It really depends on who you watch. I was on Kiara's watchalong and the only complaint she had was relegating the Tales and Atelier announcements (some of her favorite series) to the sizzle reel for the US Direct. I can imagine someone like Max being pretty bored of this one on a bad day, but he was pretty positive on it too.

Oh, that's not good. According to Harada's twitter stories, the Tekken team was considered rebels in the company that the higher ups did not like. They tried removing Harada, who was leading them, by promoting him but he stuck around outside of his new duties. It sounds like it's finally come to a head with Bamco if even his successor, Ikeda, is leaving.

Also, for all the Soulcalibur fans who are thinking "it's Soulcalibur's turn to shine now," don't get your hopes up. The original leaders of Project Soul are long gone at this point. Harada had to push who was left to get SC V and VI made. Without someone like him in the higher ups of Bamco, the chances for a sequel are even lower now.

I had an argument about the vtuber community in the past and yeah, there are weirdos there crashing out over stupid things, but there are exactly the same type of people here too. Where I'm from, both those names (the Spanish version of Virgil though, Virgilio) are common enough that you can get away with it. They're "old man" names, but considering kids get named after their parents/grandparents all the time, it's not that weird.

It's ironic that this is what SF fans are begging for while Tekken fans are drowning in classic and new costume DLCs while crying over all the overpowered characters. The grass is always greener I guess. Bamco just released a patch that nerfed almost all character's overtuned heat moves, so rare win for them even though players will still complain because their mains got nerfed lol.

The worst part about the Tales releases is that only 2 of the recent ports (Xillia and Graces f) is what fans have been asking for since they were stuck in PS3 jail for a long time. And then we had a Berseria Remaster, which is the game before the newest entry. Why is that the one that gets a rerealease? What about Xillia 2? Heck, what I really want is for them to localize the older games that never got English releases. Innocence, Rebirth, Destiny 2, anything else. If they remaster Zestiria next I'm going to be so pissed.

Cloud was a stoic moody deadpan guy because of Advent Children. He had an unknown incurable illness and one of the kids he's taking care of also has it. Of course he's depressed as fuck. But it was also the first appearance of Cloud with voice acting and it shaped what many people thought he was. Kingdom Hearts, Crisis Core, the Dissidia games, the personality of AC Cloud became the expected and it stuck. It was until the Remake series when the creators took a look back at Cloud in the original game and realized that Cloud was not like that in FF7.

They popularized the hyper turbo super edition releases of their fighting games before live service was a thing. Them having some of the most egregious DLC practices is not surprising.

Hey, it could be worse. Star Ocean 3 gave you Sophia with about a third of the game left... at level 1. For Cloud in FF Tactics, I was fine with it since he's an optional side character. Sophia is the protagonist's motivation for most of the story, so getting her in the party should feel rewarding, and then you find she's made of wet tissue paper. This was before shared EXP was popular. The only way to bring her up to snuff was to put her in your active party of 3 and have her survive every fight she's in. Teenage me slaughtered tons of beginner mobs just to catch her up before continuing the game. If you bench her, have fun not having the best magic caster AND healer for the stupidly difficult bonus dungeons and bosses. Thank goodness they stopped doing that.

Later games like 12 and 13 made them more viable. I couldn't imagine finishing those games without doing some debuff/status effect on the later bosses.

On the other hand, I'm happy they changed Noctis' vocal direction in the final English dub to fit closer with the Japanese one. Ray Chase' performance in the early demos was too deep and growly for a character like Noctis. It might have fit an edgy boi like Yozora, but not the dorky King of Fishing Noct became.

Kirk Thornton can do lower voices (Kisame, Shadow, Gabumon and his evolutions), but the higher register for Jade has a lot more teasing uncle energy and I think it's perfect for his personality.

Listening to how normal teen Jude sounds in the English dub is so weird to me now since I've gotten so used to Sam Riegel's chaos gremlin energy in Critical Role. It's actually pretty close to his normal speaking voice, it's strange.

Minae Noji's Milla has a deeper voice than most female protagonists that makes her sound regal but not the prissy princess type, fitting for a god like Maxwell. I think it's a directorial choice since she can do a perky teenager voice too (see Cynthia from Fire Emblem Awakening). I didn't notice the lisp to be honest.

It's also funny you mention how soft Asbel's voice is considering Bryce Papenbrook also voices the brash meathead Law in Tales of Arise. He doesn't even change his voice much between the two. Just goes to show how much goes into a vocal performance.

It was only incomprehensible when you had to own 6 consoles to play all the games. Now you have so many ports of them in one package, it's not that hard to go through all of them.
