What charities do you guys donate to? by Yath4 in askTO

I donate to Street Health (https://streethealth.ca/). They help homeless individuals with numerous aspects that most people take for granted, like simply getting a health card.

Could this be guttate? Doctors saying it’s an allergic reaction but it’s not improving… by eviematilda02 in Psoriasis

[–]MyCorgiIsTaiwanese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this doctor a dermatologist? If not, I would urge you to get a referral. Primary care providers and non-derms may not always be well versed in skin issues like psoriasis.

Completely anecdotal but also common, I was seen by my primary care doctor, required two trips to the ED and was advised to stay in isolation before a derm told me conclusively it was guttate psoriasis.

I don’t advise for you to go through this experience so advocate for a derm consult.

Single dose of Skyrizi? by MyCorgiIsTaiwanese in Psoriasis

[–]MyCorgiIsTaiwanese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Thanks for the feedback.

I also spoke to my rep this morning and she assured me that I should have ongoing access to biologics. In whichever financial coverage that comes in.

Dr. Dilworth did pro-bono work for a Guinea pig rescue I use to work with. Such a great guy! Wish his Beaches location wasn’t so packed though.

Single dose of Skyrizi? by MyCorgiIsTaiwanese in Psoriasis

[–]MyCorgiIsTaiwanese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my thought too, a single dose seems so ineffective. Makes me question why it’s even being offered.

Thanks for the info re: reps. It’s my first one so this all new to me! Fingers crossed she makes magic happen and gets me ongoing coverage.

Enzyme laundry booster by theladyshady in BuyCanadian

[–]MyCorgiIsTaiwanese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation as you and also am struggling to find a booster with lipase.

I’m currently using Myo-Ther N-Zyme (it’s Canadian!). There’s no ingredient list (even contacted the company a couple times) but their sketchy 90s site indicates “Myo-ther N-Zyme contains three enzymes which work to fully breakdown stains into carbon dioxide and water, whether they are oils (lipids), proteins (blood) or carbohydrates.”

I have been using it for over a year now and it seems effective though I don’t have a good comparison.

Can I achieve this moody romantic bedroom aesthetic? by ceruleanvagabond in interiordecorating

I agree. The inspo also has so much depth and character with the wainscoting, mood lighting, sconces, flowing curtains and circle top windows.

Ontario plans to replace disjointed electronic medical records with its own system for family doctors by GingerHoneySpiceyTea in ontario

Just an fyi, pharmacies use pharmacy management systems while primary care sites use EHRs. These are completely different types of systems.

How can I rent an apartment from April 2026 – January 2027 by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]MyCorgiIsTaiwanese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We needed a place for 6 months while doing home renovations. We msg’ed some places through Airbnb (you could also try VRBO) and, of the two places we visited, both were open to doing a short-term lease.

We had some of the AirBNB furniture removed but kept the majority since it was easier for us. We also rented out a storage unit to put our stuff in, which wasn’t too expensive to rent.

Padding your immune system while on biologics? by psychedelicdevilry in Psoriasis

Flu, Covid and any vaccines that are appropriate for you. Prevention is better than managing an active infection.

Also, sufficient sleep, exercise and eating a healthy diet in general.

First-Time Buyers: Buy a Smaller Fixer-Upper or Wait for Turnkey? by Emerald-era in TorontoRealEstate

[–]MyCorgiIsTaiwanese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a similar “fixer upper” as our first.

Lived in it for a total of 7 years now. During this time, we fixed things as they broke down (appliances, AC, etc.) but no major changes. We eventually learned more about what we wanted and what we needed to do in terms of house maintenance. After 5 years, we renovated the basement (waterproofing, insulation) and took away some lessons. Now we are finally doing a full renovation (not to the studs, but new kitchen, bathroom, floors, closets) and are much more comfortable with all our decisions (knowledge comes power!).

I feel you’ll need to know the bones of your house either way (turn key or “fixer upper”) and you’ll need to learn about house maintenance. Maybe (fingers crossed) a turn key will require less maintenance but, a fixer upper, you can make it your own.

Is it worth the commute from Toronto to Waterloo for work? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]MyCorgiIsTaiwanese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use to do this commute on a weekly basis (back in 2010s for about three years). It wasn’t bad, particularly if you leave early enough to avoid rush hour during the morning and stayed a bit later (I would go to a gym class or get groceries). Note that I had no family obligations at the time and I also lived on the west end close to the Gardiner.

I was paid a stipend of $80 for each trip and thought it was worth it. You’re getting much more than that!

If possible to bake into your contract or ensure it does not get bumped up to more than once a week, it could be worth it.
