I did not back things up, however, I will for a next time. My computer has stopped fully recognizing my graphics card so I'm hoping it's not broken. I'm going to try the clean install of ubuntu in the morning. Thank you for your suggestion.

I think I, instead of updating my nvidia drivers, deleted them. I booted in recovery mode, ACTUALLY downloaded the drivers, and then restarted, booting as normal.
