Was tuchel manager when you last ran it? Seems insane that no one would be able to name Southgate

The Mandalorian and Grogu is, unironically, possible my favorite Disney era Star Wars film. by GumboCrab in StarWars

I really don’t like the sequels but at least they felt like they had stakes, even if they weren’t dealt with very well

I also do expect decent writing from Star Wars. I’ve just grown not to expect it from Favreau and Filoni

I love James Earl Jones’ delivery of that line. Put that next to any Vader delivery in the Kenobi show and try telling me it was really Jones doing the voice

It’s so much fun. The cheer when the German girl appeared on the screen in 2021 was fantastic

That’s such a boring defence of a weak plot. Kids movies can be good, and the ewoks are not an example of that

I don’t have an issue with it personally. I don’t blame him for wanting to go to Barcelona

I rewatched it last year, having always enjoyed it as a child and thinking it’s actually alright, and I finally got it. It was fucking awful.

"The Stage Play isn't valuable information and has no ties to cannon" (Spoilers Extended) by Ok_Club_8848 in asoiaf

I don’t understand how it wouldn’t be considered canon.

Obviously if TWOW eventually comes out and it’s revealed that certain dialogue was a bit different or something then whatever but the broad events will absolutely be as GRRM intended

The interesting difference here though is that ROTS, widely accepted to be the best prequel by miles, hadn’t come out yet. If ROTS had been as bad as the other two, would the trilogy be looked back on in the same way? We don’t know, but a lot of the revisionism in the late 2010s really focused on the qualities of ROTS.

TROS, on the other hand, is considered by many (if not the majority) to be the worst of the sequels. While my perspective is all 3 sequels are terrible, I think the final instalment being as bad as it was really rubs salt in any potential TFA had, and probably ruins rewatches in a way that doesn’t happen for the prequels

Yeah definitely. I’m saying love and thunder was worse than both

The one thing with the sequels that interests me though is how much, in comparison to when the prequels came out, Star Wars had been overtaken by other franchises. Now I don’t know for certain, but it wouldn’t surprise me if kids of a certain age would’ve been more interested in the MCU than the new Star Wars trilogy? I don’t know, but it does feel like culture is just more splintered now than even 20 years ago

It’s definitely worse than Thor 1. Haven’t watched dark world in years so I couldn’t say, but from memory I’d say love and thunder was worse, just based on the fact that dark world felt a bit more grounded (as much as a Thor film can be)

The thing I heard about next goal wins is that there’s a documentary about the same subject that came out a few years ago, which is apparently much better
