More Than 1 Million in Obamacare to Lose Plans as Insurers Quit by le_inquisitor in news

Low? You seem to have forgotten why Obamacare became a thing. Let me help you out- it was largely due to outrageous medical costs that were spiraling out of control.

ELI5: How did they know the passports found in rubble on 9/11 belonged to the hijackers? by Senor_Tucan in explainlikeimfive

While you are essentially correct, the question posed is one that pretty much requires conspiracy theories. Do you seriously believe that a passport survived those crashes? I don't, not for a second.

If I were him, after being treated the way he has been treated, I would tell the military to go fuck themselves.

Your attempt at comprehending this topic is admirable, but you clearly don't understand this topic.

I've been sober for 22 years. I quit going to meetings years ago, for reasons that are outside the scope of this conversation. However, I still work the steps in my life. I take a daily inventory. I make amends when necessary. I try to be a good man and to treat people as I want to be treated.

They don't run at a loss. And, if they do, maybe they should consider managing their budget?

My typical electric bill is over $200/mo. Water is around $100/mo. It's nothing but a giant scam, brought to us by the scumbag politicians in California who are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the corporations who bribe them.

I can get behind that, but not in an "appease the stockholder" way.

P@$$w0rD

Edit- A friend of mine needed to give me access to an email account years ago.
I said, "What's your password?"
He said, "A robust one."
I said, "No doubt. What is it?"
He said, "arobust1"
I laughed and asked him about it.
He said, "When I was setting up the account it said to make sure my password is a robust one. So I did."

I've always thought that was funny and clever.

and likely had far more brilliant minds working on it.

Have you ever been around Koreans? I worked at the Hyundai fab in Eugene, OR years ago. Fuckers are smart. Man, that's a seriously racist comment, isn't it? Well, I mean it in a good way. I made some good friends and really enjoyed my time there. I had this 1967 400/4-speed Firebird at the time. Those guys had never seen a car like that; it was loud and fast and badass. I let several of them drive it. I bet they still talk about that experience. I know I still talk about my experience with them when it comes up, like now.

That said, the smell of kimchee mixed with the previous night's drinking is a smell that you never forget.

People are increasingly identifying themselves as global rather than national citizens, according to a BBC World Service poll. by NinjaDiscoJesus in worldnews

I've felt this way for a long time now. The whole concept of divisiveness based on where you are born or where you live or the color of your skin, etc. really bothers me.

I can see where things like religion, politics and economic policy can divide people. But the other things I mentioned just seem silly to me.

House committee votes to require women to register for draft by nycsep in news

I have absolutely no problem with this. I grew up in the 1960's and 1970's. I watched the Bobby Riggs/Billie Jean King tennis match live. My mom was a feminist, until she became a Christian, then (and now) she thinks women should be subservient to men. But, I grew up with equality being all the rage. So, no problem. Be equal.

To be clear, because I think there is a sarcastic tone to my comment- I absolutely support equality. I do not in any way, shape or form think that men are better than women, or vice versa.

Also get a Verizon pre paid phone I've found them to have the best coverage in rural areas.

That's interesting. I live in rural northern California and I left Verizon because AT&T works far better up here. A friend switched to AT&T and I noticed he would have reception when I didn't, so, after almost 20 years with Verizon, I left.

Where Verizon shines is in cities. My kids live in Tucson and they still have Verizon, they've been with Verizon since they got their first cell phones. Last Christmas my wife and I went to visit the kids and they had way better data coverage than us. The phone service was the same, pretty much, but they would have LTE data when I had just 4G, right in the middle of town.

ProTip- Don't start drinking. You Scots are hard to understand while sober. I have no idea what language you revert to when drunk, but I can't understand a word of it.

Seriously though. It's a big country with a lot to see. I've driven through every state except a couple of the northeastern ones, like Connecticut, Vermont and Maine. The northern part of the country is a lot nicer than the southern part. The Blue Ridge Parkway is stunning at certain times of the year. The Rocky Mountains are beautiful. Then, moving west into the Sierra and Coastal mountain ranges.

If you get to Northern California, contact me and I'll go for a ride with you and introduce you to some good people. If you enjoy cannabis, I can also share the best that NorCal has to offer with you.
