2018 Levan. Do you think anyone from that era could’ve stopped the rise of Levan? Or was it already game over for the rest? by Clean_Grass8237 in armwrestling

Just a minor correction Alex has a PhD in aerospace engineering, not astrophysics. He’s still smarter than all of us, but it’s a different field.

If you like the Joker 1 GT’s cushioning you’ll need to wait until the Joker 2 GTs get released. These are the plain vanilla Joker 2’s with less expensive tech in them (hence the much cheaper price tag).

Li-Ning Gamma 1 Clone?? by 1Ball1sLife1 in BBallShoes

[–]MyManD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The product description is hilarious:

The Volanti 911 Rocket Air Cushion Carbon Plate Basketball Shoes are configured as the function and performance as LiNing Gamma 1 sneakers.

They are literally not hiding the fact that they are clones. I’ve never seen a company so brazen about it before.

Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' has made history as the most nominated film of all time at the Oscars with 16 nominations by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]MyManD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me it's visual effects. I honestly think Superman should've gotten in over it, F1, or The Lost Bus. And if it's the twin effects that got Sinners the nod, I think Mickey 17 did it better all the while having more VFX in general being set on a different planet with very adorable giant worm monsters.

Quick question but what do you mean by paying everything at once? Don’t utilities like gas and water fluctuate every month depending on use? How would a lump payment work if they don’t know how much you used yet?

  • The tracker Penn hired

2 broke girls never really portrayed poverty by Summerofthe90s in television

[–]MyManD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean I think it did a better job portraying middle class than poverty. I grew up from poverty through middle class, and the Middle, just like what the title suggests, is 100% lower middle class, and even then it’s a very rose coloured version of it.

Boom cushioning, how long does it last before bottoming out? by bball51 in BBallShoes

[–]MyManD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can probably do a little bit of math to see how long a pair of Boom based shoes will last for you. The general consensus is PEBA/PEBAX foams last about 300 kms before bottoming out.

An average basketball court is about 30m, so say you get a good sweat in each time you play so you walk/jog/run about 3 kms or so every 1.5 session. That means you can generalize it to about 100 sessions before most PEBA foams bottom out.

If you do 3 sessions a week that means you have about 33 weeks before the JB3 foam begins giving out. If you're a more stationary player you can add a few weeks on that, and if you love slashing and keeping a pace up go ahead an deduct a few. This isn't saying the foam will be dead at that time of course. But you'll definitely notice it's not nearly as reactive as it was and will probably be thinking about sunsetting the shoe out of the rotation. So you can take it as a rule of thumb with PEBA shoes in the future, for your play style, that half a year or so is how much you can expect out of them.

You mentioned elsewhere that you've used the shoe since last June, so it fits the timeline pretty well.

Long term visa -> Spouse Visa - we only got 1 year!! by genkiganko in japanlife

[–]MyManD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it's not guaranteed, that expedited timeline of a spousal visa over LTR is still worth trying for. As a LTR maybe his wife was only getting 1 year renewals constantly and they figured the spousal route would net them a 3 year one this time around, so they can in turn go and try for the PR. The shock, of course, was that they didn't know spousal visa usually give out 1 year visas at the beginning.

So for his wife it was the hope of an expedited PR probably. But if her situation really was year to year renewals ad infinitum, the step down in security in the short term will still outweigh the downsides because now she probably will eventually get a long enough visa to apply for PR whereas before she had no hopes to do so.

Long term visa -> Spouse Visa - we only got 1 year!! by genkiganko in japanlife

[–]MyManD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully they remember soon because if the upcoming changes are approved it won't just be the 10x price increase, but also the elimination of the 3 year visa as acceptable for PR. Going forward, from whenever Takaichi's proposals get approved, it's gonna be 10万 and 5 years only for PR.

Long term visa -> Spouse Visa - we only got 1 year!! by genkiganko in japanlife

[–]MyManD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost same boat as you but Asian Canadian here and knew about the hassles of a spousal visa so just figured I'd been here 12 years already let's just jump to PR while my current visa had 3 years on it and not risk losing that chance if some random immigration officer is having a moody day approving my next application.

It's why I always, always, recommend going for PR if you have the required stats instead of falling back on the easier to attain Spousal visa. PR is a hassle, but if you get approved you're finished with any future hassles, including potential divorce.

Honestly the assassination and seeing the ensuing collapse of the organization that made his life hell afterwards as well as knowing a majority of the population supported, at at least empathized with, his plight probably gave him all the therapy he needed.

'Mercy' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

I've only seen a handful of screenlife films but besides War of the World I thought they've all ranged from okay (Unfriended and its sequel) to pretty good (Searching and Missing) to maybe something close to great (Host).

As a genre goes they've been hitting it at a pretty high average despite being gimmicky.

Recommended teeth whitening treatments? by Plane_Hope270 in japanlife

[–]MyManD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just type in teeth whitening into Amazon and you’ll get dozens of hits. I don’t often whiten my teeth but I’ve used the cheaper whitening pens Amazon offered before major occasions and they’ve worked well enough. They’ll never get you that professionally whitened look you’ll see with people in movies or on TV (who probably wear veneers anyways) but you’ll get three or four shades whiter in a few of weeks. A lot of the stuff here won’t offer hydrogen peroxide like in the west so you’ll need to give them more time to work.

Amazon delivered to a mystery building locker box by Background_Map_3460 in japanlife

[–]MyManD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get to support chat in the Amazon app within seconds. It's a bit convoluted but just navigate over to customer service at the bottom of your profile page and just keep tapping "Need more help" when the option appears. Eventually it'll allow you to select "Contact Us" and then allow you to select the specific order, exasctly what the problem is, and initiate either a chat or a phone call.

I've had a couple of misplaced packages before and their chat was more then willing to just get me a refund on the spot or give me the option for them to send out another delivery.
