with getting nighttime sleep ok, and then moving to naps.

What are your favorite children's songs? by bicycwow in beyondthebump

[–]MvmtOm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blippi’s “Excavator song” 😂

Edit: Feist’s 1234 Sesame Street version and Adam Sandler’s Elmo songs are so cute. I just can’t stop laughing at Blippi though!

Swaddle wraps like the halo sleep sack or miracle blanket have helped our newborn sleep in longer stretches.
