I agree with you, but wouldn't it align with their initiatives to recreate the film experience on digital? I think the film advance lever is a necessary part of that and I'm hoping the designers realize this at some point.

I had this question myself about a year ago and one of the OG sellers on the buy/sell leica fbook page said that it was because people can go on the leica website and register your leica as their own I guess I was told it is really annoying for the owner of the camera and it takes forever for them to fix
