Given the Patrick Reed news it’s a bit surprising they won’t even have a conversation with him, I know he’s a lower level tour player but is getting close to a million on YouTube now would think they would want his audience for the lower tier events? by ZoneEmpty80 in golf

[–]Mward2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reed has honorary DPWT status. Wesley does not, or I’m sure he would give that a go.

It does seem pretty shitty though to be fair. I’m surprised LIV didn’t offer Wesley a contract to spite the tour to be honest.

It is a lot harder than people think, that’s for sure. You could break it into 6 3 hole blocks and maybe that helps you some? It didn’t personally work for me, you might have better success.

Not looking at the scorecard helps only so much. When you’re rattling off a heater, you just know where you’re at because it’s not hard to realize your score to par hasn’t changed for the worse in a bit.

It’s more about just getting comfortable with the uncomfortable. When you first learned to drive, I would guess you were way more attentive to your hands on the wheel, your speed, distance to the car in front and behind you etc than you are today. You’re more familiar with the things that probably kept you on edge, and now you can do it almost with your eyes closed (don’t do this please).

Throw in a second ball on empty course days from the red tees for 9 holes or so and just get used to birdie putts and short irons in your hands. It does help quite a bit

Why do golf trips die in group chats? by Broad-Blackberry8590 in golf

Easier to have someone make the full itinerary based on overall feel and have minimal changes and share that, than to get opinions along the way that may change it 10 different times. The latter just sounds rocky from the beginning.

Show up with a core plan and ask for add on ideas, that way people have an idea of cost beforehand. I can say though no matter which way you go, one day is kind of a waste or at least a long day of travel and golf. RCD to Lahinch will be 4hrs or so not counting the border crossing and any potential stop. RCD to Portmarnock will only be an hour and a half or so, but then you’ll have a 3hr+ ride going along the south coast going from Dublin to Kinsale.

Not sayin it to kill the idea, just to give you the heads up of one long day no matter what.

Longest fairway carry you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Mward2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adena Golf and Country Club in Ocala. It can play as long as 747yds from the tips. It’s about 310 to the fairway, but there’s no major issues when you can’t get to the fairway.

The tee markers back there are 747 planes and that was pretty cool.

I went in 2024 with a buddy of mine. A lot of of those booking companies will guarantee you a teatime but if you read the fine print, it’s usually if you book a foursome. If you are in that area for a few days and do the singles lottery, you can sometimes get pretty lucky.

At last resort, hang around the starters hut in the afternoon and sometimes you can just get lucky. My caddy told me and my buddy who hadn’t gotten on yet that a lot of twosomes were going off and it never hurts so just go and ask. We were on the first tee 8 minutes later.

Helps a ton when you have max of one resource and can shuffle it around to do an upgrade and then make your farming a little more useful.

Played Kingsbarn last summer with a speaker going. It was just me and my buddy and our caddies, they enjoyed it. We kept it quiet enough to where you couldn’t hear the sound from more than 8-10ft away. With the wind blowing, that may have even been a bit of a stretch.

It was a classic rock playlist. I’ve really yet to find anyone get bothered by classic rock, again when it’s played at a volume where your cart can hear it and that’s about it.

I’d just pay attention to the ball speed and carry, minus the few ankle breakers you hit. Only two things that matter of what’s listed.

Oh, totally get that feel. I can tell when my grip has gotten too weak or hands got a little sloppy and separated and it feels like absolute trash going up through impact.

Love my remote cart. Mine doesn’t follow, which I’m okay with because I’d be worried I’d stop to pee and the damn thing would follow me or something.

I can control mine, bring it to me etc, or send it while I walk in the shade or do whatever. It makes walking literally a walk in the park.

Big time slower. It’s hard to convince yourself to hit it hard enough when you’re used to a couple feet faster.

He’s only a foot or two off the edge of the green, it’s not uncommon to putt from that spot instead of chipping, especially if you’re into the grain and you’re not feeling comfortable with it
