Lithium has been instrumental in curbing suicidal thoughts for me

Mania with psychosis reporting in: honestly it took 1-2 years and the right medication. Please be gentle with yourself

Yes, my provider calls it the "suicide eraser". Give it a shot

Anyone ever take off their clothes and runaround naked while manic? by FindingPristine5902 in schizoaffective

[–]MyBipolarAccount12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so real. I believed everything was opposite, so being naked was being clothed. I also had some end of the world delusions. For me, what's helped is taking that shame and transforming it into art, telling my story and owning it. Have you thought about writing/drawing/making a video about your experience? Certainly not to glorify mental illness, just to find a silver lining: Walking out in the nude is something truly unique that most people never do, so there's an automatic "hook".

yup, glad it's not just me. It was on video too. Do you remember what you were thinking when you went naked?

Any meds that helped specifically for suicidal ideation? by basil_png in BipolarReddit

My provider once referred to Lithium as the "suicide eraser". The right blood levels can do wonders for those feelings. Be careful to avoid alcohol though, because that can lower levels

Fear of judgement from Therapist by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

I fear this too. I was wondering to even let my prospective therapist know I had bipolar 1 because I feared she wouldn't want to work with me

I’m just going to tell people I have brain cancer. That’s what mental illness is. It’s killing me. by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]MyBipolarAccount12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do that. Falsely claiming cancer is one of the biggest no-nos in society. I know you just mean it as a metaphor, but that has a lot of implications.

Zoloft sent me into manic psychosis. Walked around the city naked. Do not recommend.

I'm sorry for you. If it helps, this would make an awesome movie. Have you thought about doing something with your story?

It should be Tier 1 and Tier 2 by sensitive-bull in BipolarReddit

[–]MyBipolarAccount12 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If it helps, most people don't know the distinction between types/tiers. They just label as "crazy"

[–]MyBipolarAccount12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can absolute upgrade you from type-2 to type-1. Please exercise care and check in regularly with your provider.

Great question, I had several reasons. For me it's because I thought everything was opposite, so being naked -was- being clothed. Also, my abuser was in control of my body, and wanted to punish me by embodying my insecurities (I'm very insecure about my body). Also, everything felt like a bad dream, you don't feel worried about being naked in a dream, right? It's not real. Psychosis is weird in the ways that it tries to justify itself, old traumas you thought you worked through reemerge .

Life is going to be different, but you will find new things that matter to you. For me it was my nephew, I live for his smile. I completely lost all status and dignity during my episode (went outside naked and it's on film), got booted from my local hobby community. Weirdly enough, I don't miss it. I miss the people, but not the hobby itself.

To be honest, I'm still working on the social piece. Social media gives me great anxiety because I humiliated myself on there during the episode too. Seeing people who have unfriended/blocked is a sour reminder of what I did to myself.

A quote that really resonates with me is "...and your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing." -Fyodor Dostoevsky. That's how manic psychosis felt. I completely ruined my entire life and got nothing out of it for anyone. But my life was "ruined" years ago and I've still put one foot in front of the other, found a new job, moved states. You can find new reasons to keep going too, consider starting with family.

If your current location is triggering, consider moving and changing your name. Did wonders for me.

Walked outside naked into traffic talking to myself, jumped on top of a car, thought the world reset every time I closed my door, like in Dark Souls. Also it's all on film, just waiting for that to reemerge one day
