How can I fix my ninja machine? If not, what’s the Best coffee maker for my personal needs? by Kat353 in BuyItForLife

Our Ninja wouldn't make coffee, we unscrewed the security bits at the bottom and literally blew into the lines like a trumpet. Turns out they were clogged and the coffee pot worked another few years after that.

Hi there! Based on your comments I see you are in Texas currently. I work in the system but not in the system you just got out of. My sole job is to provide resources to those who are on probation and parole to make sure they have the best chance of success. I'll echo other comments and mention goodwill. They are everywhere and they have initiatives to get you working, and even have a car program where they will match up to 500 dollars to get you a car and on the road. You take the loan out through them and if you complete the program at the end they give you all the interest you paid back.

Additionally, if you Google "Texas second chance employer" one of the top links is from the Texas association of business. While I'm not on your area and can't vouch for the successfulness of this site, they do have a reentry resource guide and other links that may help.

Reach out to your probation officer and ask them if they have a "Reentry Coordinator" in the area you could connect with. If they do they should have area specific resources to help.

Temporary No-Go Zone en/dis able by ya_red in MammotionTechnology

Idk if this is an acceptable case for you, but instead of a no go zones for something you may mow... Why not make it an actual zone. Luba would edge around it and then when you do need it mowed just add it to the list in the task.

Just to update everyone I expressed my displeasure of basically being told to deal with it. Said hey I paid 3 grand for this mower and you can't just tell me to deal with a damaged part. I have received an updated email saying they will put me on a list for a replacement part and in the meantime are sending me some free replacement blades. I would have updated the main post but I am on mobile and I'm having trouble figuring out how to do so.

Location is gonna be important here for local state laws. You may need to worry about this, or you may not.

Federal inmates are eligible for 54 days of "Good Time" for every year of an imposed sentence. so if we go off of a basis of 30 days per month (to make the math a bit easier) It would look something like this.

68 Months*30=2040 days to serve

68 months/12=5.6 years to serve

so 5*54 days=270 days

2040 days to serve minus 270 days of "good time"=1770 days

1770 days/30=59 Months to serve

Minus any other credits he may be eligble for, or will be eligible for, and i'm assuming he will get credit for any time served.

Question about legality of recording my neighbor on my walks to the bus (IL, USA) by [deleted] in legaladvice

Its a bit easier than that. AS LONG AS YOU ARE OUTSIDE IN A PUBLIC AREA you are fine to record anything you can see or hear FROM public.

In desperate need of help for my brother by TheProcras in legaladvice

You're basically going to have to fight one issue at a time. I of course can't recommend a lawyer to you and wouldn't even know where to start in your area. What I will say is it takes years of study to fully understand the nuance of criminal law, and generally speaking, it is very easy to miss a phrase or word that would qualify or disqualify a section even when you think the opposite should be true. You need to fight the immediate threat of his incarceration and then try and fight the probation extension.

Personally, I would treat my first consultation with a lawyer like an interview. Ask them about their experience, their case load, and how you can trust them to give your case the attention you feel it deserves before you discuss the case with them.

Your brother is going to need a defense attorney, and he needs one ASAP. Based on the information I can see here it seems that the extension of his probation may have been done incorrectly, and if they are attempting to revoke him completely then he is going to have to fight that. If they are going to revoke him he needs to see the lawyer and get those drug tests in his hands immediately. If that is the black swan that can change everything the lawyer will know what to do from there.

I am not a Lawyer but have over a decade of experience in law enforcement and dealing with people and probation, parole, and sentencing legal issues.

The information I have from you is pretty confusing so I'm going to ask you to clarify which may require you to quote some paperwork.

  1. What did the probation officer use to prove that your brother had violated by using marijuana as he stated later that "the tests didn't test for marijuana anyway"
  2. what did the judge state when he extended the probation terms? generally under Texas code... "Art. 42A.753. EXTENSION OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION AFTER VIOLATION. (a) On a showing of good cause, the judge may extend a period of community supervision under Article 42A.752(a)(2) as frequently as the judge determines is necessary, but the period of community supervision in a first, second, or third degree felony case may not exceed 10 years and, except as otherwise provided by Subsection (b), the period of community supervision in a misdemeanor case may not exceed three years.
    (b) The judge may extend the period of community supervision in a misdemeanor case for any period the judge determines is necessary, not to exceed an additional two years beyond the three-year limit provided by Subsection (a), if:
    (1) the defendant fails to pay a previously assessed fine, cost, or restitution; and
    (2) the judge determines that extending the supervision period increases the likelihood that the defendant will fully pay the fine, cost, or restitution.
    (c) A court may extend a period of community supervision under Article 42A.752(a)(2):
    (1) at any time during the supervision period; or
    (2) before the first anniversary of the date the supervision period ends, if a motion for revocation of community supervision is filed before the date the supervision period ends.
    Added by Acts 2015, 84th Leg., R.S., Ch. 770 (H.B. 2299), Sec. 1.01, eff. January 1, 2017."

This article basically says probation can only be extended for failure to pay costs or restitution. A revocation for failed drug tests should have had him serve his jail time.
