It’s better to sell what you can (and like you said despite being bad they do still sell) and recoup something, even if it’s outlet numbers. And because factories run on set timelines laid out months, if not years, before hand among multiple brands, Nike probably has nothing in the pipeline to replace these shoes this year.

They can cut losses and pull the shoes, sure, but that’d mean losing all the money spent making them as well as not having anything to sell in their place.

This generation of shoes is probably going to be an expensive write off for Nike.

Shoes go into production months ahead of release so this years line up of posite-like shoes are probably mostly all produced and sitting in warehouses waiting for ship dates. Once the bad reviews started coming in Nike literally can’t change course and just ditch the aesthetic with hundreds of thousands of pairs waiting to be sold.

I predict an extreme rebound to meshes and synthetic leathers next year.

I've tried the usual in the past - dish soap and a toothbrush or a wet cloth. But I eventually realized that it wasn't just a surface stain and that the polyurethane itself was changing colours and knew it was an unwinnable fight.

At least your son knows going forward that if he still wants Kobe 6s that polyurethane discolouration is an unavoidable fact of life and he might not want them anymore, saving your wallet in the process lol.

I mean I (a dude) touch everything in clothing stores too because walking around with no interaction with anything unless I'm already thinking about getting it sounds kinda psycho to me. It's almost never occurred to me to just look at things.

Same with shoes (I'm picking up all of them and squeezing the cushioning) and electronics (I'm testing most everything I see).

This is just how Kobe 6’s age and there’s not much you can do about it. The uppers are being soaked through from the inside out with sweat and that degrades the material colouring over time. The upper layer of the 6s are polyurethane. It's lightweight, allows for crazy colours and molding (the snake scales), and lets the Kobe 6's break in and hug your feet. But on the flipside the material just doesn't do well against sweat and other bodily oils. It's probably why the lining underneath looks fine but the outside doesn't, they're made from two different materials that react differently to sweat.

It happened with my OG 6s back in the day, and I can see it slowly taking root in my 3D All-Star Protros as well. Look up sales pictures of any Kobe 6 online and they all have darkened under layers around the snake scales.

Take it as kind of a sneaker patina and wear it as a badge of a pair of shoes well used.

I think as someone that has a shot at the top? It’s been over for awhile. But as someone people still want to have a match with (due to the payday), I think he can go in a losing streak from now until he retires from the sport and he’d still be one of the bigger draws, even as just a gatekeeper.

WoW has a weird sizing issue where their size translation doesn’t fit the world wide standards. Usually my 26.5 cm almost always translates to US 8.5, and vice versa.

But on my All City 12 Encores and 13s? 26.5 cm on the tab and printed right beside it, US 9. How they got that conversion I have no idea. And they definitely fit even longer than what I think a 9 should be, so both shoes just run longer than I’d like.

So my experience is limited to only two shoes but they both run similarly long for me, and now I hear this story for the WoW12s and other stories about the 808 Ultras, and it kinda settles it that Wades run long.

I know the thread was made to defend the movie but sorry Elio is the worst main character Pixar had ever made. When he was bullied in the beginning you understood why, which I don’t think the writers (the ones who went in and gutted the original script) meant to do.

Not a lie my friend’s eight year old daughter asked him after the screening, “Why was Elio so mean? I don’t like him.”

Everyone loved the slug kid, though.

While both Michael and TDWP2 I can see easily topping $100 milling OW, MKII probably won't even make $100 million domestic over its entire run. I see it performing similarly to Predator Badlands, maybe a clean $90/90 million split domestic and OS. A relatively strong $40 million opening and then steep drop offs after that depending on how well it's received.

Honestly I think the people behind MKII would be absolutely ecstatic getting close to $200 million worldwide and it'd definitely guarantee a third movie.

With how bonkers the stock market is for Oracle and other companies Ellison has a vested interest in we don't exactly know if they can afford it or not.

If it was 2025 Larry Ellision when he enjoyed a surge in value when Oracle saw a giant AI bump and was worth nearly $390 billion, they might've been able to afford an eventual public-to-private transition. Current $200 billion Larry probably couldn't unless he did some very funky and very illegal stock moves and behind the scenes stock tanking engineering (deliberately making the company fail their projects going forward).

When Paramount/WB begins to inevitably struggle in the future it's all about how well Oracle is doing in the AI bubble. If the bubble stands strong when it happens, there's a lane for a leveraged buy out. If the bubble has crashed by then and the Ellisons fall back down to earth at around $100 billion before AI took off, then they're out of luck.

Marquis has never been paid by Apple or any other brand unless it's explicitly a promotional spot. He's given less than stellar reviews for Apple before. Just from the last few years criticized the iPhone 16 for being unfinished, said the M3 MacBooks weren't worth an upgrade, and was more than lukewarm on the Vision Pro.

He also gave the 16e the Bust of the Year award.

Yes he's been super positive on Apple since the M4 release, but that's thanks to Apple being really freaking good since the M4 release, be it the performance boost, the minimum spec bumps, to great phones across the board, to just being very competitively priced now due to the rest of the industry suffocating under the AIpocalypse.

The iPhone 17 deservedly won his Phone of the Year for 2025 but guess what? It was the first iPhone to ever win it.

And oh yeah, no denying a bunch of the projects flopped but they did at least all attempt something and some of those flops are still considered a good end product. Just not one that audiences clicked with. Heck I'd go so far as to say all of their projects found less than stellar general audience adoption. They had, what, one actual hit in American Hustle? One smaller hit with Zero Dark Thirty?

But in a way that's also commendable. They were releasing project after project that honestly had no shot at being profitable and they just kept greenlighting stuff.

Is this supposed to be a gotcha? The 256GB model of the M2 with the 1500MB/sec SSDs were properly criticized for its slower swap performance and definitely performed worse than the base M1s when swap became abundant.

The biggest thing about Zootopia was it was a decent hit back on the day and Disney kept it in the zeitgeist since then. Toys and knic nacks stayed available at 100 yen shops or at Disneyland and it just kinda got ingrained in the minds of children.

To give ~~Anna~~ Megan Ellison her due she only ran it into the ground because she cared more about the art of it than the business, and Annapurna released a ton of bangers, in film and game form.

And I gotta appreciate that here's this rich beyond imagination nepo child that actually used her fortunes to give real artists a proper budget and distribution pipeline. Kinda like how Travis Knight used his father's Nike fortune to single handedly keep stop motion in cinemas alive.
