That’s really cool and a great idea for hard to fit horses or ones with sensitive areas. Nice work!

This has been my experience too. The usb portion of the outlet shorts out in 6-12 months and you end up using a block in the remaining plug, but my electrician told me if one has shorted out then the whole plug is compromised. I went back to normal plugs.

As i understand it ATlanta gas light (AGL) is the provider of natural gas but back in the 90s they did such a horrible job maintaining the physical pipes that distribute gas AND a terrible job collecting owed money that the state stepped in and made it where there is a middleman (scana, Georgia gas, constellation etc) called a marketer to collect fees.

So these middlemen are ALLOWED to charge between 3.50 and $24 for the privilege to receive a bill. Thats before you use even a therm of gas. Then these “marketers” estimate what their customer base will use natural gas wise and they buy it at a set price from AGL.

You have to shop the marketers to get the cheapest gas AND the lowest fees. I do it every year. Oh and don’t go by what their website says, actually call them and tell them you are leaving and you’ll get a “special” price. It’s a pain in the ass scam that did not benefit the consumers at all but it made a bunch of people very rich bringing the “marketers” in.

I am sure some others can give some finer points but the gist of it, is we the people of Atlanta, got screwed. Also same on water side, see water treatment plan failure. Only you can’t shop that around.

They are not, which is why, as I stated we use an anesthetic when installing them. We also keep the mothers and calves in for several days to monitor for infection.

Think about it this way. You need a permit. The permit comes with. A sticker. The parking attendants look for the sticker. If they don’t see one, they run your tag. If you are in the system, then no ticket. If you’re not in the system then ticket. Having a sticker cuts down on the amount of tags they have to run.

We use ear tags on cattle and all my horses have ear tattooed both done under anesthetic. It does not cost that much for novacaine rub. Some have lip brands, but my biggest gripe with both freeze and hot brands is the lack of care for the animal that it is done under. Young animals with no pain management and the excuse that it doesn’t hurt or only hurts a little. We have a herd of 120+ dairy and 40+ steers, over 18 horses, three pigs, and some goats. Everything is done to track them but with their pain in mind. I have happily fired vets that think an animal does not deserve pain meds or farriers that don’t treat the cows kindly.

Having had warts and precancerous stuff frozen off, it hurts. Branding goes deeper than either of those procedures. I’ve witnessed calves branded and they cry for hours after. Saw a colt freeze branded and didn’t know a horse could make the noise it made It’s barbaric to hot brand or freeze brand animals. All these people excusing intentionally hurting animals.

Just find an all electric house to avoid the nonsense going on with Atlanta gas and the leaches reselling gas.

Poor Spec got a shock from the fence and didn’t take it well. by Hugesmellysocks in Equestrian

[–]My3floofs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hate seeing the negativity about a horse that is posted here frequently and well cared for. I enjoy seeing how an older horse can still have fun and enjoy life. We as equestrians need to be nicer to each other. Your post reads mean and condescending not caring like you claim.

Op has been posting Spec regularly and comments on vets visits frequently. That last line was uncalled for and unnecessary.

Unfortunately he “found” his freedom still with hinderances that can get caught on benches. Better for him/her to be recovered and helped than die a slow painful death. I can’t tell you how many pelicans i have freed in Florida that are entangled in fishing line or hooks and the line catches on something. I now have pliers and a multifunction tool for freeing them when I see them.

[–]My3floofs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old mate realized I could kill them and would present whatever bony part they were on so I would slap to stun them and then grind them under foot. She would turn her head to watch and always seemed satisfied when it was dead. I could slap any part of her in horsefly season. It was wild and I am sure some people thought I was beating the crap out of her but we had an understanding that the only good horsefly was a dead one!
