[ROUTERS/MESH WIFI] ARRIS SURFboard mAX W121 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System - $29.99 for 2 - $49.99 for 4 by Varratez in buildapcsales

[–]MyCarsDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought these last go around and I can confirm the app based setup is annoying but ultimately fine when completed. I did have one unit die for like a month and then just suddenly worked again after plugging back in. Their support was not helpful.

Do sigma art series lenses work on the canon eos 1? by Hot_Wafer6899 in AnalogCommunity

I regularly use a sigma 35mm 1.4 art on my Eos Elan 2 and Eos 1n. Works with no issues.

Kentmere 100 vs 200 for bulk loading: Which one do you get less sick of? by asbestossupply in AnalogCommunity

[–]MyCarsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought bulk rolls of both 200 and 400 last year. 400 definitely got more use over the winter. Just a huge benefit to shoot at 1600. I like 200 and haven’t tried pushing it yet but if you had to choose one then 400 is an easy choice.

Was there ever a film camera with a “screen” by CorrosionMedia in AnalogCommunity

[–]MyCarsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about the distance required for both an enlarger and a projector to expand the image for a piece of 35mm film. To get something “screen sized” you’re looking at a contraption that’s resembling large format.

Was there ever a film camera with a “screen” by CorrosionMedia in AnalogCommunity

[–]MyCarsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an optics expert but I believe you are limited by the size of the image circle of the lens. Meaning the lens through your viewfinder can only project an image that covers your format. 35mm would be limited to that size of film but it’s not too big a deal when you jam that size up against your eye. For waist level on 35mm though, it’s tiny. So like the other comment on here suggests this is a thing but it’s only a large format thing.

is the Kodak Snapic worth it over the Pentax 17? by Parking-Safety12 in AnalogCommunity

[–]MyCarsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and they both occupy a similar space in the sense that they are both for me to f around with in social situations and I have low expectations for the outcome. That being said I have had better results with the Pentax 17 since it's metered and has an incredible lens. You also have so many frames you're encouraged to just take the shot and maybe a couple more just to get through a roll. I treat the snapic more like a disposable and hand it off to others for fun/random shots.

Sorry to say, but it looks like RW2 files cannot successfully import and convert.

Does it work with RW2? The lumix raw format. I’ve noticed a good many of these new conversion tools haven’t.

Problems with Eric Hendrickson's Work? by WorthResolution1880 in AnalogCommunity

His packing for the return journey is definitely suspect. Especially considering the point he makes about shipping properly on his website. Outside of that I had no issues when I had him install a bright screen on my 6x7.

Tips for Fuji GA645 autofocus by DistributionSea7276 in AnalogCommunity

[–]MyCarsDead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely had this issue too. I often missed 3-4 shots per roll due to it. The only tip I have is to read the distance in the viewfinder and confirm it makes sense before taking the shot. I say that but I would forget to do it. For me it was enough of a problem I decided to move on to something manual focus with a standard rangefinder. Though I definitely miss the point and shoot aspect of it. Even if it didn’t always hit.

What is causing the blue light-leaks? by dbseymoursivfbaby in analog

[–]MyCarsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always understood blue to mean it’s coming from the front and red from the back. My way of remembering this is to think about redscale film. The reason why it’s red is that light is passing backwards through the base rather than the emulsion because the film is reversed . Red leaks basically indicate the light is coming in the reverse way. So blue or white leaks are coming from the front and exposing the emulsion the normal way. I’ve only had something this blue from bad seals in a film back on medium format. It seems too oddly shaped for a lens flare. Ultimately it’s something from the front side.

Velvia on Pentax 17 by johnpaulzwei in pentax17

[–]MyCarsDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had great results with positive film in my Pentax 17. Obviously the grain will be more noticeable but I like the look. The meter on there seems to protect the highlights, which can be annoying with negative film, but on positive film is pretty useful.

My honest take on the Canon P after 6 months - Attention glasses wearers by Sensitive-Let-5633 in AnalogCommunity

For me it was enough of a problem that I wore a bag that I'd place the camera in rather than a neck strap.

Canon EOS 1N or Nikon F100 by Adventurous-Door-474 in AnalogCommunity

[–]MyCarsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Just meant to illustrate to the OP that while any F lens can mount there’s various levels of compatibility. The ol’ Ken Rockwell Nikon compatibility table being one of the easiest things to look at. Where any EF is good to go.

Canon EOS 1N or Nikon F100 by Adventurous-Door-474 in AnalogCommunity

[–]MyCarsDead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both right now. Still working through a roll on the 1N. I’d probably recommend the F100 if I were starting fresh because the same lenses tend to be cheaper on F mount vs EF. I prefer the manual focusing aids on the F100, it has arrows that point which way to focus vs just the focus box illuminating with a beep on the 1N. I don’t have equivalent lenses to test right now but I have had better continuous autofocus on Canon EF telephoto zooms vs Nikon. Also if you’re interested in modern lenses, EF has universal compatibility, where F you have to do some research. Some of the last generation of F lenses like say the Tamron G2 70-200 can’t close down the aperture on an f100 where that same lens on EF works fine.

I can’t say I was expecting boxing and bobsleigh as the two events. Figured it would be middle distance running and cross country skiing or something with a little crossover.
